It was badly animated, had horrible character designs, mediocre music and really just didn't make sense. It was awful. SHIPPING EVERYWHERE! Jaune X Jessica Cruz! KnightLight! GreenKnight! Weiss X Batman! Yes, this is real! I hate it!

Not only that. That was only Part 1. There is a chance there is going to be more then part 2. When I saw it on Max today I was thinking, why? But I did watch it because I was curious of they wrote the movie and Oh Lord I have mixed feelings about it. Hopefully it does not get weird. But I do enjoy DC and RWBY separate though and I don't know why we have not seen any plans for the DC Malverse to be made into a series or movie. For example there were comics for DC vs Marvel like a Multiverse War. But seeing that they mixed it with RWBY instead tells me that hope might take longer.
@@XiphosFraznoir looking at the promo material with the Rwby cast standing with Superman and Batman somehow could just tell it wasn’t going to be very good. I know they’re both under Warner Bros but JL just doesn’t seem to be a good mix with this kind of show. Crossing RWBY over with something like Kingdom Hearts or Final Fantasy would’ve probably been a better match.

I find it crazy that I got to watch full blown Batman character assassination in 4K. While also getting to watch legitimate good team RWBY character interaction also in 4K. Also a thing I saw on Twitter was that the writer of this film wasn’t even actually credited anywhere and that the person who wrote it was someone from DC. Whether this is true or not I don’t know. But I’m guessing that the dc writer(s) essentially did the whole “write what is supposed to be a rough draft of the plot” and then hand it to the rwby writers to try to make something of it and they did what they could. That’s just my guess though.
Yeah, his character just felt off from the voice to the personality. Too much like an average teenage boy. I didn't hate Weiss being interested in him though. I've always felt like it should have been Weiss and Blake instead of Yang and Blake, or that just the idea of Weiss with a faunus would have been interesting.
@@SailorRemnant Wrt Monochrome, yeah it totally had more like, story potential than bumbleby in some ways, though a lot of it would only materialise if the white fang we're handled better too imo.
That being said, I've had 8 years of bumbleby in my life at this point. I adore them and I can't really bring myself to say they were a bad idea, seeing how well they work aesthetically and emotionally in the show. And there are good story beats that wouldn't have been the same with Monochrome, like the interaction between Yang's abandonment issues and Blake's tendency to run from her problems.

I feel like Teen Titans would've made more sense in writing and branding. Teen Titans Go is CN popular show, and a successful theatrical film, successful straight to dvd film with the original cartoon Titans and the ones that been watching go maybe now old enough to watch the crossover out of interest. And may bring the ones that watch the live action show to watch it out curiosity. Also, this avoids making the leaguers into awkward teens like they could've made Jessica a oc green lantern corp member and dc fans would be okay to not even care.

But we already seen Cyborg and I Don't think Superboy and Kid Flash looking better than their predecessors (like how the hell they made Barry look like Sun Wukong cosplaying Impulse). But I think transporting them to Remenat would be fine and easy.
@@kamikazebadger5727 I think they should just use the original 5. I think it would translate well. Raven could go two ways. Give her glyphs and have weiss teach her which gives an interesting dynmaic between the two or have her magic be connected to god of darkness. Starfire's starbolts are amped by sunlight but she can't fly. beast boy is connected to the animal god of rwby which allows him to transform into any animal at will. cyborg would better fit the ability of superhuman intelligence which allows him to be able to hack anything with his robot parts and build any machine he desires. Robin would suit reflexes but that already goes to maria so id tweak it to precognition or intuition.

