That final ending definitely leaves the door open for a potential sequel in the future. Which I would love, even though I haven’t finished it yet, Sekiro has been one of the most enjoyable games I’ve played in years. Seriously hope this turns into another series like Dark Souls, and we get a continuation of this story at some point.
There might be another Sekiro game yes but I doubt it will continue where any of these endings left off, none of the Dark Souls games did, just so you as a player can decide which ending is the best for you and the story, continuing a sequel from one of these endings just weaknes the heaviness of all the other endings.
Maurice Garcia To be honest, I would expect that the sequel to Sekiro would be a prequel. Since it is set at the end of the Sengoku period, the time following it would be the Edo period. The Edo period lasted up to the modernisation of Japan and was relatively peaceful. I suppose an interesting story could be the clash between the supporters of modernisation versus those of traditional shogunate. Though I think they would set it earlier. I haven’t played any of the Dark Souls, but it is my understanding that they do not really flow into each other, the events are all quite distant between games.
I get the Alt ending on my first playthrough, it actually really sad seeing him have to killed his own lord and then end up just sitting there in the shrine sculpting buddha just like Sekijo, It's a very Dark soul ending and I loved it.
I don't feel that it's a "good" ending. It reminds me of another game's bad ending. He seems filled with regret knowing he didn't find a way to save Kuro. It also probably means that he will turn into the demon of rage at some point.
True its a cyclical ending where you are only one part of a never ending process. Its actually more closely similar to a bloodborne ending. Won't spoil exactly what happens if you haven't played it yet.
Yeah I loved it the most, bittersweet endings are always my favorite. I just love how the whole thing came full circle, how we are now the one armed sculptor, ready to help out other shinobi who are just like we once were and give them a safe place
All of the endings made me really emotional when I got them. But the true ending gave me something this entire game never gave me, but actively snatched from me everytime. And that’s Hope.
You can tell how Kuro feels about every ending as shown with his facial expression after he drinks the dragon tears. In the immortal severance (12:45), where Kuro dies, he's expression is neutral. In the Purification ending (15:30), he's perturbed and saddened, because Wolf dies. In the Return Ending (18:53), he's smiling. It really hints what kind of ending each of them are; if they're good, normal, or bad.
It would have been nice and I was expecting it but to be fair he was already holding a mortal blade....in spite of it not looking the same as when Genichiro wields it the black pouring off the blade shows that it was the black mortal blade. Meaning the insane berserker immortal is now wielding the only two things capable of killing him.
Now hold up. In that True ending, is it just me or is Kuro not dead but straight up reborn in another womb? Holy shit that would help sever immortality without killing either of them, since the child Kuro would hold the DNA of a woman who doesn't have the dragon heritage.
That's a pretty interesting though the theory I had in mind was different. It feels like the purpose of putting kuro in the "cradle" was to prevent people from getting corrupted by dragon's heritage blood. If you follow the walk-through for the True ending, the scriptures says that the dragon's heritage came far from the west and somehow came into Japan out of sheer coincidence. Since it did not belong there, people became corrupted by its power. Finally, it seems like kuro is staying in the heart of the divine child instead of the womb. That's why they are going on a journey to return the dragon's heritage to its origins where its power will not corrupt people nor will anyone die because of it. We might get sekiro 2 from where this ending left off.
@@kaizerevo well so why did sekiro kill himself in the alt good ending? Why not he just take sekiro alive to the west ? Why must in "cradle" ? So in my opinion kuro can't live in the same body (someone must condemn him) so the only option for both of them to stay alive was to reborn kuro in different body and that was the true ending
@@UnsungQuartet geez read my comment once again , i didn't say it's same ending what did i point was kuro can't live in the same body cause the "immortality serve"

The battle with Isshin be like: "...in the end I was powerless but the First Hunter was not." "The Old Blood surging through my veins." "With this, the wait for Bloodborne 2 comes to an end." "Which means, Dex weeb..." "I must destroy you."
Seeing wolf sacrifice himself and turn into all the petals touched my heart, but seeing his gravestone and his katana is what really got me. Wolf was truly a hero.
They eventually encountered a band of strange people, one of them being an insanely powerful Immortal monkey, another being an often underutilized and forgotten Dragon horse, another being a shithead pig man who I promise you will hate, a water demon, and a buddhist monk who couldn't pick up a sharp twig to save his own skin, cause he says killing is wrong, however in Japan the monks there decided that they wanted to be all badasses
@@pyrrhusofepirus8491 As cool as this would be, (Sun Wukong would make for an epic boss) it'd be historically impossible since Xuanzang's Journey To The West took place during the 7th Century AD (627-645) & Sekiro is set during the Sengoku period, which occurred between the 15th & 16th Centuries (c.1467-1600).

