    using crimp terminals is actually better than soldering in automotive use. Soldering doesn't hold up well to the heat cycles and movement it might experience. If you crimp correctly you'll never have any issues with them

    Hey great video! I have a aftermarket temp gauge on my vw bus and I’m installing this radiator. I have a wire going to a fan switch next to my aftermarket temp gauge to turn on fans manually. Plus a wire from temp gauge going back to engine connecting to sensor. (How I bought the bus) If I connect the temp gauge wire to the same female connector as thermostat sensor on this kit, will that be correct for getting readings on my temp gauge? Do I need to match wire ga for all these wires too? Or can I have a 16 ga connect to Same female connector that has a 18 ga to it?
    Sorry if that was confusing. My bus is quite the conversion.

    Hi so the wiring on the fan the blue is positive, and black negative, I understand some are push ,pull , for that do you use the black as a positive, and blue negative 🤷‍♂️, there should be some instructions to determine this 🤯

    • @ChrisNCars

      Pull push fans have 3 wires usually. These fans should not be installed on front of radiator or be pushing air towards front of car. I’m not sure why you would wire it any other way?

    Hey man good content got a lot of my questions answered. But I have a question for you. On a newer Chevy engine (99 Vortec) can I place the thermo switch on the water pump ? There is a plug on one of the ports and the adapter that comes with the switch fits right in the port. The one port has a piece of water hose that goes from pump to intake. The port right next to it is plugged off. Was wondering if I can install switch in that spot??? Any ideas ?

    • @ChrisNCars
      @ChrisNCars  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It’s best in your manifold. If water pump is your second best go for it. Just keep in mind water coming from radiator or heater will be cooler than what’s coming out of engine. You want the heat of engine to trigger thermostat so think of the flow.

      Performance update on my install of this aluminum radiator with electric fans. Well. It was too good to be true. The price was too good to be true. First; my radiator began to show signs of small leaks. I reached out to AlloyWorks and got a new one sent under warranty. But had to pay for shipping which was $35. Not bad. Never out the radiator in. Few weeks later truck over heated due to both fans taking a crap. Verified fans were toast. Put 12v to them and no power. I even questioned the speed of the fans. They cooled but didn’t pull enough. Reached out again and they didn’t wanna budge until they finally did and I returned the warranty radiator and got a full refund. Still have the old radiator and burned fans. Really unhappy with AlloyWorks as far as performance of their product. Better to invest in good quality expensive fans and or radiator. Sometimes it’s more expensive when you go cheap. So I put everything back to OEM.

      @@ChrisNCars Thanks for the quick reply! They just looked longer than mine, but could be the perspective or the C10-20 difference. If you don't mind, I have another question. My 72 has the stock, original 350. I figured it would be fine to just use the mechanical fan since there is clearance. Would you see any issues with this? My biggest worry is that the 4 row might run to cold.

      @@sirfaulkinator all depends on what your doing with the truck and when your driving it. I use mine as a daily driver so needed to be able to idle in traffic and withstand 105 degrees outside. If you throw a fan shroud on you should stay cool, make sure you put a proper thermostat in and you shouldn’t stay too cold.

      @@ChrisNCars Gotcha, thanks for the advice. It's usually a weekend driver, but my Friday commute to work is about 45 mins one way in the East Tennessee weather, (Cold winters, hot summers). I'm going to run it without the shroud for now since the stock shroud doesn't fit, but can easily fabricate one at work if needed. Also keep the stock 180 thermostat, that I can change if needed too.

    Apparently people say these fans are trash

      Still works for me and I practically daily drive the truck. Only issue I had was the cap didn’t have a stainless washer in it and there was some rust

    It's a temp sensor not a thermostat.

      Does it matter what you call it? It is called a thermostat on a car, a temp sensor is what you put on the wall of your house. It’s literally a thermostat housing which the thermostat lives in.
