Zinnias are popular garden flowers due to their wide range of flower colors and shapes. They grow in fertile, full sun, humus-rich, and well-drained soil. The flowers can withstand hot summer temperatures. The plant reseeds themselves each year.

    What an excellent idea--use cuttings.

How many weeks after you planted the cuttings did you plant them in the big pots?

Hi Kathy, I can't remember but it was within 2 weeks? Mint and Zinnias are one of the fastest for me. But if you use clear cups you can see the roots, so when the roots are going to the bottom of the cup and the leaves are getting larger I move them. Thanks for watching

They are one of my favorites and the perfect flower for a beginner or for an experienced gardener.
I have a new video on an easier and faster growing zinnia. Thanks for watching, Sabrina

Hi Sabrina. How long does it take for the zinnia cutting to root? Does the rooting hormone make any difference when it comes to the rooting process of this kind? I heard somewhere from someone that they have very little faith in such powder available for sale on the market and never will they assume that this speeds up the rooting of the cutting. Truly, with these scandals around I'm absolutely in need of genuine experiences, wondering if you don't mind sharing yours.

This is a great question. I swear by it, although many gardeners drop the extra cost since with Zinnias for they still a good percentage of successful rootings and quite honestly an "in or out" thing.
But let me tell you why I use it-I go for the scientific information. All plants have an indole acetic acid, which is necessary for it to root. All the rooting hormone does is gives it a "push" to do its job. (taking vitamin C when your sick, but a supplement gives an extra immune boost-hope this was a good example) So for me why not give that extra chance? The cost is pennies at most. On the road though, I have used honey. This helps with germs on the cut.
But Zinnias are so easy to root. I have some growing now so I can show them on my channel. I will show both ways on rooting in a month.
Thanks for watching and the question. Sabrina

Thanks, Sabrina. How informative that is for me as a gardener who always love others to pool related gardening knowledge with others having the same interest in growing flowers. Judging from what you've claimed, I believe, conceivably from meticulous scientific study which takes long as well, I think the hormone gives you enough positive energy to carry on with 'stubborn' plants, for instance, roses in rooting their cuttings. Indeed, waiting for a cutting of any flower plant to take roots demands patience, so zinnias for beginners like this would be ideal as their rooting is possibly more rapid than others. I'll be waiting for other clips you post, one of which, if any, draws a clear distinction between your experiments with and without rooting hormone use. Mind you. For this, some producers may not like any comparison we make haha, but who cares? Gardening can do us a lot of good only if we make new discovery on our own.

Very helpful video, thanks for sharing your tips on using cuttings. I'm currently focusing on increasing zinnias in my tropical garden here in Malaysia this year... Zinnias really are amazing flowers.

Glad you like it. Zinnia and Dahlias would work for you, I really love them. I have started both from seed, them took cuttings when they get taller. This makes the young flower bush out for the season, then I take more cuttings for fall. Sabrina