You know, we could have had a "Mortal Kombat X Justice League" film, which would have been the most action packed cartoon of ALL TIME. But Warner Bros said "no."
So not only does this film exist. BUT NOW THEY HAVE DEPRIVED EVERYONE OF KOMBAT.
I know a lot out there will vehemently disagree, but sometimes there's way more fun to be had in non-stop fighting than a super deep story. Because if it's trying too hard to be deep, it comes off more as forced, boring and alienating to some.
As a deranged RWBY fan, I can give you some insight into some of the fan response you have seen online.
Basically everyone is not happy this crossover happened (except for some especially deranged fans) with the additional knowledge that Volumes 7-9 suffered due to shared resources and possibly shared budget (although I'm not 100% on that last part.) There are parts of the movie that people liked, me included, but overall we would have wanted a more expanded main series over this.
The phenomenon you are witnessing on Twitter and elsewhere is the realization that Volume 9 might be it for RWBY. Listening to several of the animators, writers, and showrunners, there is currently zero work being done on a future Volume and essentially CRWBY has to negotiate with Crunchyroll to get Volume 10 made. Which I don't completely understand; does CR own the RWBY IP now or does WB?
Either way, RWBY diehards are losing their minds. So in an effort to show how much they love everything RWBY, they are trying to get everyone they can to buy RWBY media including the JLxRWBY movie to show our corporate overloads that continuing the main series is worth it. How does buying a WB-made movie influence negotiations with Crunchroll? Beats me! But the online fans took the parts that they liked from the movie and ran with it. At least for a bit; most of them are back to talking about the main series and ship wars.
The most confusing part is this movie has zero value for DC fans. Various DC subreddits with threads about this movie had responses from utterly confused DC fans. RWBY is clearly the smaller franchise but somehow you needed more background in that series to understand the movie.
TLDR: *So to go back to your original question of who this movie was made for? Apparently desperate RWBY fans that want future Volumes.*

As a person that just watches reviews from Busham0 with no DC or RWBY attachment or much knowledge- I’m not sure how this crossover would have appealed to me unless it offered action scenes - but man I didn’t know RWBY fandom was going through it 😅

@Busham0 It was also made for desperate showrunners that wanted to remain part of the DC umbrella, and the execs that try to justify their existence.
I believe CRWBY publicly admitted last year that V9's delay was due in part to work being done on the DC movie.
That term "Delay" likely translates to the diversion of funds, resources and production time.
I am thinking they went with RWBY-fied versions of the Justice league for two reasons.
One, name recognition. They wanted the big names associated with this cross over. Hoping it would generate interest. Teen Titans or Young Justice characters just wouldn't cut it. Even they would have been a much better fit. The notoriety just wasn't there.
Second reason, the JL characters are so different in look and personality, real DC fans would see no interest in this. Thus protecting the brand from any damage incurred by association with RWBY. Any DC fan who ventured to see this movie would mentally compartmentalize it as Earth 30,722 or something. Anything but a real representation in the DC universe.
I would be curious to know, of the total viewers of this movie, what percentage was RWBY fans, and what percentage were DC fans who knew little if anything about RWBY.

Boy, this is a fine example of why 'brand synergy' is something you can't just slap around, you can't mandate it. You can ask if there are ideas, but you just can't demand it if you want good results. Compare this to the Blazblue crossover work and you immediately sense the difference.
Edit: It blows my mind they didn't roll with Batman not even having an awakened aura to start, and concluding it's just a tool like any other. My god people this is not fething _hard_ .
There’s a lot the movie fucks up like the animation, designs, music etc. But writing-wise I think it hits most of the RWBY essentials
* Only letting love interests interact with each other
* Giving more development/depth/focus to Jaune than half of the main team
* The main team being split up half the time
* Some characters having arcs that come out of nowhere and disappear just as quickly (looking at you batman)
* Questionable power scaling
* inconsistent characterization
* The villains plan making no sense
* Forced hostility and group tension
* Having a cast large enough that some of them just don’t really get much to do (you’d be forgiven for forgetting vixen is in this movie)
* Silver eyes not being useful
* Etc.
Though it DOES forget to repeatedly handle a serious issue (like racism and suicide) with all the tact and subtlety of a bull in a China shop
*Trotting out dead characters for an emotional cheap shot

Lol, As for the writers handling serious topics in this show, The comparison I like to go with is 'all the subtlety of a Tank trying to parallel park.'
But Bull in a China shop is just as effective.
I would offer a few extra RWBY essentials, particularly evident in the last 3 volumes. Which is the highlighting of progressive and SJW themes.
- Certain kinds of characters will always be irredeemable bad guys and are likely to be killed.
- Certain kinds of characters can never be considered bad or evil, even if they're actions are sub-grey area. They are even looked upon favorably by the "heroes".
- There is a select group of character, that if evil or bad, can be flipped, forgiven, and redeemed without any consideration of their past crimes. They will enjoy main-character level plot armor.
- When there is no way to logically or realistically way to depict or show the journey from point A to point B, just skip it. 'they were there, now they are here'. Just live with it.
- A subtle anti-gun messaging has been introduced into the writing in recent volumes. Heroes rarely if ever are shown on-screen using the gun function of their weapons now. And certainly not firing at other characters, even of they are bad. (This does not apply to fantasy projectiles like Ice or fire.) Actually Gun play is left up to the "bad guys" to engage in.
The result of all these points we brought up is that it impacts the writing woefully. Handicapping it as it tries to remain PC in all it's depictions. Not daring to step outside the lines.
It makes the show very predictable.
As someone who grew up loving the Justice League and DC Comics, and later followed RWBY happily until I think Season 6 or 7:

