Good point, John Cadogan had a video this week where Mazda knocked back a claim for a cracked piston due to the BT50 owner having a throttle controller fitted.

Oh, we can't do anything because it's an aftermarket bar. Any and all excuse to get out of fixing their own f@#k up.
And that’s the crucial thing anything which maybe connected is now being used outside its design parameters- sure if the screen fails, nothing to do with GVM upgrade- but it’s a fair point to argue the engine will prematurely fail if it has to deal with a 1/3 increase in weight .
Can't upgrade your GCM in WA. It's madness that there are not common national laws. A Qld regoed vehicle can be driving down a Perth street with a legal GCM upgrade whilst a WA regoed vehicle can't get one?

Don’t do a GVM upgrade, Buy a vehicle that will do what you want as standard vehicle ,ooooh and good luck with factory warranty after doing any modifications
Been hearing alot of stories about both manufacturers and after market companies blaming each other and voiding the warranty. Customers stuck in the middle and the paying out of pocket. What happens then?
I find it crazy that pay loads are so low for big 4x4. Put your family in and half of it’s gone. There’s no way you could load up and go on holiday let alone go camping.
Just been talking to a Nissan dealer here in Vic, one of the biggest questions I have whilst looking for a dealer for my new Patrol is exactly what you mentioned "Warranty" Still is a grey area from what I have heard. Anyways onto the GVM Upgrade side. The dealer told me to get the Upgrade after rego which apparently in her words is the new law, and you can’t do them pre rego. do you have any comments on that? Also do you know anything about Luxury car taxes? She also told me not to get the towing pack until the first service because it would incur a Luxury car tax if I was to have it supplied as one of the extras. Crazy rules happening. Thanks for your vids and looking forward to any and all concerning this type of subject.

I think suspension isnt just the fix, brakes should be upgraded as well to match the new gvm upgraded, this hole gvm upgrade push yet no brakes or sensor calibration for new weights on the abs side is also a issue.

Reuben, great video mate and so glad we did the GVM+ after we built and added all the accessories to our 200 series purchased new via VEOP and DMW! Wanting the GCM+ approved now once Qld and DMW can! Cheers mate!
I think the issue here is the GVM upgrade. DMW do the upgrade and that includes a 50mm lift. The diff has an issue. Nissan say “it’s because of the difference in angles of the cv joints”. DMW say “ it’s nothing to do with us, we didn’t touch the CV joints”. The owner pays $5000 for a new diff. We are still getting DMW to do our upgrade.
Hi Michael, often Dealerships themselves (or through affiliated shops) and every aftermarket brand in the industry will offer suspension lifts up to 50mm and wheel and tyre packages. It is common industry standard that on lifts up to 50mm, additional modifications are not required to be made for realignment of CV angles etc. The CV is built to go through a large range of motion inherently and a minor lift like this should not negatively effect that. However lifts higher than 50mm generally tend to require some further changes to make allowance for this e.g. adjustable upper control arms, diff drop kits etc. This is always a contentious point as some dealerships' knee-jerk reaction is "You've changed something on your car so no warranty" even though there are no legal bounds to do that.
Hi Reuben i have a 2022 Ram 1500 Limited with air suspension, are you looking at doing GVM upgrades on these any time in the near future as the payloads in these are ridiculous for something that is supposed to tow 4.5 t 🙄
Q: so when Toyota say, Your trans/engine/turbo ect ect blew up because of the additional weight that it wasn't designed for, who's paying then?
