    The Simpsons is so huge and impactful that my whole school actually saw its movie in theaters during a first-friday-of-the-bimester special activity (2-3 full classes per theater iirc). I was still in middle school and ofc didn't know much about the show back then, so I had to quickly marathon whatever episodes I could find on TV when I first learned that we were going to do this. It was a really nice memory.

    Two short but fully animated deleted scenes were recovered before this video was uploaded and are on TH-cam. Sideshow Mel saying “citizens avert your gaze” instead of Mrs Skinner saying “don’t look where I’m pointing.
    And I don’t know if it was Minnie Driver (sounded like a generic Simpsons background character) and some in the comments suggested it was Isla Fisher’s cut character but I think it was one brief clip of that grief counsellor right after the bomb was lowered. Moments after Homer slides down the rope (running off the time on the countdown. it is also still upright on the floor.) Maybe she replaced or was replaced by Driver before the character was cut completely. Or two were sent into the dome.
    It also had the animatic version of the Mrs Skinner part and you could make out Mel’s original animation behind her.

    I remember seeing in promo art and in the trailer, the scene of Green Day falling into the lake, they had their original instruments rather than the violins ala Titanic. As well as a close up shot of bassit Mike Dirnt playing was what looks like a small fire ball shoots onto the stage.

    • @KasumiKenshirou

      It's so odd. So, OK, just quickly explain it to the audience, then instead of introducing a brand new character.
      I heard that this is the same reason that we have President Schwarzenegger instead of Rainier Wolfcastle, because people in the audience didn't understand why they were calling Arnold by some other name or something like that. They could've worked around this supposed problem by only ever referring to the character as "Mr. President", so those that knew who Wolfcastle was would know it was him, and others would think it was Arnold.

    the exchange between apu and wiggum was wiggum saying "see that's why i like cats more"
    there's actually a very obscure czech deleted scenes video from the simpsons movie now reuploaded on a yt channel called "SimpsonoviNET" that includes some scenes that I believe have never been seen elsewhere. It was gone from the internet for a few years but it includes a bunch of deleted scenes that were dubbed into the language. I will all of the deleted scenes from the trailer would end up in the movie. The scene where Marge have a talk with Reverend Lovejoy about the church and the additional footage scene where Dr. Hibbert, Wiggum and Apu have a conservation while being chased by the dogs that Mr. Burns releases the hounds should’ve been in the movie, right before The Simpsons drive to Alaska. Also, several scenes from images and the trailers should’ve have been in the film. Some deleted scenes end up in the DVD features, but all of the deleted trailer scenes should’ve been on the features of the DVD features too.

      Honestly with the whole production and plot revisions, there were a couple different versions of The Simpsons Movie plot being tossed around before they ultimately settled on the pig pollution plot used in the final product. There's so much cut content in The Simpsons Movie ranging from the test screenings to unused characters that a lot of them sound like they were fully animated or at the very least storyboarded at one point or another. So much of that stuff should have been included on The Simpsons Movie DVD and Blu-ray instead of the very small amount of deleted scenes that was put on those releases.

    The one piece of marketing I really remember was the American Idol sketch, where Homer, Marge, and Lisa judged Simon, rejected him, then dropped him through a trapdoor into a lion pit.

    Both were included on the DVD.

    Erin Brockovich’s role was said to be as herself. Don’t know what it was but I know that part were Lisa puts water from the lake in everyone’s drinking glasses was also in the Julia Robert’s movie about her. So I guess that’s my theory over what her scene/´s could have involved.
    Thing is I remember hearing some of these “guest star” like cameos or characters appearing and early on and don’t remember any you didn’t mention. Kelsey Grammar and Minnie Driver I did hear about and Green Day was the only one not cut that was confirmed around that early time (Tom Hanks I found out about right before the movie was released.)

      I second that. It really was lightning in a bottle, but considering how our culture and society has shifted over the last two decades (particularly in the booming streaming era), I don’t see how the sequel would capture the same impact. Everything’s superhero propaganda now; I don’t follow it, but I think it’s probably for the better that I shouldn’t, because the way those movies are formatted aren’t just the same as they were decades prior - mostly in terms of storytelling and craft.

