I tried the thumb up and down. Didn't like it. Went with the 100 percent twist. I love it. I hate the stock. I have a sur-ron and motorcycles. I'm so used to the twis. Its 100 percent twist for anyone used to a twist throttle. Thanks so much for the video
YOOOOOO I just added that thumb throttle and went on a 50 km (31m) ride and it was amazing f@^k the stock one it is garbage like night and day. I bout one before and didn't work so I sent it back. After watching your video bought another one and spliced the wire and rewired it and it worked like a charm . Thanks a mill will upload video soon

Got the pro with the other controller, will this work with the Mini motors ey3? The throttle up and down? Or should I say what do I need to do to change a throttle on mine replace with new screen etc?
Thank you Ginger!! I put the full twist throttle on mine and it's great 👍🏼 The scooter still has the occasional power surge though and im sure it's from the controller.
Thanks for the throttle tip. I'm changing my horrible thumb throttle after a year of poor control stop/starting on hills. BTW: The best "upgrade" for a Kaabo would be air suspension. I can hear all the spring rattling stiffness as you go over mild bumps. My Kaabo Warrior is the same -- too stiff for off-road, even with milder springs. I modified my Okai Panther with DMN Air shocks and it is just unbelievable how plush it rides now. I ride at 50PSI. Plus Air shocks are progressive, you can't bottom it out like the silly Kaabo rear springs setup. You do need to clean off, and spray anti-sticktion lube spray on Air shock stanchions occasionally... but so worth it.

Just curious how your thumb throttle is holding up. I love the feel of them, but my first scooter had one (ninebot max), and it started getting almost stuck when accelerating for lack of a better word.

Thank you so much for this video. I bought my Wolf King GT Pro before Christmas. Glad mine came with the fuses and chargers to help prevent the fires reported earlier in the year. I still ride motorcycles from time to time but done with moto crossing. I am up there in years and bones and joints may not appreciate the jarring as much. That goes for my aggressive inline skating too. I still do outdoor speed skating, recumbent long distance rides in the mountains, skikes and this scooter. I like weird things. You are right about the Northwest weather. I am in Cali but my wife's family stays in Hood River, Oregon. One summer visiting I went for a skate on a summer, sunny day...came back soaked...on a warm summer sunny day. Quick shower came over the mountains, got me and then left. WTF!?!??!?! Anyway, thanks for the throttle tip. That stock throttle does urk me. That dead spot and then the sudden surge kick really makes me paranoid when initially applying throttle. After I am going I am fine. I am going to order that thumb throttle you like to try it out. Seems more comfortable..like you can rest your thumb pressed against bar vs hovering there in the air.
been using the up/down throttle for a wile now and its great just received the full twist throttle so im going to see how that goes.

Thumb throttle has always been my favorite on any scooter. the first thing i do to any scooter i buy, is add a thumb throttle to it.
when i have sold my scooters, over time, i always ask the buyer if they prefer the original trigger finger throttle, on scooters that originally had the trigger finger throttle, and every time i’m asked to definitively leave the thumb throttle.
I agree, the thumb throttle is great for riding on the roads. Do you ride off-road much though? I find it that with the sharp back and forth jerking I just want to grab the handlebar with my thumb.
I received my Wolf King GT 2 weeks ago and I don’t have any surging problems.
All the throttles I've gotten with the wp connector have been plug and play on my Varla Eagle One Pro
Potentiometers easily have problems over time. For those of us that grew up with volume controls that caused this bad static noise when you turned it the fix we all learned was turn it back and forth really fast and it would temporarily fix issue. With a throttle being a failure point for enjoyment of scooter it’s best to get a brand name like a domino. All the testing can be done off the scooter hook a DVM and read the resistance as you turn the throttle and see how linear it is and how repeatable along with when the resistance starts and if it jumps at any point. So booking all these up is only needed once you screen the bad throttles out .

No is definitely the controller. Motor still kicks but not as violently and without the password and raised minimum voltage it's 100% sketchy to ride at low battery.

I have always wondered if you could change the thumb throttle to the twist. Twist always felt so natural to me, so now I can invest in this scooter!
Thanks to you Ginger On Wheels, I now own a Wolf King GT Pro lol. One thing that's been working for me in these first two days of ownership is placing the tip of my thumb at the base of the throttle where it rotates, then using the palm of my hand to squeeze the stock throttle. Makes a HUGE difference in granularity you can get with the stock throttle. I hope this helps someone.

