Guys I love your reactions! I hope you get to read this because it’s really important to this performance even though you have already seen it. This concert in Paris took place one week after the horrible terrorist attack across the city that year. The attacks took place on a Friday night at multiple locations by an organized cell, the worst of which was a concert hall where The Eagles of Death Metal were playing a show. Dozens were gunned down on the floor and the band ran for their lives. U2 was in Paris that night as their concert was scheduled for Saturday. They got the EODM out of Paris on their private jet that night. Bono lobbied the government to reschedule their show ASAP.. this was the first public event since the attacks. The intensity of pain and healing was POWERFUL and Bono’s message was we choose love over fear. Bono also kept in constant contact with EODM during that week. At the end of this show, Bono told the audience to welcome some friends… “they had their stage taken from them last week so tonight we offer them ours.” The Eagles of Death Metal came out, did a song with U2 and then U2 left and let them close the show themselves. The whole show was beyond belief. My wife HATES concerts on TV… she watched this with me and cried at least 5 times.

The original version of Bullet the Blue Sky was against war and the US war industry based on the wars U2 experienced (from the side line, but still too close) in Nicaragua and El Salvador. It's so raw and angry.
In this version it is still against war, but additionally Bono having a conversation with his younger self about his activism and the criticism he got for it. Fascinating addition to the song.

This is song was written about the Central American war in the 1980’s and Bono witnessed American bombers. Very powerful and highly metaphorical in the lyrics.

First, the U2 rhythm section really holds it down, and never gets enough credit. Second, the slide guitar is so dramatic and bad ass in this song. Third, no front man is more effective at roping you in than Bono. Amazing band.

Great live version. Saw U2 a couple of times in concert back in the 90s. Have you heard some of their earlier stuff: 40, I Threw A Brick, A Day Without Me?

In the history of music only a very select few have been able to consistently put on a show that reaches epic proportions Queen, Pink Floyd, Rolling stones and U2 are among those select few, enjoy U2 whilst you can as it won't be long before they too are just a distant memory.

I’ve seen the stones and Pink Floyd. Nothing matches U2 live. It’s the emotional connection. The flawless performance that exceeds the album versions by far, and being the most groundbreaking live band of all time in terms of stage construction and technology.

Bullet the Blue Sky is an album track off the Joshua tree. It’s different on the album to this live version
The conversation at the end supposed to be between Bono now and Bono age 19. What would a 19 year old Bono say to Bono today.
Bono does a lot of charity work and takes a lot of criticism for it. When he says at the end he runs into your arms he means the u2 fanbase. U2 fans by in large will always have Bono’s back despite the flack he gets
It’s a great version live and makes it very theatrical
    Great review 👌

Congratulations, great choice. From the same concert there is a fantastic song package Bad+People Have The Power with the brilliant Patti Smith. At the end of the hit single City Of The Blinded Lights, U2 remember the 89 victims of the dastardly terrorist attack at the previous Eagles Of Death Metal concert, 130 in the entire city; but also a musically touching concert.

This is the one song that gets a makeover every tour, depending the current state of world and the band. This Vegas Sphere show is the first time this has been played on tour since 1987.

Are you saying hasn't been played? Because they didn't play bullet at the sphere, and they didn't play it during the e and i tour in 2018. They did play it in 2019 during the continuation of the Joshua Tree anniversary tour though.
      Source: me as I haven't missed a tour since 2015's I and E tour.

Your reaction suggests you have no idea what the song was about! That wasn't a performance by U2, it was a stinging criticism that forces you to making a moral judgement, well beyond whether you liked it or not, or who will be offended. It's actually a severe criticism of America (my country in cr*p in many ways too.)
