Heat is pretty damned good as far as racing games go and i heartily endorse it. I have to laugh that because of how i work on videos a few weeks in advance, after this video was finished off and uploaded to patreon (So my patrons could see it weeks before anyone else), they announced an expansion with an orange McLaren type car in it, complete with a track dedicated to a famous McLaren event, the rain soaked 1976 Japanese GP. I also 100% recommend the film Rush about the 1976 F1 season, it's pretty much the movie of this game. Anyway, as a massive lifelong F1 fan, its pretty easy for me to say that Heat is the best racing game i've played. But don't overlook Formula D, which heavily inspired Heat and is friendlier in many ways to play.
I bought this on a whim, not really enjoying racing games generally, and it’s been a really pleasant surprise! I’ve enjoyed it a heck of a lot solo and have also introduced it to a wide variety of people with great success. A great game for sure
i actually found mine in a store that barely sells board games, it was one of only 6 titles they had on display among 1000 funko pops and other geek tat
The one problem with the BGA version is it's HARD to explain the heat mechanic to new players when there's no actual "heat pile" visible - and it was slightly counterintuitive to begin with (the fact that "heat in the engine" is when it's... NOT a problem?) But that goes for tons of games there, much the same way it's super smooth and convenient when you actually do know how it works
The icons you get from Adrenaline (+1 speed and cooldown), are used in the react step along with boost, cooldown from gear, etc. You only GAIN them in the previous step. This is important, because you often want to see how far you boost before deciding to use the extra speed or not. Otherwise great video as always! ❤
I think I enjoy Flamme Rouge a little bit more, but Heat plays solo a million times better. They also both emulate the feel of their sport extremely well.
Yeah, they are much larger and nicer than the formula D ones. There is also space in the box for another 2 cars, so one assumes expansions are on the way
I very rarely review games as soon as they come out, and this one has been very popular and it has literally has been unavailable in New Zealand since day 1. I found a copy in a non-board game store and picked it up, which is the only reason i got to it even now. This game is a perfect example of the extra challenges we face on the channel, as they only gave away review copies to people in the northern hemisphere, and then because of the popularity of the game, almost all the copies of the game were sold to northern hemisphere shops.

If you aren’t making “Vroom” noises, you’re playing it wrong.
Vroom was a fantastic Atari/Amiga video game.
Very well paced presentation.
I have played it online and loved it. Looking forward to getting a physical copy when it’s back in stock lol
Great review Jarrod! Just picked up my copy on sale. Thx!
I've been playing this a lot on BGA since it hit the site, and I'm hopeful to have a copy before the end of the calendar year.

I remember playtesting this game with the makers many times. The whole group really loved it! Not surprised it is a big hit.
Oh wow, that's cool.
Got it late Nov, barely played anything else since!

Remember, these videos are not a rules vid. I omit things all the time for brevity.
Annoyed I missed this one, looks fun.
Its real good, id be happy to play it any time
yup! great movie, thrilling races plus characters with a soul! very touching too. also like Ford vs Ferrari (longer though), Rush is leaner meaner 😉
saw solo demo-easy and clever 😊 even non racing fan (played Gran Torismo, Need for Speed a bit 😅on PC and PS) wants to try

Heat: Sold out to the metal 😥
It keeps selling out because its pretty damned good
are those models come with the box? if it is is a instant buy for me. every boardgame is better with models lol

Huh, I'm surprised you've not made a video on this yet…

@@3MBG That does make sense. It does seems to be continually sold out…
