There are times when I daydream, I know it seems impossible but this is the person I want in my life.
A couple of years ago I flew from London to Bangkok with Singapore Airlines on my birthday in premium economy. I didn't mention to anyone that it was my birthday but I assume that it must have flagged up on their system somehow because around 90 minutes before touching down in Bangkok I was presented with a birthday card, a dessert and a glass of champagne, all free of charge. I was obviously delighted but more than that I was impressed that they went the extra mile for me.

Singapore Airlines economy class is quite nice actually. It’s one carrier I don’t mind flying economy. Changyi Airport is rated one of the best in the world. Enjoy your stay in Singapore.

You can't beat Singapore Airlines. Every chance we get to fly them to Southeast Asia , we do. We did fly once business class from LA to Indonesia. What an experience ! We have been hearing stories about airport lounges in general not what they use to be. You have to do your research on that. Hope you're doing ok Alina ❤ from Harriet, Jim and Yuki (right now in The Azores Islands, Portugal So pretty at this time of the year.

Business class is great! This year I discovered premium economy which is a pretty good middle ground between value and price.

When I was going to see my ex a long time ago, I had my own incredible experience. I paid for a super shuttle to the airport, nothing special but I couldn’t believe my eyes when a long limo rolled up to my doorstep! I didn’t pay for that upgrade and it was something that usually only very wealthy people get to do. It was a plush, comfortable dream ride and I enjoyed every minute of it. When we get treated special, we appreciate the small, things in life we have even more. 😊
Most wealthy people don't ride around in limo's, people trying to look rich do or celebrities etc most people don't like drawing that kind of attention to themselves. There great for nice occasions etc ❤

A long time ago, I got to fly Singapore to Vancouver because my seat had a broken screen & what was I going to do all that time. There were no empty seats in economy & I was a little persistent so I got moved after we were in the air a bit. It was a capsule & it was fabulously comfortable. I even got some sleep. Unfortunately I had to fly to Calgary after - I was in 1st class but they had run out of food & brought me a granola bar lol . Singapore air does treat you nicely all around.

SQ rarely offers complimentary upgrades coz I believe they do not have an overbooking system.
Also, personally, I think indulging in a biz class on SQ is best on long-haul flights. You’ll get to enjoy all its biz class services.
FYI except for lounges in Singapore Airport, those in other airports are a hit-and-miss experience.

As far as tips for flying business class regularly: I am about 6 foot seven so flying in economy is a big no-no for me. What ultimately do is I use my credit card for all purchases and I save up points all year long in order to use them towards business class flights. I also pay off my credit card balance every other night to ensure that my credit score stays high and to ensure that I don’t have to pay interest on my purchases.
Within a year of my spending, I may accumulate around 80,000 credit card rewards points which translates into about $800. The rest of the business class ticket I tend to pay using a tax return or money I have saved.
Flying to Schells and Maldives on Emirates business class cost me about $5000 each time. Flight prices are a bit higher now so my trip on ANA to Bali and Singapore is about $8200. I am hoping that I can get my trip to Bora Bora on Air Tahiti NUI business class cheaper than $5000.
How is 6 foot 7 comfortable in business class? There’s no way you can fully stretch your legs when in the flat position, is there? I k ow ecomomy is a nightmare when you’re that tall, but for me being 6 foot 2 it is already impossible to fully stretch my legs in a flat business class seat.

Wait until you have a 12 hour flight from SE Asia to Europe or North America and you didn't get any sleep the night before - then business class becomes total heaven when you can lie down flat and just completely knock out. Waking up with only 5 hours left and fully rested feels like a total luxury whereas if you're in economy in that scenario, it feels like total torture not being able to sleep. It's a must for me at least for flights over 10 hours. Anything under 5 hours I would just do economy. 5-10 hours I would do premium economy or business depending on the price.
lol I literally just experienced that flying from Singapore to Vancouver: 13 HOURS in economy. So incredibly uncomfortable, barely got any sleep. Once I have more disposable income or am able to find points deals, that's where I will be upgrading.
That's a good guideline for Economy / Premium Economy / Business flying. Yes, for flights under 5 hours BC not worth the extra money (unless someone else is paying OR you have mileage points !) 👍👍😂😂
Business class is by all means NO guarantee of a good night sleep, sorry to say. The seat may be flat (again, depending on the airline), but most configurations use the ‘tunnel concept’, meaning your legs go under the seating of the front seating area, which means a narrow tunnel just enough to strecth your legs, but there’s no room to move your legs or turn your body and legs sideways. In fact, when premium economy seats are available, I prefer them over business class. Food is irrelevant, comfort is all that counts. Thise who never experience business class may get excited, but those that usually fly business know better.
@@EGO0808 Not sure how a partial recline is better than a full flat lying seat? (all international business class seats have flat lying seats, if not, it's not really business class) I am a Delta Diamond Medallion member and fly internationally every 2 weeks (I am a partner at a strategy consulting firm in NYC), so I am used to traveling business. It's no big deal to me, I just know it's more comfortable than any premium economy seat. If you sleep on an awkward 145 degree reclining bed, then yeah maybe you'd prefer premium economy more, but 99.9999% of people sleep on flat beds.
@@kayflip2233 I am platinum for life on Flying Blue and Emerald on One World alliance, like yourself a regular in business class / first class. I am based in SE Asia and can assure you not all business class seating is fully flat on all airlines. As for premium economy compared to business class, I do indeed prefer a partial recline in a wide premium economy seat over a full flat seat, where I cannot move my legs as stated previously. I simply sleep better.
I used to always fly business class & enjoyed the leg room & free beer 🍺 ! This was all pre 9-11.
Glad to see a humble girl like you enjoying Business Class for the first time instead of trying to make it sound you are a regular from some sort of wealthy background! The problem with Canada is that it’s just too high in taxes with so much government control that it’s just very hard to make or save any money. I am a Canadian immigrant from Hong Kong and I made my wealth in HK, and I am glad I chose not to stay in Canada in my prime years. Now I can afford to fly Business n First and stay at 5-star hotels, as I am doing so 10 days from now also on Singapore Airlines A380 to London! I hope you build your own wealth too so you enjoy the same - think big my friend!

