Thanks for your info, my wife has not worked at all, she is a mom of 3 kids now. She wants to apply but looking for a lawyer to help her out. She doesn’t know what the regulations are and where to find the lawyer.
What is your best advice if you have a lawyer already working on your case, but he is extremely hard to contact, and rarely answers any of my questions, basically I have done almost everything on my own, is it possible to get a new lawyer after you have applied?
Sorry to hear you've had a hard time getting in touch with your lawyer. Unfortunately, it's incredibly difficult to find a new representation once you've started working with a firm. One of the reasons we started Atticus was to help folks find the right representation the first time - since it can be so hard to switch. We have a full write up on firing your lawyer here: www.atticus.com/advice/general/when-and-how-to-fire-your-disability-lawyer Because the disability process takes awhile - there are often long stretches of time in which your lawyer doesn't have any updates. It's just a waiting game with the SSA. If they're slow to respond when you *do* have a deadline coming up - we recommend reaching out with more persistence. But often - as unideal as it feels - a firm can represent you well while being difficult to reach. If you have questions about the disability benefits process and still can't reach your lawyer - we have a ton of free advice in our resource center: www.atticus.com/advice We wish you the best of luck!

The lawyer gets most of your back time money tho
You're right; lawyers are paid out of your pack pay check. But by law - they can only take 25% of that check, or $9200, whichever is lower.
