Now you’re just doing the most…season 3 was one of its peaks…it’s when the show actually started getting good. We saw new fusions, new interactions, new FIGHTING scenes, and ACTUAL plot with menacing antagonists with a healthy balance of filler episodes. The only valid opinion to “destroying the show” is season 5, the last season due to it being “rushed” and having many plot holes.
With regards to who the abuser is between Lapis and Jasper, to me anyway they both were. Jasper interrogated and abused Lapis when she was just trying to go home, unaware to how much homeworld has fallen since the war. Lapis only has negative memories of Earth and must have had some pleasant ones of Homeworld left to which Jasper dispersed and took her prisoner, forced her to go to one place she hated above all others. So when given the change to beat Jasper herself or along side the Crystal Gems or fused with her with the intent to make her suffer...I get making her suffer. Protecting Steven is just a scape goat excuse, she could have easily protected him with out a fusion. Malachite's fusion is self loathing in my opinion, Lapises for her weakness and always being a victim of others and Jaspers for being weak enough to fail. Combine that together and you get a co-dependency of masochism with each being both victim and abuser. What's good however is Laspis doesn't project this onto others besides Jasper. Like she hated Peridot for a long time but never see's Jasper/herself in her.
I must disagree on the “they’re both abusers” part. There’s no such thing as two abusers in a relationship. Abuse means one person has power over the other in a relationship. Lapis was the one holding the chains. Jasper is no helpless victim, but she is a victim of the abuse. Also where exactly have we seen Jasper abuse Lapis? She IS rough with her, yanking her around, but Lapis clearly wasn’t afraid of Jasper when they first landed their ship on beach city. Lapis was afraid of the Diamonds, not Jasper or Peridot. Had Jasper been a crazy abusing gem, neither Peridot or Lapis would have so visibly given her glares and talked back at her. Lapis logically would be the best gem to send on a mission with Jasper and Peridot to Earth because Lapis was the last Homeworld gem to have come from Earth. Of course Homeworld would want someone who’s seen present Earth to be apart of the latest Earth mission. She would be the only gem capable of giving Jasper and Peridot accurate information about how Earth was like since no other Homeworld gem had set food there. Peridot did, but it was only at the Galaxy warp for less than 5 minutes. And from the logical side of view, Lapis was put in prison because she didn’t tell her mission leader and warrior information that would be very important to their leaders. Her only excuse was that it wasn’t relevant to the mission, but in the eyes of Homeworld and their brainwashed gems, it doesn’t matter if it was relevant or not, it was very important information that they would’ve wanted to know. Lapis is a victim, a victim of Homeworld and the mirror, but she is no helpless victim either
Everything is from Steven’s perspective. She very well may have apologized off screen, and probably did considering how well she and Peridot seem to get along. It’s mentioned at the human zoo that the Diamonds don’t actually know when the Cluster is going to emerge, as they ask if it has emerged yet.
Yeah it could've been done off screen but I think it would've been important to show. Just because someone has trauma doesn't mean they get to treat people however they want and that's a HUGE lesson Lapis needed to learn, it would've been so good if she apologised on screen
If it were done off screen and not wholly addressed, that makes it a cope out. Even if the show is from Steven's perspective, you do owe your audience some form of catharsis
The CGs prolly thought she was corrupted, or that the cracks on her Gem were making her act funky, as Pearl found her after the Diamonds attacked and Lapis got her Gem cracked
Also we can't forget Lapis was on the outer edge of the ship when it fell full force into a hill, she wasn't looking so hot when she and Jasper fused as well. It isn't really about who was the most abusive, or who was the abuser. They were both horrible to each other. Jasper was yet again trying to use Lapis for something she has, and not interacting with her for who she is, and Lapis imprisoned Jasper for months on end. On why Lapis didn't just end Jasper then and there, it isn't about what Lapis can actually do, and what Lapis BELIEVES she can do about the situation. Lapis tells Steven to give up on the ship despite easily being able to overpower just about everyone on the ship. It's like how people in collapsing buildings respond: "Well, I've never been in a collapsing building before, why would it change now?". She's never had freedom, or a choice, until now, when someone's forcing her to make a choice. She jumps at the opportunity, and both Jasper and Lapis hurt each other. One grows, and the other remains stuck in the past. I'd argue that the thing with Lapis and Jasper is pretty good writing, what made it bad was how people decided to argue and make a mess of it. It's obvious that it's a toxic relationship on both ends, not everything is black and white. They're just bad for each other tbh. Lapis is kind of morally grey but overall a good person when she can muster up courage, and Jasper is... Jasper.
Eyeball's cracked form looked different as well. The mirrored eye could be a side effect of being trapped in the mirror as well, but if it's seemingly made only to trap Lapises, then the end result is still the same of it only happening to the Lapises that are/have been mirror-trapped & then cracked.
Yeah I always figured that Lapis just was being emotional and wrongly accusing them of knowing about her. It was probably a moment of error for the crystal gems to not put the pieces together in their heads which is weird writing but i dont feel like its bad :)
About Lapis Lazuli and the barn thing... to me, Lapis Lazuli took the barn in the first place because it was the only place where she felt comfortable living, especially after everything that happened to her: she hated Earth, Homeworld, and the barn was the only place she felt happy/fine at in thousands of years, therefore, she did the selfish act of taking it all for herself when she left without Peridot and Pumpkin, thinking that she could take her little piece of comfort and paradise with her. However, it grew dull to her very quickly, because she was, once again, all alone. As for smashing it on Blue Diamond's head during her return, to me it felt more like a symbolic act than a real attack, as it didn't do much more than giving them a few seconds to say hi and accepting her in the Crystal Gems (which I found sadly rushed but they were in the middle of a fight with a diamond). By smashing the barn, Lapis Lazuli meant that the barn, her materialistic piece of comfort and peace, meant nothing compared to what she feels when she is with her friends, especially Steven, Peridot, and later Bismuth, and that she was finally found a home, not in a barn but amongst the people she likes. Buuut I may also be overanalyzing it all idk
To be fair to Garnet in Warp Tour, it is later established that Garnet's future vision shows her possibilities as opposed to the actual future. It was very much likely that her future vision didn't engage in that episode until she actually considered what Steven was saying and corroborated it with the fact that Lapis Lazuli had left for Homeworld not to long ago, making her see the future in which Homeworld sends the little sphere things to fix the Galaxy Warp.
