I would like to see some smaller airline reviews, I know your travel revolves around your business, but these legacy airlines are becoming stale

Great comment and thank you for making it. Here's the problem I've got and hopefully you (and the others) can help. My last 3 videos were all on smaller carriers or unique aspects of the aviation industry but all were way down in their views. This is due to either the TH-cam algorithm not liking them or viewers not being as interested in them. If you could do me a favour and watch them this will encourage YT to promote more of this type of content. Also let me know if the videos themselves are the problems :)
The 3 videos in question are (you will find them on my channel under Recent Videos - or search the terms below):
Uzbekistan Airways - beautiful flight over the mountains from Tashkent to Bishkek in economy class
Aer Lingus - economy class from London to Dublin with a sneak peek of my behind-the-scenes filming of the aircraft engineering operations at Dublin Airport
Qatar Airways Global Operations Centre - how one room controls 30,000 flights and over 30m passengers per year.

@DennisBunnikTravels I watched the Uzbekistan & Aer Lingus videos, I believe they were both filmed in economy, which is of little interest. Other than having cool liveries, an economy seat is an economy seat
I don't know how I missed the Qatar special, I'll be sure to watch it.
I do enjoy your videos. They are top quality, keep it up!!!

I love your flying reports, and love the touching of the plane going in and coming out. 😊Singapore airlines is my favourite, and Changi airport is a big part of that experience. We fly from Perth and have slightly shorter first legs if the trip and layovers, but indeed, those are very long travel times to Europe, arriving early mornings with a long day ahead, so doing what you did is the best scenario. I normally keep moving at Changi to circulate the blood and there is so much to see! Happy travels! 😊

I love Singapore Airlines and you were partly responsible for my decision to upgrade to Business Class on Singapore to make a long awaited re-visit to my favourity country, Australia - I saw your and other vloggers trips in Business Class and I decided if I was going to go back to Australia, it was going to be in Business Class (my last economy trip was survivable but jeez, it was hard).
I managed to find a travel agent who specialised in low cost business class, and my dream became reality. My only regret is that I didn't give Singapore long enough, and that I didn't give myself enough time to transit in SQ on the way home. I flew A380 LHR - SIN, then A350 SIN - PER - then A350 BNE - SIN - then 777 SIN - LHR. The best overall was the A380, the best for sleeping was the 777. The regional A350 was great for 5 - 8 hour flights with so many options of food, drink, entertainment and sleeping that the time flew. IMO Singapore Airlines knocked it out of the park. My trip to Australia was amazing and by upgrading to Business Class, so was the getting there and back. Thank you Dennis for the inspiration that gave me life-long happy memories!

Great video Dennis - Adelaide is always a little difficult due to that early morning flight and long layover in Singapore but I’d take it every time rather than fly to MEL or SYD - I think that in this day and age dining on demand is always the best choice as you mentioned ,you didn’t preorder because you didn’t know what you’d feel like all of those hours later - maybe breakfast was more what you’d like at an earlier time - ah the decisions ? - hopefully you didn’t experience too much jet lag 🙄 oh those seats - I hate the foot storage

Hi Dennis, great video as usual. I would eat first and then sleep. Being 6'3", I might have problems sleeping comfortably in the seat you had. You really should consider unabbreviating your US states, TH-cam’s world audience doesn’t know-and isn’t required to know-every single US state abbreviation. Americans do this all time (and are known for this) now I see even well traveled ones doing it as well. Do you know all of Australian state abbreviations? Great video Dennis! I really enjoyed this one! Especially the flight from Adelaide 🇦🇺 to Singapore 🇸🇬 on that beautiful Boeing 787-10! Also, that video where you went behind-the-scenes at the Qatar Ops Centre was really good I highly recommend it!
Great video I also think garlic bread on a plane is the best idea yet for aviation catering! Also you flew SQ, went to Singapore 🇸🇬 Changi & flew to Amsterdam 🇳🇱 ALL ON MY BUCKET LIST SOMEDAY! I also just love your music choices at 10:00 and at 10:21 doesn't jazz music especially piano always just make a lounge or a flight review feel more fancy! 🤣 I remember the last time you used this song on your United Airlines review from Newark to London Heathrow on their B767-300 in Polaris Business Class...

