I enjoyed your discussion about this topic and would like to comment as a long time consumer of the same brand of green tea. A true Green Tea will have nearly no yCaffeine and very low Tannin and not be infused with any added flavours. As with any tea, it should NOT be scolded and should be drank at body temperature. It should come from a producer who doesn’t use pesticides and be grown as organically as possible. I have been drinking green tea for over 45 years and I would have a minimum of 10 cups per day. I only drink 1 or 2 cups of coffee per week. I am 74 years young, with no medical issues, and have a regular exercise regime and in the habit of doing 80 to 100 push-ups per day and follow the Wim Hof method of breathing and cold water and ice exposure. I move and feel like I did at 40, so I will always continue to drink green tea as my go-to beverage no mater what the “ science “ says, unless I find the green tea is giving me some grief that ‘I’ can confirm is the culprit. While I respect scientific research and opinions, the research is often swayed by commercial interests and other considerations. Thanks for your video.

Great video. Electric kettles here in Japan often have settings for 90, 95, and 98℃ and as you say, we often use 90 for green tea, though I prefer a digital kettle and set it to 80 or I add ice before drinking as there’ve been a lot of studies on cancer and hot drinks including tap water, filtered water, barley tea, green tea, black tea, etc. and there’s a clear correlation between frequency of drinking liquids with proximity to boiling and esophageal cancer.
We have blood tests here to check for several types of cancer and depending on the clinic you go to, it’s possible to get the blood test results back by the time your physical is done.
My only criticism is the term “western diet”.
It’s better to say “industrialized diet”. Traditional “western” cuisine was generally heathy before the west industrialized. Likewise, we have Japanese-style fast food and processed food which resembles traditional food in flavor, and exceeds it in convenience, but is of questionable healthiness.

I think the correct word is synergy. A good example is taking vitamin c in isolation or in food form. In food form it is more beneficial because the other compounds like copper enhance it’s therapeutic effect. Together they have a synergistic effect which you don’t get when you take it on it’s own.

Copper? I once drank lemonade from a copper glass as a teen. I couldn't find a glass so it was nearest and I had just come from the sun so wanted to drink something cool. I was fighting with my mom....but she came running to the kitchen and asked what I was drinking. I did not answer and gulped down the lemonade as my mom exclaimed! "No no no! U should not combine sour and copper. U will get a reaction!" I spent the next hour vomitting my guts out 😂

I have a question: What country in Africa? Or are you referring to the continent in general? I believe that stress causes cancer & that if you are genetically predisposed it will appear in your (genetically) most vulnerable organ. So, since you seem to be familiar with Africa, would there be a correlation between life stress in the differing populations, or urban/rural way of life. I would even like to see such a study of stress-induced illnesses here in America...Hard to measure "stress" though, some people seem to thrive on the fast-paced life, others not so much. But then for those who love the fast-paced life, there is no stress.

In my case its just a few seconds. So i wonder if i get much caffeine but i enjoy a cup once a day on average and in winters i can go upto 3 cups also. I find green tea bitter and just tasteless. I have never had matcha but just the dip bag green tea is so tasteless....i am not able to understand why anyone enjoys it. Not sure if we get the real green tea in india anyways.

One caveat: as they say, all good things in moderation. About 15 years ago I had jumped head first into the green tea band wagon. Every day for a couple years I would steep about 5 bags of green tea in a large pot of water to create my daily supply. I finally stopped when I developed kidney stones and my right ureter was completely blocked and required surgery to remove. I saved one of the kidney stones and it is a beautiful green crystal! Of course there are other factors in developing kidney stones, salt intake, hydration, etc so I'm not laying the fault entirely on green tea but there is research that relates very high levels of green tea intake with kidney stone formation.

It's the caffeine that makes your heart race. I'm caffeine-sensitive and had to stop drinking tea because of the side effects. Coffee doesn't have nearly as much caffeine in it as tea does. You must trust me on this! I love iced tea and the "high" it gives me, but when the caffeine wears off, I become angry at the least little things. Even worse, I become destructive. I once kicked a hole in a sheetrock wall in my house. That was 21 years ago, and I haven't had even a swallow of tea since that time!

Chinese only drink green tea if they can cope with them. In chinese medicine as known by common sense of typical chinese folks, green tea is "cold" and in some extreme cases they lose consciousness or feel nauseated after drinking green tea. The body is often "hot" if they eat western diet, like eating spicy deep fried foods. i think indians also have similar concept.
What does all this mean? There could be a severe sampling bias as many chinese choose to drink green tea as most could identify their body type of being hot. So the effectiveness of green tea for the chinese population may be artificially higher as those folks with "cold" body type were eliminated.
That s why in Chinese traditional restaurant, diners often order green tea And roasted fermented black tea for guests. For japanese style green tea, many say in hong kong only buy those that said they had been tested for pesticides etc.

This was a running joke in “Sleeper” by Woody Allen. He was a health food store owner who is frozen and is woken up by doctors 200 years later- while looking at his chart they are amused and confused by the reference to “health food”. I think the quote is “you mean they didn’t know about the benefits of deep fat and hot fudge?!” (Or something like that) 😂

Hello from Greece 🌞 i used to drink green and black tea every afternoon less in winter like one big cup..but in summer i make 2litres and it's replaced some of the water i consumed....i have one more question because i can see that you have a huge variety of knowledgesl..Well my issue is that my 6years daughter 10 days ago for first time in her life starts to has red spots more on her face and less at her whole body...our doctor diagnosis was allergy in some food ingredient so the only food my daughter can eat for 15 days is only chicken.beef . spaghetti.potato and yogurt.and then i will call him again..until now she is much better but i want a second opinion for how we can continue after the end of this (poor diet)..I mean how to minimized the risk that the allergy be something short who appears only one time and not to stay for the rest of her life.. thank you 🙏

Any beverage with caffeine destroys the calcium in our bones. It causes pain as many seniors suffer from. Even some young people who have autoimmune diseases suffer from very bad cramping of the legs and feet after drinking caffeine.
I spoke to a senior 2 days ago who told me she doesn't know what's causing her pain, even though she is drinking green tea every day as she was told to do. In my shock, I told her this is what's causing her pain. She told me she will never drink it again. I was glad.

@@TheMossReport i had to quit green teas sadly even knowing it has powerful capabilities. I have suspected before, it could be residues of compounds sprayed on the leaves before? The origin of growing teas are not always clear, even being organic. The surface of all these leaves, likely concentrate in higher doses when it's crushed into tea, so, it could be that relatively small amounts of anti-fungal or other anti-insect chemicals, result in higher doses of it when it's crushed into tea. Just a wild guess. Anyway, the caffeine can't be it. My coffees are extremely strong and i use LARGE amounts of coffee.
But green tea causes effects in me that seriously scared me. Nightmares and other anxiousness related issues
