Great addition for the price. Let me give a couple tips that helped me as well as answer some questions I see posted here: 1st, adding an intake of any kind does not void the warrantee accept for the parts you actually touch (intake, maf, hardware). 2, you do not need to tune the car after install but make sure you disconnect the battery before installing. Once installed connect the battery and take it for a drive and cycle through S and SI modes and get it up to speed. This will let the computer make adjustments. 3, do not over oil the filter as it will mess up the maf. Also when taking the maf off the old intake and putting it in this one, do not touch it or get it dirty. 4, have a 8mm wrench with you too for the hose clamps that are facing weird angles. 5, don’t cut the 30, 15 1/2, and 3 right away. Start putting the molding around and cut as you go for a better fit. 6, If you need to bend the support bracket, take the time to take it off and bend it, do not just grab the filter and push. 7, Have fun! This is a nice mod that gives you a nice little sound and a couple ponies. Hope this helps someone.
Oh, and I did it on a 2017 WRX with CVT.

Thanks for your support! Over the years, K&N has tested hundreds of "faulty" MAF sensors and has never encountered a single sensor that failed due to contamination from filter oil.

Won't it overload the MAF right away? I feel like it would need to be tuned....

Will this Air Intake modification void warranty? Will it require a new tune? Will it pass smog?

It seems they are avoiding these questions. Numerous people asked about the tune with no response..

Will this work on a 2017 wrx?

No, I tried, forced failure. You would need a tune for it, but seeing as it overloads the MAF right off the back, it's not possible to step out. I returned it until I can get an OTS map and an intake that's been tested through it.
