As conflicted as I am about Pink Diamond’s/Rose’s whole character, I don’t think the Zoomans were ever meant to be warriors for Rose. As it was stated by Pearl, the Diamonds have Pink the Human Zoo to preserve the life of humans for Pink, not understanding or caring to understand that Pink meant that she no longer wanted to invade earth. Rose’s whole character arc is just so… ehhhhh. Sometimes I detest her character while other times I like it. She’s… so complicated. As cruel as Pink was sometimes, I don’t think she would’ve been cruel enough to use the shards of her shattered friends as harvest material to help her in the war. The fellow CGs definitely wouldn’t have allowed that. Here’s the thing about Pink/Rose. Her upbringing is with a bunch of heartless diamonds who sees their gems as below them. The other diamonds are the only role models Pink has so of course she’ll see gems as lesser than her so she won’t be sensitive to how they feel due to her terrible upbringing. But she still is a horrible person- at first. Mostly. She abandoned Spinel, forced Pearl to stay silent despite preaching about how they’re all free now, lied to her whole army and friends about her identity, pitted both of her armies against each other in a horrible war while she played the puppeteer, and worst of all, left Steven with nothing of her past to warn him of what could come. Rose/Pink is a very selfish person. She’s like a child, she doesn’t think about the consequences of her actions. The only time she really saw the consequences of her actions was when she realized her invasion of earth would kill all life on it, but she never thought afterwards about how the way she went about it would end up making life so miserable for so many people. She ordered Pearl, who she knew was a devoted servant to her, to never speak of their past again or their identities without thinking of the psychological consequences it would have on her friend. To tell her she is free after using her Diamond status on someone she knew was programmed to obey is thoughtless and careless. Pink bubbled Bismuth away after trying to make Bismuth feel guilty for trying to permanently end a war, that SHE started, by saying that killing a diamond would make them just as bad as the heartless tyrants that tormented the gems. She tricked a gem who was programmed to be her very best friend to stand still in a garden she knew she’d never go back to, knowing 100% that Spinel wouldn’t leave that spot. She tricked her to stay in one spot by making her think it was a game. She didn’t think about how Spinel would feel waiting for her to come back. She abandoned Spinel because she didn’t want to be dragged down by childish things. Like you said in your video, she could’ve had Spinel repurposed, she could’ve done anything else other than tricking her best friend into standing in one spot for eternity. Rose is not just a flawed, morally gray character. She is a cruel person. She’s selfish, she’s thoughtless, and she doesn’t think ahead. She killed so many gems, friends and worshippers alike. Sure she “redeemed” herself later on, but that’s not really redeeming herself. She just becomes sweeter, a bit more aware, but that’s not redemption. Redemption would’ve been releasing Pearl from her obligation. It would’ve been freeing Bismuth from her bubble and telling her the whole truth. It would’ve been going back to the garden to release Spinel from the fake game and revealing everything. Redemption would’ve been telling the truth to Garnet and Amethyst. It would’ve been fixing what she had caused by ending the war with her fellow diamonds once and for all. She never redeemed herself because she never made up for her mistakes. Becoming sweeter and kinder doesn’t mean you’ve redeemed yourself. It just means you’ve changed to be nicer, which is good, but all those issues still existed while she hung around in Beach City, knowing a close friend was bubbled away, another was forced into silence, and another was stuck in an endless game of waiting. Fuck Rose honestly. The story honestly would’ve been better had Rose been an actual Rose Quartz who’ve had to unwillingly shatter gems to end the war against a tyrannical, cruel Pink Diamond. To be honest, I think the Crewniverse tried too hard with the “Rose was Pink Diamond all along!” Plot twist. I honestly think they were really going for a huge revelation. They were trying to make a show that was so out of this world that it would be Avatar: The Last Airbender legendary. It sure is one heck of a show, but not in all the best ways like ATLA is. As for her room, I’ve always believed that she put some bit of her essence into it. She knew Steven would use it one day. When Steven had the room create his mom, the cloud Rose acted like we all thought she’d act, but when he called her out on her lies, the room became stormy, the fake Rose became upset. I think, in a way, the room is alive. It loves Steven because it’s somehow part of Rose. It loves him so it gives him these lesson. But it’s a room, it doesn’t understand everything like a human does, but it loves him. It wanted Steven to stop lying to Connie about how he felt about the ending of the book. It wanted Steven to understand that Rose didn’t think everything through, that she wasn’t certain of a lot of things, but there was one thing she knew she was certain of and that was that she loved Steven. It felt upset in her place that he would have such animosity towards his mother. But that’s just my own bunched up theories and headcanons. By the way how are ya doin’? I don't know, usually I'd be cool with admitting I'm overthinking but the show presented these crucial details and just left it off, never to be touched on again. 16 humans in the zoo at a time, 16 suits of armor, the treasure chest, the shooting star being named after the symbol used by The Crystal Gems. It doesn't matter if her arc was reversed. Her good actions do not balance out her bad actions. He's making Steven is absolutely nothing good on her part, she created Steven's existence but the Gems and Greg actually made Steven who he is. She defended Earth... From a war she started. Her good actions are half assed clean ups of her very bad actions.

Pink may have claimed to have fought the good fight but her known actions make her no better than the other diamonds, the key difference is that her sisters have a chance to make amends for what they did but Pink can't.

The "Rose believed she was going to take over Steven's body" theory is damn near canon. She saw childbirth and motherhood like fusion. A connection where two entities can communicate and share a body. It explains why she left no information for Steven or the gems, why she left trinkets behind for steven to find. what's disturbing is Rose truly believed this is how it would work and was already taking credit for Steven's goodness way before anything happened. "Everytime you love being yourself... Thats ME" like nobody sees how gross this is because the VHS tape is generally presented as cute. Just think about it, Rose committed not alive because she thought she could half hijack a human child's body and someday "fix" her mistakes without fully taking accountability. She was content with her child taking all the blame since even if Rose was half of Steven, he would still have his own identity, the blame would ultimately still be on him even if she was in there helping him out. Not only was she perfectly fine with creating her own sentient human kid meat shield she completely invalidates any goodness he might organically create for himself, by himself. Well, I've got two thoughts on the gems being afraid of Steven entering the room: 1) The Gems didn't know what would happen to Steven since he was the first *sentient/human* gem hybrid (because even if Rose WAS making crystal basilisk, she may have never told anyone, not even her loyal pearl). 2) Steven is a human mentally. He grew up on earth, he acts and relates more with his human heritage than the robot like gems (as a whole) and even the Crystal Gems (who are considered defective by homeworld gems) and while they appear to have emotions, they seem more like ai simulations given free reign and rampantcy combined with their basic functions. They were probably worried about how the room's programming would take to someone who ages and has genuine emotions. And given the episode, they were kinda right.
