I have... I think GoPro gets around this by softening footage a little, better color reproduction (and dynamic range), and also better encoding... Such a shame as the user experience fo the Osmo 4 is much better@@editorskeys
I’ve never had an action camera before and was drawn to this over GoPro not least because of excellent experience with a DJI drone. My use will be a motorcycle trip in the US in October and a 4,000 mile trip next year plus assorted mountain biking and camping. You’ve (thankfully) added to the positives!
Great review. I also brought this as my first action camera primarily for capturing footage while snorkelling and cycling. Using this in the sea with the floating handle is a game changer. I also really like the Horizon Steady mode which gives you perfectly level sea horizons - especially useful at the beach. I wish Apple could implement a similar feature for iPhone. One thing you didn’t mention is that this will overheat in less than 5 mins in 60fps or higher when in 4K mode, unless there’s cool air moving over the camera.
What blew me away was the quality of the video inside the Church. I have the GoPro Hero 10 and simply love the quality that I get from it. I don't color correct and film as is so 10 bit is not necessary (to me). You guys did a great job on this video and I am afraid to watch your comparison between the GoPro Hero 12 and DJI OSMO Action 4. It's going to be the nail-in-the-coffin for GoPro (until they one up OSMO with 13 or 14). I do have 2 questions for you guys: After you upgraded the software to be able to shoot softer video, did you find the quality to shift to cyan? And, how come you guys keep driving on the wrong side of the road? O wait, you are in Britain, Never mind the last question.
Hey thanks for the comment! Yeah the inside low light footage comes out great on the pocket 3! Yeah the hero 12 is still a great camera and I did also notice a little colour shift too! Haha I’ll try driving on the other side, but it might not end well
Looks like it may be the best action camera out there - well, until the GoPro 12 is released!!! I do like the magnetic clamp - looks really useful - and for the money you do seem to get more accessories than the GoPro 11.
Please explain the GPS feature. I'm under the impression that the camera doesn't have this built in, but requires a specific wristband with that feature.
So my interest in this camera is the fact you can use a USB c mic directly into the camera like the DJI Mic kit. The worst thing about using a GoPro 11 for vlogging is the fact I need a mic adapter, mic receiver and a big ugly wire between the two. makes the set up way bigger than it needs to be

The noise reduction just blurs the grain that you have on a image when in low light situations. It's now updated to numbers instead of "high and low". from our test we personally didn't think it worked that great and would advise just keeping it on its default "0" I hope this helps and feel free to ask anymore questions Trey. Did your filter kit fit both action 4 and action 3? The official website notes that the filters work for both, but I recall that the filter threads are different?

Ohhh bonus 3rd question...3) I have had the Air 3 since launch now...as it also has Dlog-M, will your LUT pack for the OS4 be compatible also to achieve the same consistency - in your opinion. To the content creator, hopefully, on your next video with similar subject, you include on your clips/footages which camera setting\s you used on a particular clip/footage you are showing. Example, is it using RockSteady 3.0 or 3.0 plus, etc. By doing so, your viewers will be provided with an idea of the setting\s on such video output. That said, making comparison will be much quicker. Just got to the sharpness part of the video. Really appreciate you getting some extra shots with the low sharpness. If there's any chance you guys could now do a comparison with the sharpness update against the hero 11 with medium sharpness too that'd be amazing
