Great video, Question how did you hook up the A/C clutch to the new fan to come on when the A/C comes on. I have an 2002 ford ranger edge, and want to do the same thing, but can't find anything on how to wire the A/C clutch to come on when it is in demand, thank you....!
If you want you can wire it into the fan controller…. The fan controller has a hook up to your compressor switch. I didn’t bother with it though…. Where I live it’s quite cold so no need really.
Have you been able to test the fans cooling capability? Was wondering how the metal fill in around it either helped or hindered overall air free flow. Vs fan pulled sir
Hmmm I haven’t towed with it yet but I’ve been driving a lot and so far so good. I think it might bring the engine up to temp quickly but once the fan is running it sucks thru a ton of air. Standing in front of the truck you can really feel it pull the air through. Once I’ve towed with it I will let you know.
I didn’t, due to my 170 t-stat and the fan cut in setting I have the fan running a lot. Basically as soon as summer hits it’s on and shuts off only when the truck is off.
Yeah it’s really not that bad. Including adding the metal to the shroud it probably took me 4.5hrs that’s with installing the coolant sensor in-line and wiring it up.
I replaced the head gasket on my 2.3 ranger. Went to put the clutch fan back on and it pretty much just disintegrated so now I'm trying to figure out how to wire this ebay fan 😆
@@RangerShop1 I got my fan wired in, it came with a thermostat switch that was way too low and just ran all the time. Then I put in a 200 on and 185 thermostat switch in but think that's too hot now haha
Hello @RangerShop Great video thanks for the info You stated that you would do a follow up video to tell us if your fan setup worked or not and if you had to make mods to get it to meet your needs I hope it will work on my 1996 3.0 2WD Ranger too.... I would think it would since my engine is smaller and doesn't have 4WD but does have AC ..Cheers
@RangerShop You kind of skipped around the wiring part @10:30 on the video when the sound dropped out ....Where did the plug you are holding come from ???? Is the plug from the truck wiring harness or is it from the aftermarket fan controller 🤔 its kind of confusing
Yeah sorry about that… ok so the fan controller runs everything - you just need power and ground to the controller. Then you need to tie it into Key on power so it knows when it should be running. I got that from the connector I was showing…. It’s just my speed control connector. But you can use anything…. Any key on power would work, I just used my test light and kept checking wires till one was off when key was off but lit up when key was on. Then I tied into that. Hope that makes sense.
Budget restraints never let me work on my two rangers. yet they've withstood the test of time a 98 and a 99, still running strong.
I hear you…. This ranger is my 4th and the first one I’ve heavily modified all the others were great little trucks!
Great stuff. How did you delete the EGR without throwing engine check code?
I swapped in a computer and wiring from a 2003 it came with no egr. I did that when I installed the manual transmission and transfer case. 👍

did you install a trinary switch for the a/c function?
I didn’t, due to my 170 t-stat and the fan cut in setting I have the fan running a lot. Basically as soon as summer hits it’s on and shuts off only when the truck is off.
Is this a pretty simple project at home?

@@RangerShop1 is the sensor an important part in making it work?
How's this fan working for you with the supercharger?
Perfect! We are in the middle of a 5000 mile round trip pulling my trailer. Absolutely no problems 👍
how your gas mileage any improvement?
Honestly I didn’t drive it much before throwing the supercharger on it. But since doing that yeah my mileage is definitely better.

I like my electric fan… but I ended up going with a controller that ramps the speed depending on the temp.

I’m going to try to put together an update video on the supercharger and fan installation tomorrow…. Stay tuned. So far it’s worked great 👍
@@RangerShop1 Thanks Im looking forward to it