I just tried to do this upgrade and I followed your wiring diagram exactly. When I plug in the throttle my wolf king just wants to take off. When I turn it off then back on again I get an error code. It’s a full twist throttle from alibaba on a 2024 wolf king gt pro.

Friends? Meh.... I guess we're on good terms but I trust him as far as I can throw him.
I use the same thumb throttle and I love it. Only downside is that, unless I spray some WD-40 once in a while, it becomes hard to modulate in small increments. It's kinda like when you push plastic against plastic, you can't do it slowly without it jittering.

I highly recommend using non-conductive lubricant such as silicone grease. WD-40 is marketed as a rust remover but it will actually cause rust to build up if it is not cleaned off and a proper lubricant is applied.

I’m also looking at WW King GT Pro, and knowing that the throttle can be swapped makes me happy. Though the WW will be my first thumb throttle so I’ll see if I like it first.

The thing that bothers me is why do you have to fix adjust or play with anything since this scooter costs $4000
Sadly thats just the name of the game in this newly emerging industry where most if not everything is made in China and all the factories are sharing and swapping parts.
Because it came from China and quality control takes a back seat to mass production? Seems this is the way with this hobby from my experience. On the other hand I like to tinker and improve my gadgets no matter what they are regardless of who makes them so there’s that too. Same goes for my cars and vans. Bigger rims, better tires, better exhaust, better timing, improved computer, brighter lights, etc.

We see it a lot in the scooter and EUC world now where the first gen will be great then they'll slowly start finding cheaper parts and ways to make the gadgets cheaper without the customer noticing.

The thumb throttle you are using isn’t available anymore the wires are green red black in the inside so what would be the pattern to make it work
Have asked through the dealer to have a stock throttle tested and re-calibrated by Kaabo AU or I'll have mine tested independently at the local Uni.
Mine's being password locked from day one so I wouldn't count on that. Changing the torque setting on the front hub on mine does not match the display graphs as power is constantly being switched between rear and front hubs according to it but the scooter remains smooth and powerful.
What ever they flashed that nice TFT display with needs review.

that thumb throttle is called "Wuxing 130X", they also make "Wuxing 300X" wich is apparentry better.
I've been riding motorcycles for over 50 years so a full twist throttle on my Laotie ES19 works best for me. Hated the stock finger lever thingie it came with.
Would you happen to know how to refill the fluid on the front suspensions of the wolf king GT Pro? Also, what kind of fluid?
Can I add the thumb throttle to my Dualtron Victor Luxury? I tired them all, but I prefer the thumb. The finger almost.caused me an accident because it's too close to the brakes.

The second throttle that you like most is on the Weped FS (im sure you know), I get very very small kicks like you say in gear 1 on the FS also, like surges of power almost feels like it will cut out but doesnt and then slight kicks in power, but very very slight- Gear 2 and 3 are fine, so I just leave the FS in gear 2 99% of the time. That full twist throttle could br worth a try..... Great video as normal man
Iv noticed on the kaabo mantis 10 lite after 1300km when you let go of the finger throttle you get a slight boost if power , maybe it's a fault in all kabbo firmware

1st one the twist throttle says it for 1500 watt motors. Gt is 2 x 2000

These scooters have pretty big batteries. How often do they need to be replaced. Are they good for so many cycles before they just won't take a charge???

Have you tried the finger throttle from the Wolf King GT Pro? There is no splicing of wires, it is plug and play. I paid $38.63 for mine. There is no dead spot.

UPDATE , I got a dualtron storm which is pretty fun but no IP rating , Rock hard suspension and terrifying speed wobbles over 30ish. Should of saved and got a GT 🤮
Thanks for doing this... I cant stand the stock throttle with the huge dead zone and the random bucking when trying to ease into it.
The bucking is still there but seems much less frequent. There is a mod you can do to remove stock throttle dead space but I just prefer having the palm of my hand planted on the bars when I ride so the stock throttle feels unsafe to me at high speed or riding trails.