To amplify someone else’s comment, RWBY and Teen Titans would’ve made 1000X more sense. You’d get:
- Robin teaching Ruby how to be a better leader
- Cyborg and Beast Boy along with Yang being the loud friends
- Raven and Blake being the introverts and anti - socials
- Starfire and Weiss being siblings

To me the most offensive, hell downright horrible part of this movies existance is not just that it took production resources from v9. IT'S THAT WE GOT A TRAILER FOR THIS INSTEAD OF A POST CREDIT SCENE IN V9.
There I am, vibing to Caseys latest masterpiece and contemplating the plot so far, when suddenly the god damn trailer starts blasting full volume, instead of the last scene I was expecting! wtf RoosterTeeth, where my forshadowing for next volumes? It's almost like you're not sure there will BE any next ones... In whitch case you now have ruined the last minutes of the last episode to ever be made with a trailer for this shit show.
Yes, I think we got Justice League X RWBY instead of more volume 9 because of WBs bad management choices. Now volume 10 is on hold because 9 did not meet expectations and the RWBY team has been disbursed all for corporate greed. It makes me kind of sad.
A part of me can't help but wonder how CRWBY have not been fired and replaced with better people yet.

I mean RWBY took things from BlazBlue, Soul Eater, and many more...but do you ACTUALLY want them to crossover with RWBY? Because most of the stuff I mentioned they had to be extremely nerfed to RWBY level. Also they had to change their abilities to match RWBY stuff which depowers them a lot.
Plus fighting fate thing was done in Fate/Stay Night with Shirou and Archer Emiya better.

This movie only highlights the many issues I have with the RWBY show and the characters. I didn't like how the Justice League were treated in this version. Yeah, I get that they're teenagers so that everyone is more within actual age (even though mentally they are not), but to see DC characters be treated like kids really got under my skin. Even the RWBY characters are more annoying.
The big issue that the show proves is very accurate is how Team RWBY has no respect for any kind of authority. Granted, the examples of leadership in their world are terrible, but that's because the writers purposedly take the very people would know better and have far more experience than a couple of teens do and make them out to be incompetent and stupid. The big example of this is when Superman is taking charge and laying out a plan, which Ruby and Nora rebuff, telling him to not tell them what to do. Even though it was a reasonable plan and was doing what no one else was in that moment.
But another is how Wonder Woman is treated. She goes on about how the other heroes don't understand what it means to be trained since birth for a bigger destiny, even though her mother and people never intended for her to leave the paradise island in the first place. I do like that Wonder Woman has a special connection to the characters of RWBY, as they all were trained to be warriors at an early age, but to take it and make it all about "Oh, they don't understand what it's like to be raised that way" is just insulting. Not just for her but for the other members of her team.
Batman lost his parents as a kid and spent the next couple of decades training and dedicating his life to protect his city, despite having no powers. Superman, among the last of his kind, grew up among humanity as an outcast, but used his power to bring hope to others. Cyborg, once a promising football player, was forced to become something else over the course of a single night and lost almost everything. The Flash lost his mother, and his father was sent to prison for her death, when he was a kid.
Wonder Woman would never compare her life like that to the rest and make it seem like they had it easy, knowing that they've all had their fair share of struggles and hardships. The only member of the Justice League who was done well in this movie was Jessica Cruz, aka Green Lantern. I like her story-arc and resolution by the end. And while I didn't like them bringing back Jaune's grief over Pyrrah's death, it did serve a purpose and was probably the most emotional part of the entire movie.
The film was very frustrating to watch, as it carries over a lot of the problems I have with RWBY. And it doesn't help with the Part 2 that's coming out soon. I'm hoping that the writing and treatment of the Justice League will be better this time around (highly doubt it). This film at least has the excuse that everyone was a teenager and most likely were acting out on hormones (which only proves my point on RWBY), but the next one is supposed to have the heroes as full grown-ups and in their prime as heroes.
Bruce would also never even entertain the thought of abandoning Gotham for some reality he has no stake in just because he had powers in it.