Finally beat this game and got the 'good ending' / Immortal Severance. Absolutely incredible game as has become standard for From Software. Isshin the Sword Saint is one of the most challenging bosses I've faced in any game ever.
Consider it like a ceremony, or just call the blade like the sword of rebirth, grandpops ishin gets reborn from his grandchild and in the alt good ending, sekiro does the same and kuro is reborn through him.
the black mortal blade is called the open gate, which requires dragon blood and a sacrifice to open a portal to the underworld for one to return. It seems like isshin and genichiro had planned for this lmao, you find this item description from the black scroll which is right next to isshin, and then he says this was genichiro's wish when he's summoned.
It's Korea I think. Because divine dragon's sword is Korean and he has 4 claws. Which Korean dragons tend to have. Chinese have 5, koreans have 4 and Japanese have 3
No way... I was holding out for an ending where sekiro gets an ending with Emma and live a life together after severing immortality... Seeing Emma get stabbed in shura ending hurts...
@@jakeadams767 a bit confused, but the Shura she saw wasn't sekiro. Isshin killed a Shura in his lifetime (or should I say cut his hand) and that's what she remembers.
U know what wouldve been interesting, if each ending gave u a different sword, like when u killed ur father u take his sword into new game plus with the enemies being even more aggressive, you know to really show what ur actions have done to YOU in the long term, and it be somthing different in each ending
Saddest “good” ending ive seen in years, you just get so attached to everyone and the only thing that doesnt change is emma, heartbreaking, but at least they hella hinted at a sekiro 2
There are 4 endings in Sekiro Shadows Die Twice : Shura ending >> Follow master/father rule by killing Emma, Isshin and his master/father. Sekiro became shura Immortal Severance ending >> Give Kuro Dragon's Tears and kill Kuro after that. Sekiro became Sculptor and all be square one again. Purification ending >> Give Kuro Dragon's Tears and Everblossom. Then kill himself forsake of Kuro. Dragon's Homecoming ending >> Give Kuro Dragon's Tears and Frozen Tears. Sekiro take Kuro back home and nun take Kuro and be one with her as Sekiro join her in jouney to west where is Devine Dragon birthplace.
The first ending that I got was Shura ending aka Bad ending. Even though the best way for Sekiro would be to not side with anyone and to talk it out more, I feel if I had to side with anyone, it would be my father that taught me everything including the Iron Code that I should follow and also saved me after war. The most fucked up thing here is that you end up killing your father after siding with him and this is why I hate this ending. I would've liked it a lot more if you two just stayed together and plot continued somehow. This decision should be a big deal and I feel that we should've had more snippets of Owl helping Sekiro with e.g. teaching him Mikiri counter etc. Feels like people just agree that siding with Owl is "bad" and I think Owl had his own reasons why he did what he did and it needed to be explained better. Loved the game though, just sharing what I think!
@@charyan2878wolf was already a bloodthirsty killer at that point.......killing everyone in ashina Just for the sake of iron code...........that Dialogue option was just a Turning point.......we didn't know how wolf felt on the inside cauz he ain't too talkative or expressive .......thats why its hard to predict whose side he'll choose..........It is up to the player to decide what wolf really Wants giving you the feeling That you r not playing as wolf you r the wolf.........the type of person you r is the type of person he becomes .......
Fun fact: I believe the alt good ending is the true ending, according to FromSoftware. I bought the official Sekiro soundtrack, and it also includes tracks of dialogue from pivotal moments in the game. When it comes to the ending, the dialogue that was chosen on the soundtrack is the same dialogue where Sekiro kills himself. That being said, if they don't make a sequel to this game I hope they at least make a prequel. Seeing Sekiro's life leading up to him becoming Kuro's Shinobi would be pretty cool imo.
If anyone was wondering Shura 修羅 or Ashura 阿修羅 is a Japanese way to call the Buddhism demigod of war Asura. In Japanese, sometimes used to describe a person who fell into a situation in which they have to fight an endless war against something, in a relentless and inhumane manner.
Although the alt ending is the most realistic and in-line with sekiro's character progression throughout the story I will not except any of them dying! So I'm glad there's a true ending.
So of there will be a sekiro 2: Bad ending: wolf would probably be an enemy and we would get a new protag. Good ending: wolf would probably just be the new sculptor and we would get a new protag. (or maybe something crazy happens and he decides return) Alt. Good ending (my fav. XD): since kuro doesn‘t seem to have any intresting powers he probably won’t be the protag (because of gameplay) but maybe we’d play in new land with kuro as ruler or maybe he decides to rebuild and/or fuse ashina and/or hirata. True ending: pretty obvious we would probably visit a country to the west (probably china since I‘m not sure if dragons are relevant in many other placed) but who knows maybe we‘d play as the devine child and\or wolf since i can see her having or getting some interesting powers and a journey like that might take a while do maybe she‘d be more grown up by then Who knows....
Am I the only one who thought the "alt good ending" was the perfect one? The wolf finished all his duty, died with his sins and burden in that beautiful scene, let his spirit consumed by Kuro and bring it on. After all this one suits my taste best.
only problem the dragon heritage continues, i guess, u just made Kuro mortal like the last lord, he did the same thing but the heritage continued with Kuro. if killing the immortals and lifting the curse was the way to deal with it i would agree, but it seems u just delaying the inevitable like that. The true end u stay by Kuro side still (it seen his soul is with the girl) and u will go into a journey to put the curse were it belong or to lift it all together and make Kuro reincarnate as human. (probably, just just guessing here, the true end made me see it like that)
Just finished the game and got the Shura ending... Not gonna lie, wasn't expecting that. I like it thought, apart from the fact that Sekiro got mad I liked the idea of not following anymore masters
I just completed with the Dragon's Homecoming ending, and I want a sequel about this ending and all the endings soooooooooo badly. Also, it was too emotional, and I'm gonna do the other endings, btw very good video, keep up the good work.
The Lucksman well with the 4th ending, or the “true ending” Kuro does live, but he’s just reborn as a baby. Same kid, just got turned into a fuckin fetus through magic
There really isn’t a true ending to this game and it’s really left to interpretation. To me, the Purification ending is the true ending because Wolf overcomes his father and sacrifices himself for his master’s wishes. And it’s also the hardest ending to get. Dragon’s Homecoming is definitely the trickiest ending to get but Purification is the hardest because you have to fight Owl Father who, in my opinion, is the hardest boss in the game
Best ending is when kuro died. The lust for power mustnt go on for the sake of this world. He knew that. Such a sweet and mature child. Im proud of him. My son y.y
It was explained by the Divine Child that both Kuro and Sekiro really has no idea how immortality in their world works and are just speculating on how to stop its corruption.. Even if either of them died, the Dragon Heritage will pass on to a random person and start the cycle over again. Just like how Takeru and Tomoe failed to stop the immortal cycle, then comes Kuro as the next Heir.. The Divine Child further explained that the only way to stop it, is to return the Dragon Heritage to the west. So yeah the Dragon Return is the true ending, since Kuro, Sekiro, Divine Child and even Emma aims to stop the immortality corruption on men, and that's the only way to truly prevent it spreading throughout their land. It was also written by a hundred year old immortal monk from Senpou Temple which probably gained so much knowledge until it was found dead. All of main characters survived in that ending too.