Yeah no, I’m honestly pissed the gems never got called out for leaving Lapis in the mirror. That was cruel, even for them. Lapis had every right to feel so much animosity towards them. They should’ve given Lapis an apology. I wished we could’ve seen them apologize to Lapis for leaving her trapped in that mirror. I wish we could’ve seen Lapis not forgive them too, verbally. I don’t like how Lapis just… becomes friends with them without any apology. And if they had a convo off screen like any major needed scenes in SU, then it didn’t truly happen. They knowingly left a sentient being trapped in an object. What makes Lapis’ situation more terrifying and daunting is the fact that isn’t just trapped, she’s completely helpless. She can’t move, she can’t use her water powers, all she can literally do is just see. She can’t even choose where to look either. It’s the equivalent of a human becoming completely paralyzed and that is nightmare inducing. No wonder she is just so mentally fucked up, doesn’t excuse her abusive actions ever, but it does make you feel bad for her. At the end of that episode, Mirror Gem, Pearl says something along the lines of “I had no idea the gem inside the mirror was that powerful”. That only proves that if Garnet and Amethyst didn’t know the gem was sentient, Pearl knew. Pearl was a Diamond’s servant, she would be the most knowledgeable in all the gem tech. She knew Lapis was sentient. If she didn’t know, she would’ve said something like “I had no idea the gem powering that mirror was still sentient” or something like that. It seems like they kept her in there because they knew she was powerful, just not as powerful as they originally thought. They knew that she’d be too powerful for them. Due to her trauma, hatred, and pain, she trapped herself with Jasper as a way to have some ounce of control in her life. At least that’s how I see it. She’s been tossed around, discarded, been constantly dehumanized and called a tool over and over, having the opportunity to have power over another gem was too tempting for her broken mind to resist. Doesn’t matter whether Jasper had any part in her pain or not, Jasper was offering herself up on a silver platter to Lapis and Lapis couldn’t resist a chance to have someone to take out her pain and anger on. Lapis couldn’t take Garnet, Amethyst, or Pearl because she knew how attached Steven is to them, she couldn’t hurt them without having the one person who didn’t make her feel like a tool for his own gain hate her. But Steven hated Jasper, so Lapis was free to take her prisoner without fear of Steven hating her for it. She knew he’d most likely see it as an act of self sacrifice for him when she knew the true reason: a free punching bag served up on a silver platter. Yeah, love how the Crewniverse made Lapis say she missed Jasper as an anecdote to a victim missing their abuser when really it’s Lapis missing her punching bag. She misses having someone to hurt. She misses having someone to let all her steam out on. Lapis acts like such a victim, but she literally said that she took out her anger on Jasper. Bruh. I fucking died at that edit of that guy saying “I am the one who knocks” with Lapis punching Jasper to Team Rocket blast off 😂 Also, saw someone in their own analysis say that Jasper telling Lapis that she’s changed and that Malachite won’t be like how it was before isn’t an allegory for an abuser giving their victims false promises, but it was a victim promising she won’t make her abuser mad anymore, she won’t give her an abuser any more reasons to hurt her. Also, when Lapis tells Steven that if she’s gonna be punished like a Crystal Gem, she might as well be one… I.. what. I’ve never seen anyone point out the fact that that’s one of the worst reason to join a group? You join a cause, cult, group, religion, etc because you believe in their cause, beliefs, etc, not because you’ll be treated like one anyway. Fun fact: Jasper has been mentioned more times than she’s appeared on screen 😐 Jasper’s “redemption arc” honestly sucked. She never healed from any of her trauma. None of the gems ever tried to help her like they helped every other gem. All because she’s a bit more of a jackass than the other gems. She never got to heal and the Crewniverse just forced her to become a servant to another fucking Diamond
@@Asinglepalerose-SUFAN4EVA In short: SU Crew started off with Malachite represented a toxic relationship with Garnet saying they’re BOTH really bad for each other and ended up with making Lapis seem like the sole victim of abuse from Jasper because she’s pretty. Jasper is no damsel in distress, but she’s a victim of Lapis’ cruel actions, and Lapis has gone through horrible trauma, but had no right to take her anger out on the one gem who had done little to nothing to her.
I think what should have happened is that rose discovers lapiss mirror after pearl gives it to her and heals lapis. But after lapis is freed she wants to go back to homeworld. Afraid that she would give away that the crystal gems were still alive they decide to poof and bubble her. Or rose trust to get lapis to see there side of things

I would love to agree that the Lapis/Jasper situation is bad writing if not for the fact that abusive relationships are often not “abuser and victim” oftentimes abusers will push and pull their victims into objectively abusive acts that convince them that “I am as bad as they are” in a tactic to try and destabilize the victims senses of morality and justice to match their own, I say this as someone who has grown up in an abusive household, been in an abusive relationship that eeriely matched the Jasper/Lapis relationship at the time that I saw it and have studied a significant amount of literature around abusive relationships
