Simpsons is pretty fascinating with how its technically an adult cartoon but it’s also not so adult that making toys for kids themed after it would seem weird in any way.
It’s the perfect middle ground, really. Like yeah, there are some episodes that kids SHOULDN’T watch, but for the most part, it’s a family show. Always has been.
@@SeekerofTheLost Yeah, there’s less appropriate episodes but for the most part the entire family can enjoy it, I feel like we need more of these kinds of shows today honestly.
Ah, the 2001 Treehouse of Horror toys. The Mr. Burns one unsettled me so much as a 5 year old that I begged my parents to get rid of it. My dad kept it in his cubicle at work for almost 20 years. Now it sits in our living room. Great video, as always!
Here in Mexico we have a movie theater chain called "Cinepolis" and during the release of the Simpsons Movie they gave the same figures from the "greetings from Springfield" set. I think I have the full collection, amazing video btw

Those Simpsons Movie Burger King toys were a point of GREAT controversy amongst us 8 year olds in the UK at the time. All the advertisements had the regular versions of the characters that the US got, but we got the gold ‘statue’ versions. We also couldn’t figure out why Russ Cargill looked nothing like the character in the movie, and why the Homer toy sounded so weird! To this day, the ‘Yeehaw’ sound that he makes sounds totally wrong to me.
That’s actually really interesting! That explains why I couldn’t find any UK specific commercials for it. As for Homer, that yeehaw is 100% The Rich Texan. Why Homer says it however, I have no clue.
The Russ Cargill thing i could explain: Movies go through a lot of changes, so Russ’s design changed during production was probably last minute, and the toy manufacturing company was too late to change the design to the new one. It still happens today: It happened again with the first sonic movie with the redesign, but the toys still kept the old “ugly sonic” design used during the first trailers. Hope this helps explain some stuff!
Homer says "yee haw" in a similar way in the movie when the angry mob picks up their car. The one on the toy might be a different take of the like before the movie was done.
It would never occur to me that Australia would've been the country outside the US to seemingly have the most Simpsons tie-ins. As an Autralian who grew up in the 2000s some many of those I such vivid memories of

Honestly thought Burger King's Simpsons tie-ins stopped after the movie, but surprised to see it lasted into 2015. Kinda sad it just stopped after that, though it seems kids meal toys have been on the decline anyway (at least in the US).

That reminds me of a failed sitcom that aired on Fox called The Pitts. It was like a live action cartoon, and the first episode had the daughter get a metal pipe go through her head and get stuck.
Ah man, the talking watches brought back some memories. Getting fast food as a lower middle class family was always such a massive treat that I would play with the Kid's Meal toys like crazy and hold onto them longer than probably most kid. I remember that I had the Krusty the Clown and the Family Road trip one.