Underrated comment, i would never have noticed if not for you. This adds so much to each ending, I love it.
In the bad ending wolf should’ve glanced at kuro and then unsheathe the mortal blade.
To do that, he'd have to hold one blade in his mouth

So of there will be a sekiro 2:
Bad ending: wolf would probably be an enemy and we would get a new protag.
Good ending: wolf would probably just be the new sculptor and we would get a new protag. (or maybe something crazy happens and he decides return)
Alt. Good ending (my fav. XD): since kuro doesn‘t seem to have any intresting powers he probably won’t be the protag (because of gameplay) but maybe we’d play in new land with kuro as ruler or maybe he decides to rebuild and/or fuse ashina and/or hirata.
True ending: pretty obvious we would probably visit a country to the west (probably china since I‘m not sure if dragons are relevant in many other placed) but who knows maybe we‘d play as the devine child and\or wolf since i can see her having or getting some interesting powers and a journey like that might take a while do maybe she‘d be more grown up by then
Who knows....
If the bad ending was that Emma will say *Ara* *Ara* I'm sure many players will chose that ending....No doubt
Am I the only one who thought the "alt good ending" was the perfect one? The wolf finished all his duty, died with his sins and burden in that beautiful scene, let his spirit consumed by Kuro and bring it on. After all this one suits my taste best.

The true end u stay by Kuro side still (it seen his soul is with the girl) and u will go into a journey to put the curse were it belong or to lift it all together and make Kuro reincarnate as human. (probably, just just guessing here, the true end made me see it like that)

Dragon's Homecoming ending is good one and I think DLC it will be based on this ending. I would like to see a movie based on this game :)
Give it time im sure people will do an all cutscenes video
There really isn’t a true ending to this game and it’s really left to interpretation. To me, the Purification ending is the true ending because Wolf overcomes his father and sacrifices himself for his master’s wishes. And it’s also the hardest ending to get. Dragon’s Homecoming is definitely the trickiest ending to get but Purification is the hardest because you have to fight Owl Father who, in my opinion, is the hardest boss in the game
Owl imo is the easiest boss in this game
I don’t like Kuro so there’s no way in hell I’m dying for him lol

"I'll hold you in my hear" what is this Kingdom Hearts 1?
I like how the 'true' ending is the only one that fades to white at the end instead of black, its a nice touch
