Wow, time out the Corvette was never considered a supercar. I own a Corvette and the Corvette is a beautiful great car but it’s a blue collar performance car.
It’s reliable, easy easy to maintain gives great performance for the money. That’s the marketing value of the Corvette. It’s the best bang for your buck so the middle-class person can still afford a few thrills on the weekend.

A 5.0L (302) Coyote V8 with 2 extra cylinders gives you a 6.2L (376) Coyote V10.
The Cadillac 16 basically did that. Some company also fused two LS's together to make a V16 more recently.

They could've brought that engine, the GR-1 concept, the Cobra concept...imagine a V10-derived Coyote today, or a Predator.
Hell, even back then, imagine the Terminator but being a V10. Still supercharged.
But the power figures are not correct, they claimed this 5.8L was about 430 hp (which was just 20 hp shy of a Viper) and some 400 lb-ft.
The 605 hp was the 6.4 V10 from the Cobra and GR-1.
We would definitely have a 6.2L Coyote V10 making close to over 620 HP NA.

Except it didn't. The power and torque numbers and where both kick in at, combined with the weight. Nope. Only reason ford didn't buy a viper and make a release kicking its ass is because even they were smart enough to look at the numbers on paper and know it wasn't gonna happen.
Imagine having to work on this motor , no room under the hood . You would have to pull the motor to change plugs .

I remember this very well. I wrote to Ford about it at the time. By the way the 427 v10 was The Ford 500 concept car. They even did a 396 v10 for the Shelby GR1 concept car. I was pleading with Ford CEO at the time to make these engines. Wrote about between 3 and 5 letters pleading.