I did the same test last year and found the thumb twist throttle the worst of them all. The lever style performs much better if the dead spot is shimmed out. Taking them apart the hall chip is slightly larger and magnetic strip longer in the lever thumb throttle which makes a difference in low speed performance.
You mean the stock throttle that comes with the gt pro? I'm going to have to respectfully disagree. I just don't feel secure gripping the bars with my thumb and palm not holding onto the bar.
@@GingerOnWheels Did you shim out the dead spot ? I pulled the top off and hot glued a 6mm plastic RC bolt to take all the slop out of the throttle on mine. It’s the not knowing when the throttle will kick in that also ads to the poor performance of that throttle. The best one I’m using now is a silver top thumb throttle I bought on Ali blah blah that has a more stubby lever placed much closer to the grip. Had to shim it also but it pays out the throttle more smoothly than any other I’ve tried for some reason.
i got this same thumb throttle and already have it wired up fbefore my king Gt gets here tomorrow, the only complaint i have is the throttle feels extra cheap lol but that's ok

Hey Ginger, another great video.., my question to you is the pin orientation on the wolf side. I'm swapping full twist for the thumb throttle and I know the pin orientation on the new throttle but not the wolf. You cocktail CAD is great with the wire colors defined but I'm looking for what pin in the plug is what. I did a post on reddit and nobody has the answer. You have done the surgery already and hoping you would be able to help me figure this one out.
I suppose I could take it apart and check, but I'd need a good reason. Why does it matter?
Wow you're the scooter scientist Mr ginge 😂 so putting the volts u to 60v do you loose range also on the battery display would it be safe not go pass the last bar on the battery symbol to prevent any safety issues/surges . So am I right in thinking that any throttle can be used on our king gt pro as long as it is wire to your diagram.
Yes, you would technically loose a few miles range by raising the minimum voltage.
I like the dead zone. I've bumped the throttle with my chest when digging into my pouch and was glad it was only a little burp. With no dead zone I'd probably have it take off. Can you use the oem grip with the thumb twister?

Great video. I bought the same throttle for mine. My other 2 bigest concerns are turning down the regen braking. At high speeds they come on 2 strong. I am also going to try to make a brighter rear led brake light using 5w chip led's and a heat sink. Do you know how to adjust the regen braking??

You should get your hands on a copy of the user manual. In there describes how to set the acceleration modes, I think there are five of them.
As for the "surge" the only time i ever get it, is after ive charged up (or possibly had it off for a week or so). i always pop it in 2nd speed now and place on dual motor and hit the throttle. it can jump hard then., put im prepared now, and thats it for the ride, no further problems on mine. A cautionary tale if your planing on letting a mate ride it for the first time after charging etc...
As for the throttle, im wondering if a spare apollo phantom throttle, (a bit like the bafang) might plug in and work fine without the modding? Anyone know? (ps. thanx for the offer to help get me sorted with a bafang throttle ginger)
But im pretty happy (and used to) with the 4mm super glued rubber strip on the base of original throttle to pad it out higher so you know when the powers coming in.
Hey ginger. I currently own a wolf king get pro. I reviewed your and purchased a thumb throttle to upgrade from the factory. I chose one of the throttles from the link you provided. I received it in the mail today, the wire colors are different; colors wiring on the new throttle is RED, BLACK & GREEN. The only wire that matches is the black wire. I need to know where the green and red wire is connected? Any assistance is greatly appreciated. Thanks Derrick
If haven’t swapped them yet it just won’t work if the wrong way. Would have been better to just identify what each wire is rather then just swap these two. I had bought the thumb throttle and just plugged it in at first and it did nothing then swapped the two wires and it worked. I recently just bought a nice DYOL thumb wheel throttle and wire are labeled on that so once I hook it up and it works I’ll beable to confirm which color wires on kaabos plug are which. Guessing black ground and red power and white speed signal

I got the wolf king on its way not a gt unfortunately but at least it has the upgraded forks not that all drive to to crazy but I would like to take it of a curb once in a while wish when things started to go out I had the know how to just upgrade it to the gt pro I don’t know much but buy the box mount the controller get the box for it put the bigger motors inside the wheels and bigger battery

