I'm so sorry. "Pride" was meant to be the last u2 request, but the live version lingered... and that lingering thread needs a conclusion. This conclusion also answers the cars in the scaffolding question too... Yes, it's all insane. it was maybe the greatestest, most insanestest night of my life. Enjoy!!!
    Lyrics
… You're a precious stone, you're out on your own
You know everyone in the world, but you feel alone
Daddy won't let you weep, daddy won't let you ache
Daddy gives you as much as you can take
    Aha, sha-la. Aha sha-la
Daddy's gonna pay for your crashed car
    … A little uptight, you're a baby's fist
Butterfly kisses up an' down your wrist
When you see daddy comin', you're lickin' your lips
Nails bitten down to the quick
    … Aha, sha-la, Aha sha-la
Daddy's gonna pay for your crashed car
Daddy's gonna pay for your crashed car
    … You've got a head full of traffic, you're a siren's song
You cry for Mama, and Daddy's right along
He gives you the keys to a flamin' car
Daddy's with you wherever you are
    … Daddy's a comfort, Daddy's your best friend
Daddy'll hold your hand right up to the end
    … Aha, sha-la, Aha sha-la
Daddy's gonna pay for your crashed car
Daddy's gonna pay for your crashed car
    Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday
    Thursday, Friday, Saturday's alright

The Zoo TV/ Zooropa tours were an absolute assault on the senses....completely changed how much I respected these guys as artist and performers.

I was not a fan until I was given tickets to ZooTV in Melbourne. A life changing experience. I went out the next day and bought their entire back catalogue.

The cool thing about the performance is that the character, Mr MacPhisto, is doing a dance that parodies the dance that Bono does at the beginning of the show when he sings “Zoo Station”.

This song was from their EP "Zooropa" that was recorded and came out while they were still on tour for their previous album "Aghtung Baby". That tour which was "Zoo TV" was possibly the longest tour they ever did I think. The first leg of this tour was all arenas which instantly sold out. Then they did a "Outside broadcast" stadium tour in North America and then in Europe. The final leg was I believe in Australia, New Zealand and Japan. This concert was recorded during the very last leg of this enormous tour. At the time it was the largest spectacle for a rock show ever and U2 ended up spending so much that I believe they ended up just breaking even. The screens and computer controlled animations were state of the art at the time and had never been done. This is all so common now that when you see this it seems normal. But just think about what year this was put together. The money explosions were not real currency. They were "Zoo dollars". Great reactions guys!! You're also the first reactors I've seen that have reacted to this obscure song.

ZOO ECU was the currency in 1993. Managed to see the Zoo TV tour 4 times in Europe through 1992 / 1993 - nothing has come close to this tour since - from anyone - not even U2 - a complete league of its own and wild ride. Great reaction!

I love the use of those old East German Trabant cars as lights. They also had a DJ named BP Fallon as well as Paul Oakenfold do pre show dj sets from inside a Trabant car.

Still have my Zoo tv money from the Dublin concert ... been to lots of U2 conerts over the years but this was the best tour by far only one came close was them at Slane Castle ... U2 is not a concert it is a life event that you will never forget ... I'm 50 now and glad to say i didn't need a mobile to remember a concert .. put the phones away and enjoy it and the moment .. from an Irish U2 fan can't beat an Irish U2 concert they are special ....

On the Zoo TV Tours Bono played the role of a few characters like The Fly, Mirrorball Man and this one Mr MacPhisto. He described MacPhisto as an aging version of The Fly who has went to Las Vegas. It's quite funny as the band has recently announced that they will play in the brand new state of the art Sphere arena in Las Vegas with a show focused on Achtung Baby which this tour promoted. Another fun fact is Bono was offered to star in a Batman film as Mr MacPhisto which he turned down, but the band recorded their song Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me for the film.

Zoo Dollars. I got some when in London ZOOTV concert. it was NUTS....AND BRILLIANTLY SO...... He phoned up the 'Archbishop of Canterbury' (head of the Church of England) live from the stage, dressed as the Devil character. He male secetary answered....and informed 'the Devil' that he was in 'America'. Of which Bono (in Devil voice asked)....'Would that be, business or for Pleasure'. Crowd erupted......

Achtung Baby was released in November of 91 to universal acclaim and worldwide success. U2 had to figure out a way to take this music on the road
the latest and greatest in software hardware and men's wear for the Zoo TV tour you had to put together a mixed media barrage complete with exploding cannons costume changes and a belly dancer. Bono adopted the stage character of the fly a megalomaniacal rock star, He had Jim Morrison's pants, Lou Reed's shades, and Elvis's jacket I mean it was like an identikit pop star just going for it Full Tilt's and that's what Zoo TV was all about.

MacPhisto is the name of the character he is playing... you nailed it it when you said Elvis. He represents an old aging out of touch rock star. They put on a damn show thats for sure! Also it was not real money.. it had MacPhisto's face on it.

Mr. MacPhisto is one of Bono's (the lead singer of U2) alter-egos.
MachPhisto, portrayed at the Devil, is a washed up rock star, trying to give himself a dignified end in Vegas.
He is The Fly, after the evil of The Fly (his megalomania, self obsession, lust for power) has turned into a want of money and legacy.
It’s mad to think this tour happened in the early 90’s . Revolutionary and has dated at all
U need to see the opening song zoostation . Great opening

ALL OF THE FOLLOWING HAS PROBLY ALREADY BEEN SAID, I apologize if so
The "Elvis" observation was DEAD ON
and , Bono even openly has admitted that his persona on ZooTv was a combo of Elvis and many other glorious rock and music icons
    GREAT GREAT SONG
    thanks for doing it

      I disagree aha
They took risks just like with Pop. I miss this edgy U2 which completely vanished after Beautiful Day