@@DennisBunnikTravels I absolutely will! Also, could you tell me the name of that Jazzy Piano song used for the lounge?
I'd like to take Singapore flight 12 in SQ First from LAX-HND-SIN on the B777-300ER and fly back to the USA in Singapore Biz from SIN-JFK in their A350-900ULR! IF I EVER HAVE THE MONEY! 😆🤑 Also, I saw one of their BRAND NEW B787-10's (9V-SCU) 🇸🇬 Being manufactured at the Boeing Factory in Charleston SC, I was going to make a Behind-The-Scenes video there with some Boeing people but for complicated reasons, it didn't end up working out, and I was also told I can't post any of those photos... A real bummer considering it was a beautiful night in South Carolina and the planes were all lit up with the spotlight and just shining. 😞
Anyways, I also have a new video coming out very soon from a very secretive, Brazilian aviation museum located right next-door to the Embraer factory & HQ so definitely keep an eye out on my channel for that video. You definitely won't want to miss it! There are almost no videos of this museum anywhere on the Internet so I hope the video is very popular, of course it will be another one of my Guided Tour videos just like I did at the Delta Flight Museum in ATL & several others. Here is that playlist if you'd like to check it out, the video will be added there soon. th-cam.com/play/PLyAY3KQqnNkaphqid92ALWKLGYHIDM8Kt.html
I'd like to have it finished by Saturday Jun 15TH 11:00AM EST.

Isn't the Singapore Airlines amenity kit too basic as compared to other long haul carriers? I find the same about Air France and KLM too. In fact, Air France and KLM don't even provide a seat cover for their seats in business class, which is very surprising. Great content as always! Hi Dennis, really enjoy your videos! We're flying London to Sydney via a stop-over in Singapore in December and I'm really looking forward to experiencing SIA business cabins based on videos such as yours. With regards to the meal service/dine-on-demand question, I would prefer to have dine on demand - as someone who gets terrible jetlag, trying to manage it more recently with the help of an app, so usually the meal service times clash with 'sleep' time. Do you have any tips for combatting jetlag or experience with melatonin? All the best and safe travels! (Gavin & Stacey for the win!)

I totally agree with your comments, Dennis. Just back from BNE - MUC- BNE on SQ Business. They are my go-to airline for trips to Europe. I found the only disappointing issue is the seat design on Regional or Medium-haul Business. The hard moulding privacy barrier restricts space around your shoulder area and obscures any viewing out the window. The long haul business seat is the best I've found on all the carriers that I've flown!!

Business class is most likely good. However the Singapore airlines economy Adelaide to Singapore is terrible. They know they have little competition ex Adelaide and the seat pitch is awful. I am a big frame but not fat and the tray table pushes uncomfortably in the guts. The food offerings since Covid ex Adelaide is terrible. On top of that they have removed the good A350s rom the route with suspect 787s. Even to day they have found faults on the riveting of 787s. How do they know it did not happen to past units. Then SQ712 SIN to BKK has also been changed to a suspect 787, the meal service on that is slop in a cardboard box. Our most recent trip was three weeks ago and we have used Singapore frequently on these routes since 1996, however we will now avoid S Q at all costs using the opposition or going via Melbourne with others. Shame on SQ management, crew are great but management uncaring for Adelaide.

Dennis Bunnik, shortly after the 18:20 mark, made a claim about Iranian airspace having been closed, and that the Singapore Airlines flight had needed to divert away from Iran via various Central-Asian ex-Soviet republics, Azerbaijan and those parts of the former Georgian SSR under control of that last ex-Soviet republic’s government. There was a time when airspace of even more of the former Soviet Union had been closed, and that’d been during the 20th-century Cold War, but, thankfully, following the collapse of the USSR, more ex-Soviet republics have opened up their airspace to carriers not based in the former Soviet Union. Even Belarus and Russia had opened up their respective air spaces, although things changed once again following the 2021 diversion of a Ryanair flight to Minsk Airport and 2022 Russian Army invasion of Ukraine. Following the latter, few airlines based in NATO member states or allies thereof have chosen to fly over Belarus or Russia, with avoiding flying over the latter ex-Soviet republic having meant taking longer routes, some of them over the Alaskan port city of Anchorage (even if unlike during the 20th-century Cold War, not having to land in any part of Alaska or another US state due to improved range of post-1989 aircraft as opposed to those built before 1990).

I did the 5am Emirates flight from Melbourne recently to London and although I did end up just passing out, staying up on the 2nd leg for that bit would have been quite useful. I did sleep quite a lot on the 1st leg and didn’t go to bed the night before.

