On the shura ending, the owl actually puts down the severed head of genichiro, hence why he was missing the entire fight.

Despite what the captions say, the order of the endings seem like: Bad, good, true, and secret. Going shura is obvs bad (plus everyone and thousands more die), the good ending isn’t great but you did what you were told but the cycle seems like it’ll repeat since Sekiro became the sculptor (Hence the first sculptor was the original owner of the prosthetic arm). True ending, sekiro sacrifices himself and saves Kuro (plus you had an additional item to give Kuro). And the secret is always some plot twist/cliff-hanger/possible sneak peek to another game or DLC story. Hope this helps anyone who is confused
More like worst/bad/good/true. Because:
Any story that has the main character turning into a demon is surely a horrible ending. Especially if you have to kill the only waifu in the game.
Sekiro killed Kuro because he was ordered to. That’s a lack of his personal will. Which make him no different than a tool. I can’t see anything that can be called “good” about that.
In the 3rd, Kuro lived and every “immortal” was slain. That’s ideal in such a mess up world.
But in the 4th, Sekiro saw that the journey isn’t ending there. And as opposed to the previous three where the players chose to walk the easy path. If there are gonna be a sequel, I believe they will pick this as the “canon” ending.

Thanks, can't believe it's so hard to write your title correctly so that the endings are in order. But I'd prefer if the true ending was the last one (I always prefer when my character is alive at the end when it's possible)

In my personal opinion, the last ending "to the west" is the actual true ending. The very reason why Kuro started to seek severing his immortality is because he saw the consequences aka corruptions it brought to people. It doesn't make any sense to kill him given there are so many other forms of immortality existing even just in the small nation of Ashina. If his goal is to end immortality in general, shouldn't he seek to sever the source of his power? Going back the birthplace of the "Dragon's heritage" is the only plausible move in this sense.

@@xprm2k9 It's likely that both Robert and his dad are dead. We kicked his dad off a bridge and down into the sunken valley and Robert is very likely one of the children who perished in Senpou Temple.
The Divine Child says the Dragon's Heritage is not natural for Japan. The Divine Dragon and the Everblossom (I think they're actually the selfsame entity, but I'm not sure.) wandered from its home in the West and found Ashina, where the soil and water is ancient and nourishing enough for the Divine Dragon to take root, and thus starting all the Immortality shit. The Divine Child seeks to return the Dragon's Heritage to the West because that's where it naturally belongs, and *probably* won't cause stagnation there.
Yeah, but One Mind is really cool, so...
Sekiro 2: The Asian God of war.
From these endings, this is how I interpret:
Shura ending:
Sekiro obeyed the Iron Code of Shinobi instead of breaking it to have loyalty for Kuro. The Owl told him to forsake Kuro as a master, and his goal is to take over the country for himself. He sees Ashina and Interior Minister as the obstacles. The Owl got stabbed in the back by Sekiro (which is similar to Sekiro getting stabbed in the back in the burning temple scene after Lady Butterfly's boss fight). Sekiro has become a power-driven person becoming a demon known as Shura by endlessly fighting. This is obviously bad because thousands of people died in Ashina when Sekiro becomes a demon.
Immortal Severance ending:
Sekiro gives the Divine Dragon's Tears. Kuro has always thought that the Dragon's Heritage is not for anyone to bear because it has corrupted the lives of people seeking immortality. The young prince bears that burden, and he wants Sekiro to end this cycle. Sekiro hesitates to kill Kuro, but he has no choice when Kuro asked him to sever the ties of immortality. Only the Mortal Blade can make this possible. The next scene shows the Wolf becoming a new sculptor (the previous sculptor probably died). From the looks of it, he seems emotionless while blankly carving the idols. Knowing that the prosthetic arm is not equipped when Emma said of a new Shinobi, this shows some kind of a cycle repeating itself. This is a sad ending where the Wolf is ordered by his master without making a personal will to show compassion.
Purification ending:
Here, Sekiro shows absolute loyalty to his lord. He pulls out the Mortal Blade when the Divine Heir is not conscious of his actions. The reason why he kills himself is to end the the last immortal, which is the Wolf. He sacrifices himself for Kuro to live a life of what it means to be human. We see Sekiro's grave with his Kusabimaru, and Kuro departing on his journey. It is unknown where he is going. This is a good ending because the Wolf took his life for the good of his master to embrace the meaning of humanity.
Return ending:
This is the ending where Sekiro and Kuro do not die. The Divine Child (the nun) holds Kuro in her heart. I don't know what she does to him by doing that. After some times, it appears that she has a journey ahead and Sekiro's path does not end there. She seeks to go to the birthplace of the Divine Dragon to the west. Sekiro walks alongside with her because he knows that his master still lives in her and he has sworn an absolute oath to protect him. In my opinion, this is a true and canon ending where the journey ahead does not end there. A dlc might be possible if From Software makes additional plot to this game.
If you are wondering about the sculptor's fate... He was the Demon of Hate boss fight who Sekiro kills.

The Sculptor becomes Shura. That's why Emma said she's seen it once before. You fight him ( Demon of Anger ) where you fought the " MY NAAAAME " guy on the horse. He thanks Sekiro from freeing him.
pretty certain it is the owl who stabs you in the back after the Hirata Estate area. It is why he seems just as surprised to see you alive as you are to see him.

I know I probably missing out already and you maybe have a different opinion, but whatever. I like too have some same perspective with vaati, where the west referr to the Korean land, which proof from the blade that dragon hold is "seven branch sword" which was the sword given to Japanese Lord ( I believe I could be wrong) from the Korean Lord.