Greetings from Kandy, Sri Lanka! Singapore Airlines' premium classes are said to be the best in the industry and I'm glad you got to have the experience, even if on a 2 hour regional flight! I flew Turkish Airlines' business class from Manchester to Colombo and whilst very good, it's not quite up to the level of Singapore Airlines, Korean Air or Japan Airlines. Hope you enjoy Singapore for the second time!! You'll be plenty busy the entire 10 days, trust me 😃

imagine being a 10 year old and being upgraded to business class on SQ for free. Your pain is much longer till you are able to earn that money yourself. 😂 then when you have that money, you get stingy and not wanna splurge on flights, instead you spend on the holiday experience itself. Maybe that's till my body starts feeling old. 😂
Changi lnternational airport is so beautiful. My last trip to Singapore was in 2014.l stayed at sentosa island and it was great.
The first lounge you visited was a contract lounge and not a SQ Airlines lounge. Hopefully you were pleased with the value you received.
Thanks for the video. My wife and I had our first business class flight on Singapore Airlines in March 2023 when we flew from Singapore to Jakarta, using combination of Virgin Australia points and about $150 AUD for the 2 of us. It was a very short hop, but the opportunity to experience business class had been on my bucket list for a long time. Enjoy Singapore which was where I was born, and can't wait to visit again.

@@dinodinosaur2930 Oh for sure, I asked but sadly most were already booked up! Singapore is a very popular destination and most hotels downtown don't have issues filling the rooms like other cities.
Once you try first class for long hauls as a tall person it’s hard to go back to regular cattle status

Save those FF points and fly Business Class on a long-haul flight from Asia to North America. That way, you get the full benefit of two checked bags, the best lounge, multiple inflight meals and drinks, amenity kit and so much more. There's nothing better when you have to spend 12+ hours on a plane.
Oh I would have loved that but I wasn't able to find any good business class airlines (Singapore, Emirates, Qatar) for the routes I'm doing in the coming time. All of them were 100,000+ for overnight routes sadly. Hopefully will find some in the future!

I flew from YYC to LHR. Long flights for a tall person first class (standby) was the best thing. It was my birthday when we went eastwards and arrived on a Saturday morning also on my birthday. And it was one of the most decadent experiences of my life. Being able to stretch out with extra room at my feet for my knapsack was also a real treat. Don’t know how people can afford 10K though. Try standby Alina it was $2.6k return!

I barely could afford economy class a few years back. Now I can get easily business class/first class by points and I know how to earns them. If you are living in western countries, it is so easy to earn them. Just watch how you spend.

Gluck. It is impossible to enjoy economy again once you've had a true business class experience. But going from business class to a capsule hotel is WILD.
And I get your angst about saving for upcoming purchases. I just spent $2.6k on a new Macbook because my laptop died on me. Unfortunately, I couldn't find a windows laptop that compares to it so I had to bite the bullet.

@@AlinaMcleod FYI - the Macbook is slightly cheaper if you buy it in the Apple store in Bangkok vs. Canada. I think I saved about $220 CAD. Not a huge discount but worth it if you are already in Thailand

Trip is too short to fully enjoy business or first class. But you must take full advantage of it to also fully make use of their lounges.

The problem is once you have flown Business Class you won't want to fly Economy again 😂😂 Interestingly, SQ do not give out amenity kits on their long haul flights to BC passengers. Always terrific service on SQ BC though and well worth the money 😂😂 Hope you manage to travel BC again soon 😂😂

That's my understanding, based upon my previous SQ BC flights and other You Tube flight vloggers like Josh Cahill / Sam Chui etc, unless SQ have recently changed their policy on this ?
@@keithhardy8513I understand it's still SQ policy. But then one vlogger asked specifically for an amenity kit and the crew gave him a kit. SQ is strange at times ...last year it trialled serving cardboard box catering on some long-haul flights to Europe and the US. For Y and premium economy passengers. But following negative feedback it scrapped the trial.
@@alexmcwhirter6611 YES ! I have just looked into this again and understand that amenities such as tooth-brush / eye shades / socks etc are available on SQ, "ON REQUEST" but they do NOT give out a fancy amenity bag to BC passengers like other airlines.

Singapore Airlines' business class has evolved, yet it remains one of my top choices for international travel. Alongside Singapore Airlines, ANA and Qatar Airways offer excellent business class options for long-haul flights. I can't help but feel nostalgic for the 90s. Shoutout to Bukit Timah, Holland Village, and Singapore American School-those were the days growing up in Singapore!

I've taken about 200 flights in the last 10 years and I got upgraded to business class by Etihad when flying from Dublin to Abu Dhabi. I couldn't believe it, thought it was something that only happened in movies. The previous month I paid for business class seats with Aer Lingus from Dublin to Chicago as I had never flown business class before on any of my travels and I was curious about it. Never flew business class before and ended up flying business class twice in two months. It's a lovely way to travel. Wish I could do it all the time!