    I’ve seen early previews of that mob scene that had cut and alternative dialogue:
    Lenny: Who are we supposed to kill again?
    Moe: I think the people in the front row.
    (Can’t remember the exact lines but)
    Marge: It’s a mob
    Homer: A Happy mob?
    No Lisa going your monster and Marge sees the mob saying “Look what you’ve done to us. Our only hope… (as in the movie up until “I’m part of the mob.”)
    Homer saying he went to retrieve the TV remote.
    People tried to access the bedroom through the window instead of their door as well.
    Sources:
    2006 comic con animatic (only one publically shown not released on a Season whatever DVD as a preview).
    American Idol contestants at a test screening (don’t know if it was the same one.)
    Both can be found on TH-cam still. The remote one was taken from a foreign language preview although i never saw the full thing it was the clips of the local voice actors recording lines that wouldn’t make it into the movie.
    But I can recall two others, one that was on a release animatic DVD preview where Homer says he’ll take a break from whiping to change arms. This was replaced with Homer jumping that gap with the dogs going jump and land. And the only other foreign language preview deleted gag I can remember was when President Schwarzenegger says he’ll have to go back to doing family comedies a voice over would follow promoting a sequel to the movie he had a poster for in the Oval office.

    • @Robinem
      @Robinem 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ok there was an animatic preview released on the season 9 of the scene where he dumps the silo. But has some cut or alternative dialogue. One possibly referencing Marge having the vision in church:
      Marge: I don’t think that’s what silo’s are for?
      Homer: Are you questioning my farming skills?
      Marge: Homer it’s leaking
      (As in the movie until the toy monkey tells him to listen to Marge)
      Marge: God spoke to us for a reason, I’m not sure what that reason is but I’m asking you to dispose of that waste properly.
      Cuts to Homer rushing to the lake (Spider-Pig was written after this was released) and the signs Homer drives through all said something other than no dumping (“please reconsider” “you’re killing us dude” “B**tard” to name a few) and no Hans Moleman.
      Ends with Homer looking out of his car window saying: This feels right.
      So one reference to Marge’s vision and maybe originally Homer went straight to the lake and didn’t do it for the chance for free Donuts.

    • @newguy371
      @newguy371 ปีที่แล้ว

      The scene with Homer changing whipping arms was actually voiced and partially animated. It was used in early trailers, but I haven't been able to find them.

      @Robinem ปีที่แล้ว

      Ok I think we were talking about the same thing after all. If there wasn’t any color and backgrounds did most of the moving then that was the one.

    • @newguy371
      @newguy371 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Robinem Different one. It was an early TV ad. It's just the sled dog scene and it goes up until Homer says, "That's enough whipping. With this arm!" Then it cuts to the "The Simpsons Movie" title. It was probably one of the generic white background ones. Considering it was a TV ad that included a scene not in the actual movie, I'm not surprised it hasn't been uploaded. It may have been pulled very early on. I know this one existed because I didn't see the animatic one until recently.

      @@SeekerofTheLost Apparently this is also why we have Schwarzenegger instead of Rainier Wolfcastle in the movie, to avoid confusing people who hadn't seen the show, but they just ended up confusing people who had seen the show. I have no idea why they didn't just simply refer to him as "Mr. President" or "Sir" and avoid the whole thing.
      The Milhouse situation could've been solved with a line of dialog, e.g., Bart telling Milhouse that Lisa just isn't into him, and that he should know that after all these years.

    An alternative reaction to Marge saving the wedding video without sound. She was more annoyed as she hid it in her hair.
    Sideshow Bob (temp voiceover I think, sounded nothing like Kelsey) in the mob: Kill Bart, Kill Bart
    Moe: Actually we’re just going to kill Homer
    Temp soundless shot with a still drawing of the dyslexic group chanting lick.
    Homer gets caught hiding on another truck after pretending to drive the boat on the back.
    Animatic of a chase between the squirrel and raccoon around the movie’s logo.
    And animatics of Marge and Lisa talking about Collin (aka right before Spider-Pig), Homer “and his chainsaw” and the exchange between the family during the credits. Featured a different take of Lisa reacting to Collins flowers being set on fire too.

I’d rather watch almost any older episode from the first 10 years than the movie. What was the highlight? Spider-pig? that was a 2/10 joke at best. The only time I remember laughing was the “I was elected to lead not to read!”

      I agree that they released the movie WAY too late and it was nowhere near as good as the episodes of the golden years in the 20th century. But it was better than the mediocre episodes that were airing at the time the movie came out, but that's not saying much.