The ending where sekiro sacrifices his live so that his master Kuro can have a normal Human life got me to my feels bro. TwT Thats enough to make a grown man cry. The complete loyalty he showed till the very end is beautiful and sad at the same time.😭
The BMG as he places the mortal blade on his shoulder to severe his head makes it more emotional and sensational. Sakura petals shines and floats after he severed his own head really hits me to my core.
Damn, it didn't fully hit me until I read this. Sekiro (In that path) never wavered, and knew exactly what he was fighting for. That's what I love about fromsoft games. The lore behind them feels so vast that it's honestly too overwhelming for me to understand, but moments like that, with a blood-soaked journey before it, are always familiar. They hit so hard.
Let me guess they meet a Magical monkey, Magical pig, and a water spirit on their way west to find the dragonballs.

It's more as if Sekiro thought of Kuro as his own son, rather than his master at the purification ending. You can clearly hear from his voice that he truly wishes nothing but happiness for Kuro (Father-like feelings).

Most would reverse the last two but the eavesdropping and shit makes it as hidden as the return ending, and it's more a secret alternative good ending while Return sets up for more. If one of them is canon, it seems like that would be Return.

The ending with The Wolf committing seppuku for severing the last immortal got me in the feels I love this character and his devotion to his mission and Kuro (but gotta still love daddy Owl)
Not really *for* severing the last immortal, but *to* sever the last immortal. He's talking about himself. He still has the power of Kuro's blood inside him at that point, so he has to kill himself with the Mortal Blade to erase it after purifying Kuro of it with the Everblossom and Dragon's Tears.

I take the shura ending if we can create our own character like in other souls game to kill sekiro as the last boss.
What does shura mean
So, in the Shura ending, sekiro was consumed by shura and later became the demon of hatred himself. Just like in the other good endings, the sculptor became the demon of hatred as he once walked the path of shura.
Demon of hatred isnt the Shura, it is when the person who was going to become Shura doesnt and the wrath and hatred ends up building until it manifests whether the owner is actually bloodlusted or not. If you read the memory of the demon of hatred it will tell you they arent the same.

The "Shura Ending" is the quickest cycle to play. In Buddhism Asura is a demi-god or titan of addiction to negativity. ... Sekiro can become a shura but in doing loses everything and everyone.

In each of the ending, excluding the shura ending, you can tell how Kuro feels about each of them on his facial expression when he drinks the Dragon tears.

The purification ending seems much more better it made Sekiro much more like a badass in the end. Defeating the Sword Saint and delivering his full loyalty towards his lord is much more preferable.
I agree more with the secret ending. Even after Kuro's or Sekiro's death, the job still won't be done. It's too early for sacrifice. Plus I'm a sucker for compassion and free will

Wow just wow. Just when i thought i knew it all
well for now its the best game from Souls series, sometimes it remind me even GoW and thats a right path to walk further, its have so japanese style of combat and more speed more dynamic that souls and etc, yes it more easy to fight enemyes but its inevitable - when in souls u have just one or two types of atack - here u have an arsenal to deal with enemy so it not survival but still hard enought to enjoy, atmosphre and surroundings epic and less depression than in souls - the mountains and temples like fresh air after endless dirty catacoms and etc.
Its not a Souls game. The one in charge of this game said that. With Sekiro they are trying to make it as un souls-like as possible. Hence no References to DS. Well there may be 1 or 2 but so far there isn't any references found to my knowledge.
@@francisdimaano2350 It's not in the souls canon, but it is a "souls" game. We have Estus Flask, Bonfires, the combat is pretty similar as a nice between of Dark Souls and Bloodborne. The way you interact with the world and lore is similar, they even reused the theme of some curse or affliction that is related to your respawning gameplay mechanic. The only thing that makes it different is that Wolf talks and you can pause the game.

Hammering home in a different way, if you didn't pick up on it otherwise or go for the Purification ending, that Owl's the one who tried to kill him in the first place.

@@thedoomslayer5863 I can't remember if it's ever said explicitly, but it's hinted at with his dialogue about your growth when he tries to backstab you, he's the one who was behind the attack on the Hirata Estate, your second fight against him is in the same room you were stabbed in shortly after your fight with Butterfly, and his odachi.

It could be I mean time travel was a thing and we didn't get a good look at sekiro in his training to be a shinobi and Sekiro had somewhat amnesia for the Hirata estate area so you could be on to something the Sculptor could be Sekiro in the future

Historically, The Ashina Clan have been destroyed by Date Masamune, so the first ending does make sense, soldiers and townfolks die by the thousand.

True ending. You start on its path after defeating Owl and hugging a wall to eavesdrop on Kuro. Then talk to Emma and follow her steps and eventually eavesdrop. Also defeat a secret boss in Hirata Estate.

You can still play after. It gives you the choice to start Journey 2 or continue where you're at to finish any remaining bosses or items to collect.

99% sure it was The Old Owl becauae the blades look similiar and he was suprised to see sekiro alive

No you can get 3 of the endings in one play through if you do purification steps and return steps before final boss fight. And after you kill final boss make a usb save before the choices. And reload after you choose each. Other than that yes you'll have to play through at least twice to get them all.

Shura 修羅 or Ashura 阿修羅 is aJapanese way to call the Buddhism demigod of war Asura. In Japanese, we sometimes use it to describe a person who fell into a situation in which they have to fight an endless war against something, in a relentless and inhumane manner.

its a demon like the sculptor who becomes the hate demon. in the game lore its a human turned into a monster by killing indiscriminately.
Per the game's lore, a Demon consumed and possessed by Hatred and the desire to kill. Eventually they forget why they kill, killing purely for the enjoyment of it.
