I'm so annoyed that the published date of this video is November 1 😭. It got a copyright claim during my initial upload, and by the time I fixed the issue and re-uploaded, it had, quite literally, just turned midnight
17:46 I would also say that fnaf's jumpscares are your punishment for sucking at the game; they don't just scare you to scare you, they scare you out of your skill issue 1:25:21 one year i dressed as ninjago's green ninja, and some old guy guessed i was supposed to be the green arrow
Dude I'm laying in bed at two in the morning just now getting a notification that you just dropped what's surely another masterpiece of an iceberg onto youtube. I've said this on almost every single one of your videos by now, but you really are one of the best content creators on here when it comes to dedication to quality and interesting videos. I can't wait to start the weekend with this tomorrow (while almost certainly rewatching all your others). Again and forever, thank you. (Also when I just realized that it must have taken months of preparation to get a two hour long video out specifically about Halloween on the (almost) day of, again just proving your dedication). edit as of finishing the video: EIGHT TO NINE HOUR LONG ICEBERG IN THE WORKS??
You are genuinely one of my favorite TH-camrs and it’s always a delight to see a new video pop up! I don’t really see any other content creator add in personal experiences with a particular entry and it’s my favorite part about your videos, it’s nice seeing similar childhood experiences or something new. Hope you had a great Halloween!
@BlakeFieri I'm really happy to hear that! I wanted to do something for Halloween, and I know my audience mostly likes video game related stuff, so, many times while making this video, I almost just scrapped it, thinking it would be too esoteric, and people would hate it!
Thank you! Admittedly, I do think this video is of a bit lower quality than my most recent offerings since I was a bit on a time crunch to get it out. I know i could have put a lot more into the actual video portion if given more time! I hope you enjoyed it regardless!!
I have something more recent to add to the iceberg In Russia for the last two Halloween seasons, there has been a running joke of "Тыквенный спас (Tykvenny spas)", or Pumpkin Feast of the Saviour in English. It's supposed to be the same as three other religious holidays (the Apple, Honey and Nut Feasts respectfully), but it's just a silly way to refer to Halloween and not actually a holiday. It's a satire of those who dislike Halloween due to it being "too western" or "demonic". It's actually really popular, to the point where some people not aware of the joke think it's an actual religious holiday
that was pretty enjoyable . I like this style of "lazy" iceberg with a lot of personal anecdotes. the throwbacks from 2020 threw me for a loop man I can't believe it was nearly 5 years ago we were in lockdown
22:25 Fun fact: Rosanne actually started the idea of the Halloween special. She had to fight like hell back in the 80s for the network to allow her to do it, they just didn't think it would be popular.
So far i really love this video. Ive always liked the little personal stories you threw in the others videos. And this one seems to have a lot of that. Theres just something about hearing someone talk fondly of their life events while also talking about a topic they genuinely are interested in. Makes your whole channel feel really personal which i dont see a lot of in many of the icebergs and such i watch. Love your videos man, theyre amazing. Have a happy Halloween! Kinda
Oh, so we are around the same age and grew up in the same area. Nice. It's gonna be fun binge-watching this Iceberg, when I have the time. Hope you had a good Halloween this year!
Loved the video as always! This was a great watch on Halloween night for me. I was very pleasantly surprised to hear you mention Creature Feature, I also like their music a lot! I didn't comment until now because I got very very addicted and distracted to/by Factorio. I was probably going to say a lot more but I forgot most of it, next time I rewatch this I'll maybe reply to my comment and say anything I remember wanting to say. Seriously though, this was a wonderful watch especially on that lonely Halloween night, especially given I had gone through some stuff earlier that day, this was an absolutely perfect video to relax to. Thank you for continuing to upload videos, I love them all, and they are my absolute favorite listening material while I play games.
I'm really glad you only cover topics that you feel specially connected to, I think it gives your storytelling style a really special--like credibility boost? I always get the impression that you respect the topic, but its almost like your telling secrets rather then listing bullet points. Killer work man, also, what does the c in NEScRETRO mean?
1:03:28 Not sure if this is referring to anything in particular either, I haven't posted there in awhile. But I know it's not just posts - on halloween they customize the site a bit. Change the colors, backgrounds, have some animated skeleton gifs around, play spooky scary skeletons in the background, etc. You could consider that for the influence 4chan had/has it helped popularize some "spooky" memes like Mr Bone's Wild ride starting from a post there, thanks Mr. Skeltal, doot, creepypastas as you said, etc.
