Globalization over past decades has created a web of interconnected economic and security actors. But the concentration of resources best suited to economic efficiencies also created new opportunities and challenges for states, to navigate and respond to the use of coercive leverage in which economic interests have been subject to political and security pressures.
Discussion was held in Q1 2021 virtually. Discussion on most part referenced US and EU relationship and impact of Brexit. It includes how USA circumnavigated EU market power growth using ‘Sox’ example with EU research data shared to illustrate impact. How swift was compromised and its implications.
The objective of this video clip was to introduce the concept of ‘Market Power’ and ‘Global Network’/'Economic Statecraft’ and how it is being weaponized to viewers. How economic interdependence and institutions can and are abused and weaponized. Difference between both terms, examples and common tools or methods used in each and how and when each are used and in what different scenarios and circumstances.
