Use acetone if u spray to thick,also if u mistakenly spray plastic it will remove your mistake and leave the old paint unharmed. Also for cleaning your hands

You can make a paint booth pretty easy with some 3 mil plastic, and a zip wall system. The system is $150 at Lowe's or Amazon. It's quick and easy and it'll keep the bugs and other contaminates out of your paint. Something to think about next time. Those parts look great.
MY heart sank when you said you was doing the paint job outside - my old man has been spraying cars for 30 years and he always told me this was a no go! however the people in the comments seem to like the end product :)

I didn't think a spray paint job would look so good. I've been wanting to paint my motorcycle so I actually bought the primer, base coat and clearcoat you put in the description. Thanks for the help!
Good video and exactly the information I need as I wanted to DIY my parts with rattle can. I feel confident to go ahead with your video as a guide.
My body parts are off of a 76 GL 1000 and are all factory paint with pin striping/side decals which I want to loose. Either they will come off with heat as you show or I guess they will have to be sanded off.
One thing you quickly glossed over was the sanding portion of your preparation. You listed the sand paper you were going to use, and the block but did not get into the exact order and when you know to switch to the use of each.
Anyway could you clarify the sanding process, order, for me in writing here. Much Thanks.

You did a good job on them only things I can see is two black spots. One on the rear wing at 14:06 and another on tank cover at 14:11. Still looks good thought.

Looks good Motonosity, but remember flat or matte colors are 10X easier to paint opposed to clear or glossy finishes. In all you did good. Stay away from gloss, for now anyways. Its gonna look good. Glad your taking initiative and doing something not bolt on.
Maybe true, but at least with gloss you can fix things with wet sanding and polishing. Can't do that with matte. Do it right or you're screwed lol

I liked this. The plastics on my MZ Baghira are getting overdue for a refurbishment (2001 bike that I put 50k miles on myself) so I'll be following your step-by-step instructions :-) My bike is black, not white, though.

You can make a quick and easy paint booth next time with some 3 mil plastic and a zip wall system. It's $150 for the system, but it works amazing and it'll keep the bugs and other junk out of your paint. Our Lowe's has the zip wall systems, but if you can't get one locally you can get them on Amazon. Less likely to get a box of rocks, or a brick ordering zip walls than you are ordering a $6000 camera. Hahahaha

Number one thing you don't do is paint plastics they kinda last but no matter what you do they always end up chipping and flaking over time it's like car bumpers they crack and flake
I always thought the number one thing you don't do is put the toilet paper roll with the paper coming out the bottom.

Yeah, because no plastic parts come from the factory painted :P
Hope you get some of that 1500 and know how to polish stuff out cuz that paint is very dull it needs to be sanded and Polished good luck and you should have had some Flex additive sprayed on it it will help it from chipping

So how many cans of clear and base did you need?
So, essentially if I wanted to replicate EVERYTHING in an entirely different color and make one my own I should be expecting to spend about 7,000 including the bike price since you can find a wrecked or semi “broken” r3 on copart or erepairables for like 1300-2000 where the frame, and subframe are okay

I am very interested to know how much/how many cans of paint were used, as I'm planning to paint my fairings and have no idea how much paint will be required.

Almost the same if sent it to a professional and avoided all the work!
not even close. It was pretty cheap. Would've been 4-5x more at a shop and I wouldn't have had the satisfaction of doing it myself.