Thank you! I'm really glad you enjoyed it! I felt this was such a strange video to make, and it would go over a lot of people's heads, so I'm happy comments of enjoyment!
Halloween is a holiday that I love from a young age. And it kind of died down, but I still did trick or treating. But I didn't do trick or treating this year because I didn't have a costume. There is one instance that I was made fun of for a costume, in 2018, I was in 7th grade and I got a costume of Ralphel from Rise Of The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (because I couldn't find a Leonardo costume), I couldn't fit in the bodysuit, so I had to wear the mask to school, during art class, the costume thing you mentioned in this video, and some kid saw me, then they had the gall to call a neurodivergent teenager "Autistic Ralph" which made me cry and I thankfully told on this kid. Also, there is a Halloween level for Angry Birds 2 called Snot City which has a mechanic with trails of slime which can let the bird you fling ride on and will either help you bashing a minion pig, but you're gonna have to get through a LOT of filler in that game.
I agree 100% about what you said with startling noises… I went to a haunted house last month and I kept getting “scared”… but no, someone jumped out at me and screamed and my body reacted to that 😂 And either an urban legend / mystery or spooky lost media video would be amazing!!
Sadly, Halloween really fell off here in Sweden. Post 2011, I think it just kinda died here, but I remember there being a HUUUGE market push for it as a celebration back in 1998-2004 when I was 5 to 11. My first Halloween at like 5 was very magical, albeit we never decorated as much as the Americans seemed to do, mostly pumpkin carvings, some spiderweb or light decorating indoors. Now during Halloween, it is rare to even see a decorated house at all, nobody really celebrates Halloween here anymore, atleast to my knowledge.
@NEScRETRO Yes, atleast me and my irl-friends still do the Halloween movie marathon. This year we watched: Alien, Friday the 13th 1 and 2, Halloween 3 and finishing off with one of my fave horror movies, Dracula (1932) on bluray :)
I've been waiting for your next release and glad to say im pleasently suprised, this is a pretty unique take on both an iceburg video and one about Halloween and im here for it!
I was born in 2004, so yeah I can confirm that easy access to the internet really does desensitize you to horror, at least jumpscares. (especially if you had extremely early internet access like I did, I was browsing TH-cam around age 5 or so… I was exposed to so many screamers-)
You know this got me thinking about the fact that I was allowed to go trick or treating, but my parents were/are super paranoid people, so I actually wasn't allowed to eat any of the candy as they believed it was too risky. There might be poison or something in there. At the very least my mom was nice enough to buy one of those mix bags of candy just for us, and whatever we didn't handout was also fair game. Once I started trick or treating with my friends as I got older, I would give away the candy I would get, as I did feel just dumping it was rather wasteful. Clearly they were fine, but I suppose by that point my parent's paranoia had rubbed off on me. This is just one story in my strange childhood. Edit: Great vid as always
To wake up to see the picture of Steven Damman reading missing child really made me uneasy because he looked identical to my oldest. I know it's a long shot but I hope they find evidence on what happened to the children.
I loved Halloween when I was a kid. In my grandmother's neighborhood that we trick or treated in, like 85% of the houses participated. You would walk down one street and hear Michael Myers playing, walk down another street, you'd hear the Amityville Horror theme playing. Garage haunted houses, decorations everywhere, families outside chillin while passing out candy. Get back to the house to watch scary movies... Early 2000s Halloween for me was so special. From 1999 - 2006 🎃 Great memories
I underestimated how tired I was and ended up falling asleep about an hour and a half into the video. Ah well at least it gave me something to watch when I woke up.
I looooved the wax bottle candies as a kid. What I did is I would chew off the top and then suck out the juice like it was a gogurt lol and then after I would literally chew on the wax like gum to get the rest of the flavoring out. It was definitely weird but with my oral fixations I've always had it was genuinely satisfying every time lol. The gas station kind of near my house would sell them year round and I got them all the time
i was personally never a big fan of halloween (probably because i actually dont really like candy) but still a pretty good video (even for being a day off lol thats gotta hurt) -also it might be time for me to binge all your videos again their just that good cant wait for that 8-9 hour long video the long ones are my favorites keep up the good work :D
I just finished watching your video so I'll just leave a few comments here: 1. An Urban Legends iceberg sounds really cool! Especially if you try to find a particularly high quality and beefy one, as that's a very common topic for icebergs to cover. 2. YOU'RE A MURDER DRONES FAN TOO??? I didn't didn't expect you to be a fan of any Glitch Productions show! Any other shows from them you're a fan of? Like The Amazing Digital Circus? 3. Your cat meowed on 11:07 4. I find your deadpan and "let's get this over with" attitude in covering NSFW topics to be endearing and funny for some reason. Maybe not the best way to describe it but idk how else to put it. Most other TH-camrs would very "Erm, I don't want to be demonetized so let me just use safe euphemisms made by Tik Tok🥺🥺" about it, if they don't just ignore and skip entirely.
