    I tried pinching my lonely zinnia but I ended up only cutting the leaves then it started to flower and branch so I left it alone. After seeing this video I went out to pinch it and put the cut piece in water. Fingers crossed I'll end up with 2 healthy plants

  • @Stringz
    @Stringz 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    What makes a zinnia grow to a big ball full of petals versus just a bit with the yellow in the middle? On the seeds I planted they were big ball types but during bloom it’s been the latter type I said.
    Also can I make a cutting from any of this now? There’s a second arm growing with a bud in it, can I use that?

    For those that find they lose their propagated plants, even when they have a new healthy root system:
    I tend to lose mine too, and it’s because the roots are so used to having access to ample moisture, and soil is damp, not drenched. So I take an extra step between propagating a new root system and planting them. Instead I’ll put them in a super small pot (like 3”), put that pot into a square size ziplock, then plant the propagated stem into the soil, water it enough that it collects a bit of extra water at the bottom, then spray water on the leaves, and close the ziplock bag. I’ll keep it like this for about 3 days, then open the ziplock for a day so the leaves are used to being dry again, and then plant it the following day. I find I lose propagated plants so much less with this method!!
