'Unlikely' that object in new UAP video is camera smudge: Expert | Vargas Reports

  • New footage of a purported UAP, or unidentified aerial phenomena, shows something that resembles a jellyfish flying in the sky, its tentacles dangling in the air. Dr. Matthew Szydagis, a professor of physics at the University of Albany and an expert on UFO research, joins "Elizabeth Vargas Reports" to discuss the "strange" object, which he said resembles a droid from Star Wars. He said it's "unlikely" that it's just a camera smudge as some have speculated online.

The location of it on the screen remains the same until the camera moves and then it moves at the same rate. My guess it's a squashed bug on a piece of glass that is protecting the moving camera inside. Also it's brightness only changes when the background brightness is changed but a higher amount, indicating it's closer to the lens.

I agree - It’s pretty clearly something on the camera housing cover, not lens itself (most likely avian excrement, yes)
Note: I’ve had undeniable UAP experiences (imo) - and believe fully. I also know bs when I see it.
All the debunking of the “smudge” theory here is accounting for the camera lens only, not the protective casing the imaging system is housed in.
Also, WSO’s and technicians may be professional observers, but they’re human - please believe me, I’ve also experienced “highly trained” pilots etc. make silly errors
**7 years in the RAF Regiment (ret.) here - it was also on deployment in Mazar-e-sharif, Afghanistan, early days of Operation Herrick, I saw a UAP (one of).

I have to agree that it looks like a smudge. It is very likely bird poop. And the reason the smudge may seem to move is perhaps due to subtle adjustments of the auto-focus capability of the camera. I wouldn't be surprised if the clip - that part which is spoken of but that we have yet to see - that shows it disappearing it into water is just the camera further zooming in and therefore making the smudge disappear.

I’VE SEEN ONE OF THESE!! But MUCH bigger! Aside from size everything seems to be the same. It flew right over our house barely above the trees. It was completely silent. Looked metallic with chain like “tentacles”. It was the same color as the sky and blended in perfectly as it glided over us. I remember it being a little bit smaller in width than our two car driveway and it left a weird black trail behind it. Not of smoke or anything. It was just darker than the rest of the sky. I’ve been searching for this damn thing online for years, as this happened back in 2009 and is what started my ufo obsession since. No matter what I came up with, there was absolutely no logical explanation for it. I was even emailing a dude from the Adler Planitarium about it for a while there, as he seemed very interested too. PLZ LET ME KNOW IF ANYONE ELSE HAS SEEN THIS THING!!!

"A five-member group of geologists and glaciologists led by Dr Anil Kulkarni of the isro's Space Applications Centre in Ahmedabad were on a research trip through the barren Samudra Tapu Valley. They filmed a four-foot tall 'robot-like' figure, that 'walked' along the valley, 50 m away from them. The humanoid object then rapidly became airborne and disappeared. This is a nighttime recon of a location using night vision camera. Cameraman is viewing through a chopper door window. You will notice the camera sways slightly left/right as it is handheld. Camera zooms in/out slightly - but the interest is NOT the “jellyfish”, they are looking for subjects on the grounds. This is either a bird dropping or insect smear on the window (not camera lens).

You even can clearly make out how the stuff of the smudge is driping down on the bottom of the smudge. Thats what they think are "wierd leg like things".
Its not legs but clearly snot drops runing down on some surface.
Also they are not *following* anything in this video.
They are just doing their standard survailance sweep is all.
But hey yeah, apperently the UAP is trying its damn hardest to stay in the path of the camera not matter what.
Because thats what UAP's do, right?
They colour change is in the entire frame. Has none to do with the smudge alltogether. Its just the camera sensor adjusting for a new light situation and having a tiny bit of problems with at first, as is normal.
Also the change in dimensions (sometimes it looks like a 2D ghost, sometimes it looks like a well pronounced 3D object ... thats the light falling in from way different angles and shaping the object differently-
And so on and on and on ...

The camera and reticle sits behind the glass and can pan, tilt and zoom independently of the housing it is in.
Birds quite frequently will roost on top of the balloon camera housing.
The change in color is the glare it is receiving from lamp posts and lights down below.
The camera housing spins around 360 degrees under the tethered balloon,

Incidentally even in December (which is the calmest month for wind in Iraq) the wind speed is still an average of 10.4 km/h. The wind at that time of year is shifting from the short summer period where it is predominantly blowing from the west, into a north wind that sticks around for the majority of the year. It is especially difficult to guesstimate the wind speed or direction in Iraq *specifically* in September to October! ... Drone cameras are usually behind a protective piece of glass. When the camera moves or zooms a smudge on the glass would appear to move as well. If the camera looks up the smudge would appear to descend and if it looked down quickly the smudge would appear to shoot up! The smudge is not on the lens but the glass in front of it. and a trained technician is going to follow that smudge, that changes heat sig, for over an hour? and that smudge somehow disappears underwater and reappears to fly away? at some point you must realize, a smudge doesnt explain this. also, by your description this smudge would be obviously unable to be followed across an entire camp if the camera was rotating behind the smudged glass. it would turn away, the smudge going opposite, and disappear off screen, which doesnt happen.
no matter what it is, the idea that this is a smudge is just poor attention to detail or a desperation to explain away anything unknown.