1. Oh yes, I found a VERY beefy urban legends iceberg! As I mentioned in this video, I'm very well versed in urban legends. I actually have a whole shelf on my bookshelf dedicated to urban legends, from encyclopedias to really old books from the early 1900s dedicated to folklore, and this iceberg covers just about everything! It'll really put my knowledge to the test, as well as give me the opportunity to research and learn more! 2. I LOVE Murder Drones and Digital Circus! I have a Pomni plush in the back window of my car and recently ordered Uzi, V, J, and Cyn plushes to join her! I know Glitch has made other series, but so far, I've only watched those two, and they're both really fun! It doesn't seem likely, but I do hope we get more Murder Drones content in the future! 3. She did! I didn't even notice her meowing when I was recording! Cat reveal at 100k subscribers, maybe? 4. I try REALLY hard to not say or do the usual TH-camr stuff. Like, I hate asking for subscribers or likes. If a viewer likes something, they'll do that on their own. Reminding them is pointless and condescending, at least in my opinion, and it just always sticks out. Every time I watch a TH-cam video and someone asks that, it just kind of brings things to a halt in the momentum of the subject. Even in my very first video, when I would jokingly yell "like comment AND SUBSCRIBE" as a joke, I stopped doing that because even that felt like too much lol. The only thing I don't mind asking is for viewers to comment because in those cases, it's because I'm genuinely interested in learning more about what I'm asking or viewer opinion on future topics! As much as TH-cam has helped me out in my real life financially, I still hold true to my views on how TH-cam should be. I HATE mid video ads, and luckily, TH-cam allows me to choose where ads are, and, as long as I have the choice, I will NEVER allow ads in the middle of my videos, because when I watch videos, I hate seeing them. I may have TH-cam premium now, but I still understand the frustration of seeing ads, ESPECIALLY in the middle of videos. The money made from ads showing up in the middle of a video doesn't outweigh my hatred of them lol.
1:46:18 I used pigs blood I bought from a butcher and heated in a double boiler until it was a safe to consume temperature and stained a shirt with it for a costume last Halloween
1:04:30 If I'm not mistaken, I think the whole "Nick or Treat" thing was canceled because of how the name's pronunciation made it sound like the characters were saying a certain "other" word.
@liil115 I'm considering making one, but I'd like it to be more than just a tip jar. I sub to a couple creators on patreon, and they make it worth your while with patreon exclusive videos and all that. Ideally I'd love to be able to do that. Making this video proved to me that I can make an entire video from concept, scripting, recording, and editing in about a month, with the video coming out to about two hours long if I really put my focus on it. I have an idea for a December video, and, no, it's not a Christmas iceberg, but maybe I could do that too, in a similar style to this one! What I'm trying to say is that I could be a much more prolific creator if I put myself onto it. I really don't want to burn out, but I do have a goal, and that's reaching 100k subs. If I continue making videos like this one, as well as the usual video game stuff, and stop procrastinating so much, I'm sure I could reach it! Maybe I'll make that my goal for 2025, alongside producing more content. Wow... I just realized I typed all this, and all you asked was if I had a patreon lol. TL;DR I'll consider it!
39:37 Woah, planet Dolan mentioned! Been a while, they stopped the reddit stories loong ago and the channel was death until like last year Dolan tried to revive it using a vtuber model, if anyone wanted to know Also, the voice actor for planet dolan Hellbent groomed a minor and "dated" her very publicly on his channel and streams, until she came out with her story and the fact that there is a police investigation so of course he immediately ran away from the internet, if he ever comes back, don't let him forget
Don't know what happened to my comment went, but anyway, I think the 'Paying for Candy' thing is about whether or not about it's 'in the spirit of Halloween' to just buy your own candy?
aw yea new NEScRETRO iceberg lets go boys right off the bat mentioning the Montreal jingle brings back memories. im canadian and used that all the time as a kid.
i think costume injuries could also be referring to the accessories for some costumes that are meant to look like an injury. like a screw through the hand or knife in the head, and sometimes can be pretty realistic. went for halloween one year as Link from Zelda and everyone said "oh is that Peter Pan?" lol
The idea of playing Resident Evil outside in the dark with laser guns is probably the coolest thing ever, I'm so jealous.

