Really enjoyed your video. On the KFO Poppy tank, I say frog it. If it’s off gauge and you’re already not satisfied with the fit it’s probably not going to get any better. I call it “Wishful Knitting”. We all do it! Cut your loses and reclaim that lovely cheerful yarn!
I had the same issue with my socks. I then tried knitting at least 4-6 rounds before decreasing when doing an afterthought heel. The 4 rows I tend to do for DK/Worsted socks and about 6 rows for fingering weight yarn. I don't always stick to the same amount because it depends on the yarn, but I did get a feel for it over time. Hope you're able to figure it out!
Hey I knit socks all the time and what you wanna do is for the afterthought he’ll knit at least 4 to 5 maybe even six rows before you start decreasing so you add more fabric right there before you start decreasing, I usually add three rows before I start decreasing for regular foot
A good year's knitting! I too have a high instep, and the heel flap and gusset fits me best. So I always swap in that style heel. For your colorwork socks, I always go up a needle size on colorwork. I also knit my colorwork socks inside out, so my floats are just slightly longer, for a better fit.
I would say follow your instincts about the red top. If you're already feeling that it won't work since the beginning, it means it probably won't, and if you do finish and are not able to wear it, the sunken cost will be much more I've crossed over to 2025 with 3 WIPs and finished the last of them today. I was casting on my first knitting project of the year while watching you :)
That red cotton merino looks so good on you! I love that top, but it is hard to advise you what to do because i don't know where it doesn't fit right. If it is just the length of the straps, I would bite the bullet and spend the time figuring out how to lengthen them. You can do it, and it probably only will take an hour or so once you sit down for it. Also, have you tried wet blocking it first? It will be worth it, as some yarns relax a bit, and after blocking it might fit better (or not, and then you will know what to do too 😂). If it is too tight around your bust, and that would make you not wear it, then I would frog for sure. Good luck!
I agree with this! I think it wouldn't take that long to actually modify the straps, and it is a beautiful garment, with so much work done already. Finish it now so it's ready to wear in spring and summer
Adding some extra stockinette rows or picking up extra stitches in your afterthought heel should add more width to the sock in that area and help with the instep issues. I think you should try and finish your pink lace cardigan with the short circulars. I also hate magic loop and don't love dpns, and short circulars have been a game changer for sleeves and socks.
my sock tio would be to try heel flap and gusset. ther are a lot of heel flap and gusset all over colorwork socks out there, and it's a really simple modification once tou understand the construction my preference is moving the gusset decreases to the bottom of the foot and knitting 1X1 colorwork in that section it would also help to adjust the fit around your foot, since you can just continue decreasing until you reach the smaller stitch count
i was wondering whether it is possible to have heel, flap and gusset in these particular color socks. It does not seem that heel, flap and gusset will change drastically in colorwork.
Maybe try blocking the tank before you make a decision. If the straps aren't right in the end I would say frog it. Even though the garment is absolutely gorgeous if the straps don't feel right you just wont wear it and that would be a shame. Id harvest the lovely yarn and find something that more speaks to you. Id also say watching you speaking about the garment you aren't in love with it, proud of what you have accomplished but don't seem overly crazy about the item itself. You light about a lot more talking about other projects.
Thank you so much for mentioning the knitpro minis 🫶🏻 I have had the worst time today trying to figure out what will work for me on a small circumference. This might be saving me ❣️

So relieved to hear someone else say they didn't finish every knit they started! I set out everything I made this year and realized the same thing! 😅
Hey, for a top down camisole do a provisional cast on for the straps and then later on you can knit upwards
Here to applaud the book selection 🎉

I use heel flap and gusset and do 2 extra rows well 4 total front and back and it works with my wide feet and high instep!😊

It looks like you’re ready for Finish it February 🌺

What yarn did you use for the beautiful jumper you're wearing? :)

I’d say frog the red cami. What’s the point of knitting if you don’t enjoy it?