Unfortunately I can't agree with your logic as I am only referencing this footage. 1. The change of color is not explained just speculated. 2. There is no footage of it going under water yet. 3. The object is not the focus of the surveillance, the base is. Here is a more detailed explanation. It's like an optical illusion. There is the base which the camera is looking at. Then much further away is the drone with a camera on it. But between the camera and the base there is a piece of protective glass that surrounds the camera. The smudge or chip is on the protective glass. When the camera rotates behind the glass, the center or its cross hairs pass by and around the smudge. Because you are watching from the fixed perspective of your monitor its looks like the smudge is moving but it's not. The smudge is stationary on the glass and its just the camera moving around and past it. When the smudge moves off the screen that's just because the camera is pointing to and looking through a part of the the protective glass that is not dirty. In addition just remember that the drone is moving constantly while the camera is looking around independently which contributes to the illusion of the smudge moving even more. Hope this helps . @@magicalfungi3206

As the 21st century began, human evolution was at a turning point. Natural selection, the process by which the strongest, the smartest, the fastest, reproduced in greater numbers than the rest, a process which had once favored the noblest traits of man, now began to favor different traits. Most science fiction of the day predicted a future that was more civilized and more intelligent. But as time went on, things seemed to be heading in the opposite direction. A dumbing down. How did this happen? Evolution does not necessarily reward intelligence. With no natural predators to thin the herd, it began to simply reward those who reproduced the most, and left the intelligent to become an endangered species.

The other most significant event was the recent advent of birth control. For the first time in human history, the best and the brightest are having the fewest children instead of the most, at least in the western world. These two events combined are an evolutionary disaster for our species. I'm not suggesting we should turn back the clock in any way, just pointing out the reality. I don't think we're capable of addressing the issue for myriad reasons.

Some have mentioned the camera could be housed within a glass dome which has a smudge on it and as the camera moves the smudge would pan across it slightly although imo if that was the case then the smudge would probably be a blur on the lense and not so sharp. Others mentioned the camera could use multiple lenses together which could also support the theory of a smudge. I think it personally unlikely that this is a smudge but without knowing the exact details of the camera system and how it works we cannot be sure. Also i suspect any real UAP footage the US military acquires they will keep that a secret and instead release footage similar to this that has doubt and possibility for debunking. If this UAP did infact submerge into a lake for 17 mins before flying up into the sky then that would immediately dismiss any doubt that this is a UAP. Hopefully we get that footage.

I am not a scientist, but my father was one.
Dad only believed in things he could hold, break up and examine.
Basically the original tenets laid down by the great man Sir Francis Bacon, (who lived during the reign of Queen Elizabeth 1st of England).
Bacon laid down the approach of objective and experimentive research, empirical research.
Inspired by Bacon's treatises and other work, a group of scientists created the Royal Society, which exists to this day.
So, my basic instincts tell me, whomever, or whatever, is operating that machine (once it is proven to be an actual object, not a digital artifact) must carry a power source that can run all the tiny cameras all over it, reflecting its immediate surroundings (if human made, and the US Army tested such equipment during the Iraq war, probably that film has been removed by the great distopian youtube controllers).
However, it seems to me that the system requires a lot of power, so it needs to be used only when necessary.
Lastly, the ability to suspend gravity without exothermic thrust, which is really noisey, or propellers, equally noisey, means this unit, if real, is WAY BEYOND what is publicly known.
Lastly, I cannot believe these academicians who forget the fundamentals and complicate things.
The system obviously needs to shut down to conserve power.

The comments regarding "How could military experts possibly confuse debris on a predator drone camera shield for a UAP?", firstly the chain of custody of this video has not been revealed. What does that mean? That means that we don't know exactly who submitted the video to news outlets, or whether or not it passed through any sort of military investigation prior to being leaked. So, lets say it was a smudge on a predator drone camera shield, and let's say that the guys who flew the mission thought it might be hilarious to upload the video online as a UAP video just for laughs. Definitely possible. A smudge on an external shield would behave exactly as you see in the video because the camera operates independently of the external protective shield, lending the illusion of an object moving. Additionally, the object moves at the speed of the drone, but independent to the swivel of the camera, so I would like to see a more detailed breakdown explaining why this isn't a smudge on the protective camera shield. Trust me, I am someone who wants to believe that this isn't a smudge. I know that UAP are real, but the way this was released brings up some red flags (no chain of custody, claims of amazing movement of the craft which are conveniently not available in the video, the lack of any shadow or observation of the craft from the ground, no secondary sources whatsoever, no radar, the craft maintaining a speed 1:1 with the drone, the craft maintaining consistent horizontal placement in relation to the drone, etc etc)

The chopper at distance going one direction, circulating the object, which is stationary in the middle between the chopper and the landscape/horizon, without realizing the camera is in reality tracking the houses, very much like zooming your camera at the mountain and a fly enters the frame few meter ahead, the UAP just so happens to be closer to the camera than the horizon, almost as if the chopper and the horizon are rotating around the center point which is where the UAP is in this dynamic.
The color changing is indeed related to temperature changing (due to this being a thermal camera), which proves that the object is stationary or slower, the chopper is circulating it, eventually framing the side of the object that is facing the sun, which is hotter, then framing the other side, which is colder, thus, changing the temperature at face value and perspective, and because there is this changing in temperature i know this was not recorded at night, the sun was up still, i would dare to guess somewhere about 17:15 PM.
