  • I learned about Indomie noodles from a friend of mine from Indonesia, who happens to be in Iraq now. Because of a tooth problem we were talking and I said I would be eating Ramen for a while. Shanti Suggested I try the Indonesian noodles Indomie and she sent me a TH-cam Video showing me what they were. The rest is history

I'm Indonesian but used to live in the US. Indomie was my go to ramen. I tried brands common in Walmart/Kroger but never like it.
I use to get it from Asian Store near my apt. They had many kinds of flavor, but not as much as in Indonesia (obviously) and they also sell chillies like home so I can cook it just like at home.

Neng you are right about the different flavors in the U.S. grocery store. I only found 3 flavors at Kroger, but now I know where to go in a pinch. Hong Kong Food was the palace to go in Houston, until they didn't have it anymore. Now I will go to H Mart in Katy when I need more Indomie. Thanks for your comment 😇.

those are some pretty good noodles! They come in many different flavors, but regular is the best. Kroger always seems to carry them in the Asian foods section. (never seen them at Walmart either)...if you happen to have an asian market nearby, They have more variety of ramen. If you DO go to an asian market and find yourself in the ramen section, i highly suggest you look for MAMA brand "Beef Stew Noodles"...if you love the indomie, then this flavor is right there with it.

I always think how strange the way people outside of indonesia cook instant noodles, because in indonesia i never see anyone put the noodles inside of the bowl, usually we just put the seasonings inside of the bowl and cook the indomie separately on a pot of boiling water to prevent slimy noodles, i'm gonna try cooking it like u did to see if it tastes better

You have a very good point Dexalium I use this method because the first noodles I tried in 1971, I was in Korea and we had to make them in our barracks on a pot belly stove that provided heat for the room. Step to cook proper Indomie goreng.
Open seasoning, sauce and oil,put it to bowl, mixed it together until it form a PASTE.
Boil the water, until it really boils.
The volume of the water, should be not too much, enough to submerge the noodles.
When it boils, put the noodles in.you could add egg,or any meat.
You could drain the water or not.
If the amount of water is just right, you don't need to drain it at all,and the egg or meat should be properly cooked.
Your noodle and egg and meat is set.
Put it in the bowl you prepared the paste earlier.
    Mixed it up.
    The Indomie is ready.

The egg, meat or veggies are optional.
Its just to add more kick.
Indomie, same with another brand, contains too much salt.itvis dangerous in the long run for your blood pressure.

i dont think you're supposed to "brew" the ramen with hot water. I recommend cooking it for a better noodle texture instead.

    • @donquinn1343
      @donquinn1343  2 ปีที่แล้ว

Thanks Toomo I always cook my ramen in cold water and nuke it for 3 minutes. Then I add the sauces and give it another 30 seconds. I appreciate your comments. 😇

It's quicker than boiling water. I used boiling water in 1971 while in Korea, we didn't have microwaves then 🤭