You are so right about the up down thumb throttle. Just for comfort alone it was a game changer for me. $12 on Amazon US and bam, life is better.
Also, filling my brake fluid and bleeding bubbles helped a ton. Braking is so much better now. I don't think Voro actually checks the things they say they do on their check sheets. My brakes were squishy and had no stopping power. They did send out a free brake fluid kit though to fix the issue.
I should also mention they have the best price on 11in self sealing CST tires that come on the King GT. They are cheaper than China at $45 a piece. Bad job and good job Voro. I just wanted to take a break from all the Voro bashing I have done recently. Now I can go back to bashing.
I had the same brake issue with my king gt. To fix it I just opened the reservoir on the brake lever and closed it again, and it worked. I realized this after they sent me a brake kit lol
Same issue with mine and I ordered mine 3 weeks ago. Ended up doing the same thing filling from reservoir.
Perfect I was considering the same thing , well idea .I didn't actually know they made a thumb throttle like that . My only question is , Would it mess with the warranty ? I also wanted to ask about my rear brake locking up , does anyone else have that problem ? Glad you're OK and back riding bro .
I think cutting wires generally negates your warranty.

Nice one Ginge. So changing the Voltage from 52 to 60 stops the cut out that threw you off?
The password on the display in theory will prevent it from being able to turn on again by itself but when it happened on my ride it didn't necessarily shut down and boot back up. It just flickered on and off. So I'm not 100% sure. But between that, and raising the minimum voltage from 58 to 60. And promising myself to never run the battery down that low again. I just pray it won't happen anymore.

@@BRyeEUC Yes. Scooter slows down and eventually just powers the front motor only, then shuts off. No idea if it behaves differently under load (and I refuse to be the guinea pig for that again), but that's what happens with freespin.

I'm not a fan of the sudden acceleration or kicks when you start so I'm thinking of getting the minimotors trigger throttle from dualtron ($35). From what I heard this throttle have more of a gradual acceleration before you reach your top speed.
Is it the EY3 display? The one on the WW11
Not compatible with sinewave controllers on the gt. Minimotors controllers are square wave and MUCH more abrupt than these sinewave on the gt.
Since you are not cutting anything on the king gt and only the throttle, would this still void the warranty?
Is there a way to change the regenerative braking power / ratio applied to each wheel?
I'm getting a lot of rear wheel wobble when breaking from high speed, activating only the regenerative braking with light brake squeeze without engaging the physical brakes..
We need the option for a trigger throttle. I really don’t like my thumb throttle
They actually do make one now, it's just coming out but you need to get it through official channels because it has to be matched with the serial # on your scooter. At least that's what I've been told. I should be getting one in the next month or so from Kaabo to test out.

No. Minimotors throttle can be replaced but it's much more complex than the throttles in this video.

Hello, I picked up GT Pro and want to swap out my throttle, I picked up a 130x with 3 pins and tried it, with no response. Do I need to rewire like you show in your diagram (about 1:57)? can you give me some advice, really prefer the up/down throttle .vs. lever action. - thanks
I just brought the thumb throttle. And when I cut it in half.. the colored wires don't match in his description. Mine are red, green and black. On his it's grey purple and black.. so I'm a bit confused. I bought the same exact one he had in his description.

LoL I admire your courage to get back on the Kaabo WK-GT Pro and the extra effort you have went into this video especially I was wondering about throttles..The first throttle the twist looked awesome. Great review this has gave me ALOT to think about. Ginger do you find that the change of thottles kinda or somewhat changes the riding experience?
Yeah it definitely changes the whole experience. I very much preferred the twist throttle for road riding but when it gets really bumpy, like when I was offroad, I needed that thumb control.
Checked out your videos on the king gt pro and they're very informative and you seem to know your stuff. I'm seriously considering purchasing one. I've noticed there's a gt pro plus now, any idea of the difference between the models? Thanks for any help, can't find any vids on it anywhere.
After looking, it appears to be the exact same scooter. Not sure why they added the plus on the end at Eevees. 👾
@@GingerOnWheels I've actually spoke to Kaabo since leaving this message. It's different controllers and screen, seems a downgrade. Odd considering it's the PLUS model.
@@craiglee3653 oh snap! Maybe they fixed the random throttle surges and low voltage behavior with the new controllers though. Any specs on the amp output of the new controllers?

They fix this my gt has not had this got it week or so ago got 300 miles