I would love to see more of these more relaxed iceberg videos, this video has such cozy vibes
Another great video as always man, I can't wait for the next 8 to 9 hour one!
Thanks Sunflower!!! It's in the works!
Top tier iceberg lore video. Good shit man, keep at it
Bro 😮, looking forward to it 👀
Yes, please do an urban legends iceberg
Let’s gooooo!!!!
Also, my favorite horror movies are Friday the 13th Part 6, the original Halloween, and Army of Darkness
This is one of your best yet! Please keep these coming!

I’d love to see that urban legends iceberg! Your videos are kickass
I love halloween so much! Thank you for your nostalgic memories as always, I love your more off the cuff style and chipper personality!
welcome back favourite TH-camr 🎉🎉🎉🎉 amazing vid as usual
Once again another amazing and thorough iceberg deep dive video from you. Always love when one drops!
Please do an urban legends video! I love your videos and would love to see what you could uncover in your research.

I always live for seeing new videos from you! This made my week!

DUDEEEEE FINALLY YESSSSSS!!! THE KING HAS RETURNED
PEAK IS BACK ON THE MENU

@@Rangoose thank you so much!! I wasn't sure how such an esoteric video would go, I'm so happy people seem to like it!
Drop everything. NEScRETRO just uploaded another modern classic.
1:26:04 I didn't see any Murder Drones (I think, never seen the show) BUT I DID see a Pomini from TADC costume.
Awww! Digital Circus costumes are awesome! I would have loved to see that too!
1:46:18 I used pigs blood I bought from a butcher and heated in a double boiler until it was a safe to consume temperature and stained a shirt with it for a costume last Halloween
1:04:30 If I'm not mistaken, I think the whole "Nick or Treat" thing was canceled because of how the name's pronunciation made it sound like the characters were saying a certain "other" word.
that makes WAY too much sense, that's probably it lol.
Idk what this is. But I needed it.
I failed finishing treehouse of horror this year but i'll still see treehouse of horror XXXV
As far as dressing up as religious figures goes, I remember that I dressed up as Moses for one Halloween as a kid.
as a year round ghoul this is so true
do you have a patreon or anything of the sort? id love to support this type of content and youre easily my favorite content creator
Nice, I needed something to watch
It’s a Halloween miracle
Omg how did I miss this notification!? New video let’s gooo!!!
Yes I've been waiting for your videos it's always a treat a rare one but a treat when I see your video
THERE IT IS DUDE IT'S BACK THANK YOU SO MUCH
We're sooo back!
39:37 Woah, planet Dolan mentioned! Been a while, they stopped the reddit stories loong ago and the channel was death until like last year Dolan tried to revive it using a vtuber model, if anyone wanted to know
Also, the voice actor for planet dolan Hellbent groomed a minor and "dated" her very publicly on his channel and streams, until she came out with her story and the fact that there is a police investigation so of course he immediately ran away from the internet, if he ever comes back, don't let him forget
@zoel9000 oh my god I had no idea!!!
CAPTA was enacted in 1974. Just to let you know. Idk if that doctor would have been charged with it or not, though.
LETSS GOO MORE ICE BERGS
Yey I needed this thank you/gen
"If you don't, I don't care. I'll show you my underwear"

No “Trick-or-treat, smell my feet! Give me something good to eat! If you don’t I’ll make you pay, 50 dollars every day?”
@@otakutrash6156 oooo I like that one!!! I've never heard it before, nor did I find it in my research, but that's really good!!!
THE GOAT
holy freaking moly I'm IN (for a treat!)
he’s back
Don't know what happened to my comment went, but anyway, I think the 'Paying for Candy' thing is about whether or not about it's 'in the spirit of Halloween' to just buy your own candy?
thank God I was getting hungry
aw yea new NEScRETRO iceberg lets go boys
right off the bat mentioning the Montreal jingle brings back memories. im canadian and used that all the time as a kid.
Luigi's Mansion is my halloween game. not too scary but it's my perfect image of halloween the aesthetic.
it only happened once, but i actually had a friend who got a very small thin pin in one of their candies.
i think costume injuries could also be referring to the accessories for some costumes that are meant to look like an injury. like a screw through the hand or knife in the head, and sometimes can be pretty realistic.
went for halloween one year as Link from Zelda and everyone said "oh is that Peter Pan?" lol
WOOOOOO
It's true, both Halloween 1997 and 2003 are Fridays. Don't ask why I'm fact checking this
You need to upload that tree house of horror vhs now
