    Very interesting - you just can't hook up a van and off you go. Leon was very informative and explained everything in layman's terms. Top episode.

    So glad you posted this - I was needing to get our combination weighed and so we gave Leon @safetotow after seeing your vid. He came out to us, and before he’d even left I had the full report in my inbox. He talked us through every step and explained every detail. Money VERY well spent on his advice and the report.

      Hi, he did, although an adjustable hitch is a lot more effective 👍

    Being so close to the max limits on the van and tow ball download and very specific drawbar height required to maintain them you will struggle to stay legal on the road. All well and good to weigh the van with full water tanks and fridge/pantry but they will be emptied in your travels changing the distribution of weight.

    • @JourneyUnknown
      @JourneyUnknown  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey David, Yes, that's why we explained that we will be shuffling things around. This will be shown on our upcoming episode.

    Great episode guys. One question, your rear axle weight! Was that with the van attached? Cause if it wasn't you might have to change what's in the back of your car. I'm looking at the Lovells upgrade as well. Hope you guys have a great trip when you head off. Cheers

    • @JourneyUnknown
      @JourneyUnknown  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Darren, yes, the van is included in the rear axle weights. We have around 270kg of payload on the rear axle and 358kg of payload on the front axle. hitched up. thanks for watching and commenting 👍

    • @ausguy4385
      @ausguy4385 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JourneyUnknownthat'd the issue with loveless the load is BS... as you can't add to the front axel 😂

    Can any one help? With a 4200 kg gvm and gcm suspension upgrade what sort of ride do you get around town with min payload?

    • @JourneyUnknown
      @JourneyUnknown  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey, We have a constant load with our fridge and drawer. Rides perfectly comfortable 👌

  • @Jezza1656
    @Jezza1656 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hi guys enjoying your posts, just wondering about GVM upgrades as I just watched a youtube post AutoExpert John Cadogan. He makes some very disturbing points eg: you can void your manufacturers Warranty if something in the drivetrain or chassis fails as it is now out of manufacturer's specifications. Do you think this is correct?

    • @JourneyUnknown
      @JourneyUnknown  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey Jezza, thanks for watching and commenting. Toyota had approved the installation of the GVM & GCM throughout the RND process. l would find it hard to believe that you would be voiding your warranty, especially when this is common practice throughout many vehicles 🍻

    • @SteveBurns80
      @SteveBurns80 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@JourneyUnknown Wrong! Just because Toyota approves something, does not necessarily mean they will cover something that fails as a direct result of being over your original gvm.
      They will approve anything as long as it's roadworthy, but there's certainly no guarantee it will be covered under warranty. As JC says, these are facts, you don't have to like them. 😂

    • @JourneyUnknown
      @JourneyUnknown  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Steve Toyota will only void warranty if the changes you have made to your vehicle caused the brakedown. Therefore, Lovells has a warranty to correct if your suspension breaks down. Of course, Toyota is not liable. If you have engine trouble, like we have had (injector dpf issues) after our GVM aswell, They will and did fix the issue free of charge. There's plenty of scare mungering in regard to this subject.
      We can only speak of our experience, which is factual.
      Thanks for watching and commenting.

    • @SteveBurns80
      @SteveBurns80 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@JourneyUnknown You guys are so delusional. To help you understand the facts, I'll give an example... If your transmission failed, Toyota have to prove the cause of the failure, if they find a fault that's not related to overloading, then legally, yes they have to cover it under their warranty. BUT, If they find the fault was caused by overloading, then it's on you. Tip, they already know it's overload, because they know you have a GVM upgrade. Like I said, just because the dealer approved it, does not mean Toyota has to cover a warranty claim as a direct result of being over the factory GVM.
      Don't believe me? Try getting in writing from Toyota. No chance! Just something to be aware of. 😉