Given how sketchy airlines meals (especially United’s,) can be, I usually make up a snack at the club, to have onboard.

There’s no doubt, even with no current destination to which that airline flies that is based in the former Eastern Bloc. That said, I’ve yet to find an airline based in an ASEAN number state that currently flies to any destination in the former Eastern Bloc either.

Well, how can you beat dine-on-demand? You have infinite choice, you set you body clock and sleep whenever you want. One thing I've noticed is some people can't sleep unless they are full, and other people are the complete opposite.

Dine on demand - like Qatar!! No brainer - everyone decides their eating and sleeping schedule for themselves. And I absolutely detest the seats used on Dennis’s second flight. He’s right - they were designed for one-legged pirates! SQ should do better!!!

Agree completely with you on the SQ long haul seats. I won’t fly them in J long haul precisely because of this experience.

The 22:00 mark slightly precedes a claim by Dennis Bunnik of the European Netherlands having been the part of the world in which he had been born. The surname had appeared to me to have been of Ukrainian origin (with -ik a common suffix of names written in that language).

I prefer set meal timings. While I also see the benefit of Qatar’s dine on demand, it is terrible for other passengers as the serving and noise of cutlery can easily wake up others.

  • @wdielwlairajmd
    @wdielwlairajmd 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

I find with Dine on Demand (eg with Qatar or in BA 1st) most passengers just have their meals at the start and end of the flights anyway. And the crew tend to encourage this as the middle of the flight is when they have rest shifts. I’ve even had dine on demand denied on Qatar on a nighttime departure from Bangalore (ie the crew said the mealtimes were set)

I prefer dine on demand - after all, you can always choose to eat at the 'appropriate' times. I find SQ a bit too rigid about this. Although that T3 Silverkris lounge does a lot to make up for it...

    G'day Dennis,
I recently flew SQ Business class to Turkey, returning from Dubai. I had the Long haul seating on an A350 and Syd-Sin and 777 on the return leg. Im a little on larger side around the waist so I found the Sleep mode very Uncomfortable with the Very small Foot Well. Having to get out of the seat to set the Bed and likewise return to Seat mode was rather inconvenient. Even just Reclining and raising your legs to Flat was a chore as you had to turn your body to fit the Hole meaning your back was not against the Back of the seat. Also, being on the larger side, I could not get the table horizontal to my body. 👎
On the other hand, my seating from Singapore to Istanbul and Dubai to Singapore had the staggered seats. Despite being not as wide, they gave greater flexibility for Sleep. I was able to set the Recline to Almost flat which I find Very comfortable. Definitely My Preference👍
I wish I had this seating for my Singapore to Sydney flight 🤯
Regarding your 9hr transit in Singapore, did you have automatic access to the Lounge in Changi. I actually flew home from Amman Jordan, first on Royal Jordanian to Dubai with their Domestic style Business class seats as it was less than a 3hr flight. They did not issue my SQ boarding passes in Amman, and was told to go straight to the Transit Desk when I arrived in Dubai. I did that, however, as my Transit was 7.5hrs more than 3.5, they would not issue my forwarding SQ Boarding passes until 3.5hrs before flight time. This meant I could not access the Shared Business class lounge for SQ until I had the Boarding passes.🤬
    Enjoy your future travels
    Cheers
    Simon

That's annoying re the lounge Simon. I've had similar in Bangkok in relation to Oman Air flight - long layover and they couldn't issue boarding pass so couldn't get into a lounge.

I hate late flights. I always sleep then have breakfast I eat at the lounge when I fly Business class, when you pay as much as these seats are I tend to use all of what's on offer... The good thing with these airlines at least you can get a sack if you are a little hungry....

I could watch 33 hours of Dennis Bunnik and his travels. I'd love to try Singapore airlines but I really don't like the footwell arrangement - looks very uncomfortable. Dine on demand is wonderful - if I feel alert I'll eat after take-off but if I'm really beat then sleeping and eating later is a great option.

From Los Angeles, where I live, most Asia or Australia flights leave late at night. My strategy is to eat at the beginning of the flight, then (try to) sleep. By that time there are only a few hours until landing. Also, adjusting to the new time is easier. If I sleep right away, there'd be a long, long wait until arrival. Great reviews, Dennis--you're the best! (Some time I'd love to have a long chat with you about my very disappointing experiences with Qantas.)

For a flight departing at that time, I'd almost prefer a light snack/meal afer takeoff then a good breakfast prearrival to get a good rest.