2. Voice acting was weird and didnt match the characters personalities
3. Some scenes were EXTREMELY LONG, no adventurous feeling to it. Felt like the animators half assed it to get it over with . Which made the movie overall boring

And team rwby versus the Aesop's was cool,but want that good, I think maybe the fight between Penny and cynder tomatoes was good but fight where it was Winter Penny and cynder fighting was also good and I'll also say maybe the fight with hazel and Salem was good from volume a&a bit of the fighting was actually better in the volume eight final fight with seniority Ruby and Penny in winter but the fighting we got in this movie reminded me of the same fighting we have gotten over these past volumes hell the fights on volume five or better than ones in this movie
I actually talked to a TH-camr who reviews like Batman and DC comics he reviewed this movie and he said as a DC fan coming into this movie he was confused by everything going on I've also seen other DC fans confused I think I'm one of maybe the only few that I at least know of that I've talked to hear and on Twitter who are both Ruby and DC comics fans so I knew all of the characters but there are a lot of people who just didn't really know these characters and there are a lot of DC fans who were really confused
And even the DC fans were asking why we got thismovie was made I don't know if Warner Brothers looked back and thought that those Ruby Justice League comics did good but they didn't if they looked at reviews for it people were dragging these comments are remember I got to read these comics for free cuz I swear I either saw them at the store or I read them online on a comic side or some s*** and it sucks so bad and there was only like one good part of the comics at the end where this or was this panel of phyrra trying to punch Ruby and it had like a good post to it and I saw some people using that as

And when it comes to the Ruby characters and how they were acting is I don't know why they had Ruby acting like a twelve-year-old cuz even in the main series in volume 1-3 Ruby was childish but she still knew how to act like a leader they had Ruby acting like she never let anybody a day in her life or was really unsure of herself which sure Ruby's been unsure of herself but when it comes to her fighting skills and how to leave she's always been confident in that evenin volume nine when she was having doubts about herself you can still see a bit of her confidence there when she finally got to fight with her team again this was some BS somebody made up or I'm going to be honest with you

The Weiss/Batman ship (White Bat? Black Snow?) and seeing Ren jealous about Nora were probably the only things about it that I kind of liked. Overall it just felt too chaotic and slow, they should have just given us the whole movie at once (which probably still won't be much better). I'll watch the secod half just because I don't like leaving things unfinished either and I'm desperate for more RWBY content, but this wasn't good.

Here are some things i think might have made it better.
One don't make the dc characters like rwby make them like themselves, also hal jordan or jhon steward.
Two have a least a dc villian or two. General Zod and Slade for example.
Three if they wanted teenage dc characters , Young Justice and teen titan characters exists!
I am not a rwby fan so this movie does not work for me, if the steps above were used mabie i would be interested.

I wanted to like this on my first viewing, and I did.
I was more analytical on my second, and wound up with a laundry list of things that had me wondering “why?”
Though I guess “why?” is a good question for this thing’s whole existence, but what I find is that there’s traces of cool ideas that are slathered in a thick goop of peculiarity.
Like I honestly find Jaune and Jess’s arc (though I have no idea if it’s at all fitting the latter’s character) to be kinda nice, if basic, but only when ya peel away the five layers of weird around it.
But the thing is, you can’t just act like those five layers of weird aren’t there. You can’t pretend that this thing isn’t a squirrel brained fever dream painted onto a canvas that weirdly seems to resemble Sword Art Online.
And I still think this movie is fun in a really weird sorta way, but I can’t call it good by any measure. Honestly part of me wants to break this thing all the way down, pick out the 10% I truly liked, and grow something actually sensical around that.
Would probably end up making basically a Hot Topic Harry Potter taking place in a CoD Zombies set up, but like at least it would be a more consolidated fever dream. Lol

I wanted to like this. I *REALLY* wanted to like this. I was all on board for this movie to just be Rooster Teeth’s writing getting roasted and having the far more experienced and tight-knit JL just walk through the Grimm and easily solve just about every problem that came up in the movie, because that actually sounded entertaining. But nope, the whole movie is just the JL and RWBY being horribly written characters. Also, villain’s method was dumb. Turn the JL into teenagers so their “hormones and insecurities destroy them”? Yeah, that’ll work well against the JL, who still have their adult minds, mentalities, and memories. I only watched this because I happen to like DC. I hoped watching it would light a flame that would inspire me to rewatch RWBY, but nope. Only inspired me to stay away.

What this game have than the show it's consistent they set the difference between semblance and magic how Sembalance is someone's personal ability, magic is more flexible and varied and anyone with the disposition to use it can even without Aura
