  • Hey guys, I hope y'all enjoy this video on how to kick a field like a pro. In this video I will be going over the basic technique used to kick a field goal the same way professionals do. These are the same kicking tips that I learned when I started my kicking journey and I still use these as a professional kicker today.

    I am in 8th grade and I can hit a 45 yard field goal off the ground, I know that doesn't seem too impressive but I am proud of myself. Especially because I used to kick footballs off a 1 inch block.

      Bruh, you should be proud, I’m a senior in college and can barely get a 35 yard kick (of course I don’t actually play so this may mean nothing to you lol) but my point is you should be proud of that!

    Thanks for the tutorial. I’m an American football fan from Hong Kong (the sport isn’t really popular here) but I wanted to learn how to kick, punt and/or throwing passes. This is a great tutorial, but unfortunately the only experience I have with kicking is getting the ball once a week and passing it to a teammate in soccer during PE lol. The only place I can practice right now is probably a 7-a-side soccer pitch at the park (which isn’t a very good spot, it has a 12 yard marker only and a shorter crossbar for the goal) but still, thanks for this video! And thanks for reading my long comment/story lol
    Soccer players probably wonder why I’m playing handegg when they see me lol

    Hey Caden, I’m a beginning kicker (just hit 1 month of kicking), and I’ve noticed I have been struggling with getting a consistent distance or strong hit on the ball. I have kinda maxed out at 35 yards and I’m wondering what the best steps to maximize my distance and strength would be. Great video btw!

    • @cadennovikoff
      @cadennovikoff  3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Thanks for the support man! For only kicking for 1 month 35 yards is great! The best steps for field are normally 3 back and 2 over. But, the distance of the steps are normally a little bit different for each person. You just want to make sure your steps as consistent as possible.

      Idk if he made a vidoe but as a former highschool kicker & punter, college kicker, and current kicking coach. I highly recommended the Nike tiempo, Adidas Copsas Mundial or anything that has a leather base, preferably a leather base. It’ll protect your foot from injuries, while also providing comfort, grip, and being lightweight as well as !a little more bounce off the ball

So when I kick I keep kicking it and it won’t go high enough but I’m doing everything right and sometimes it just rolls on the ground and I’m not sure how to fix it where I can get it higher and be able to make it in the goal and I am expected to kick a 40 yard feild goal in 6-7 months and I’m not sure how to fix this by then

    For PAT when do you go towards ball....after snap and ball is in position or before? (New kicker on a women's team)

    • @cadennovikoff
      @cadennovikoff  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      So, most of the time if you start your approach towards the ball right before your holder catches the snap, it times up good. I would try that and then if you need too, you can change and start earlier or later depending on your speed towards the ball

  • @Trollol12
    @Trollol12 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hey Caden! I have a question for you. When it comes to the approach and getting the momentum to kick, should you be relaxed? Like when you do the jab step and the second step with the right foot, should you "flex" everything in your body (specially legs) or only when planting the foot?

    • @cadennovikoff
      @cadennovikoff  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey man! Good question. So you don’t want to be fully flexed on your approach but you don’t want to be totally relaxed either. You want to be in between. You want your muscles to be engaged but not so flexed that you are stiff.

    • @cadennovikoff
      @cadennovikoff  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Everyone is a little different. There really is no wrong spot. Focus on kicking the sweet spot of the ball and your plant spot will end up in the correct spot for your body

  • @goham2558
    @goham2558 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Stepping with the left foot needs to be more predominant and makes sure the kick isn't blocked. That being said i always just "fell" into my left step first. One thing I haven't seen in these videos is to keep your head down when making contact with the ball. never missed an extra point in highschool and made 47 yd fg's to keep my HS in the finals.

    • @cadennovikoff
      @cadennovikoff  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey man! Honestly backswing is not something I really think about because most of the time it’s just your natural swing. But if your really trying to improve it I would say work on flexibility and range of motion with your hips and lower body
