A proper gentleman's express for a true gentleman. Unlike our good friend Mr Seabrook down under, I applaud you for not lighting up the tyres. Obviously I would also have applauded you had you actually set them on fire. I remember that there was a tradition that a new Jaguar car would be handed over to the owner with a bouquet of flowers in the back seat. I wonder if this practice continues today.
Yes sir, definitely transport for the discerning gentleman in a hurry who needs some practicality. It wasn't what I expected to drive that day, but I was really grateful to Ibby for providing it nevertheless. I felt like I was on the High Peak Autos channel driving this... Don't know about the flowers, sadly.
We aim to please, sir! This car just wanted to go, it didn't care much for speed limits, so I had to rein it in a bit. I expect that you would have had fun too!
Have just purchased the 2014 sportbrake, traded for an Audi A5 Black edition......honest opinion, the DSG gearbox on the Audi was better, and also the B&O Sound system just about wins against the Meridian......but that's it.... for 15,800 GBP, This car is an absolute beast. Just keeps pulling, seats are so comfortable, massive boot, cameras all round........look for an Audi with 55k on the clock for 15-16k and you'd get nowhere near this spec or performance
This car was a last minute replacement for what I was going to drive that day, and so it is sort of outside the normal remit for the channel, but I did very much end up enjoying it nevertheless!
I own one of these and its mint compared to the condition of that one. Mine has had a remap to 301BHP and when those 2 turbos are spinning she absolutely flies..... gorgeous looking car too.
Yes, it was a bit of a last minute decision to film this, as you may have gathered, so there wasn't time to scrub it up, and I think Ibby was using it as his daily runaround at the time. It was certainly fast, the one you have must be ridiculous! I do like the look of these, I would probably have dark green or dark blue with a beige leather interior, but Matt from High Peak Autos would love this colour combination.
The XF was a transformative car for Jaguar, it made the break from just trying to exist in the past to looking forward to the future I think. It is a lovely car and there is a sense of theatre in the interior. And it was a lovely car to drive. I wanted an XF 3 years ago but bought an Audi A6 just because I got a 25% discount along with a better PCP package. But I think the XF is a better car. Thanks for this review, an excellent video!
Thanks John! Yes, the facelifted first generation XFs are really nice, and the second generation ones even more so. The Audi probably got a better PCP package due to better residual values. I did just stumble across it, really, as Ibby happened to have it, and so I quickly looked the information up in order to make the review. It is indeed a very impressive car, and is lovely to drive. Glad you enjoyed it!
@@lloydvehicleconsulting indeed, Audi offered a slightly better residual value, combined with a lower interest rate and a much bigger discount it made the difference too big to ignore. However I have to say that despite what people might expect I have found Audi quality to be very average and despite using all VAG standard parts dealer servicing is expensive. When I replace it I don't think it will be with another Audi. I love the XE (glorious to drive) but my wife wants an SUV and I am hanging on for some the new EVs and PHEVs to go on sale.
Ah yes, the good old MG HS plug in hybrid! Very much looking forward to that when it comes out. Should be a lot more affordable than an Audi to buy and run. I like Volkswagen Group products very much, but Audis in particular tend to be expensive to service, rather like a BMW or Mercedes-Benz, and all three have average reliability. I like them, but the running costs are a bit high for me. The XE is a nice car, I just found it a bit on the cramped side, personally.
I have an identical car and you have done what i occasionally do-forget to pull the tailgate cover down which only gives you a letterbox when reversing! Great car to own
I filmed this a long time ago now, and have just completed three more episodes of Contingency Reviews, actually. Thank you ever so much indeed for watching!
Good honest review, and I appreciate the fact you admit to not being an expert but just honestly like them...the internet needs more transparency like this ...one question...how can you tell it's a press car via the Reg? A quick google search brought up nothing, I've just bought a 2013, 3.0 portfolio, unfortunately not the Sportbrake or S which I'd have preferred but it's a stunning example, It has a 'J' in the Reg so ....Here's to hoping ...haha
Yes, this was done at the last moment, as I was supposed to be filming something else. It was a lot of fun, though! Typically, Jaguar Land Rover press cars have started with OV or VX plates for a number of years now, although it is possible that this may have been owned by their management fleet or just registered by a local dealer in the area, it is pure speculation. This isn't the High Peak Autos channel in that Matt would have had experience of several of those, but we have very different taste in cars anyway, so even if I did, we would still come to different conclusions. I suppose that is the beauty of TH-cam!

Rocket car, great tone and detailed review too, bravo - be interesting to see this next to that crazy Jag that’s round here.

I love the air vents on this car. Great cars, I can’t believe how cheap they are now.
