    Simply incredible how far electronics have advanced in the last 40 yrs. Back in the 80's I built a six channel on the old 27Mhz band. The receiver was most daunting. True AM super heterodyne technology, hand turned pick-up coils with 455Khz IF coils. Miracle to have got it working at all. Well done on this very well presented project...Brilliant.

    When changing the channel inversion to control the servo, I noticed that there was an error in the assignment of channels to pins.
    Namely, the A3 NANO CH4 pin of the transmitter controls the D0 (RX) pin of the ATmega328P-PU_DIP CH1 of the receiver.
    It is similar with A1 - CH2 of the transmitter, and on the receiver it is CH3 - D3.
    TRIM in the transmitter works well for me.
    I haven't changed anything in the code, the pins are assigned as in the shared code.
    How and where can this be fixed?

  • @IzergilBaba
    @IzergilBaba ปีที่แล้ว +16

    It would be interesting to try the same project, but with the ESP32 with external antennas connected through the ESP-Now protocol in Long-Range mode. The price range will be the same, and ESP32 can be programmed in Arduino IDE. Also, the weight of the receiver can be reduced using some tiny ESP32-C3 modules, such as Seeeduino.

    Was hoping that you would build the vTX system too! That's what I'm most interested in

    • @conorstewart2214
      @conorstewart2214 ปีที่แล้ว

      VTXs are very complex devices, they are far beyond what a hobbyist can do, just like most kinds of radio control, including the modules used in this video, they just use off the shelf radio modules they didn’t design them themselves. Video in general is a lot more difficult to work with and in drones or robotics they usually just take the camera and connect it to a VTX sometimes through an OSD chip.

  • @conorstewart2214
    @conorstewart2214 ปีที่แล้ว +13

    For the Transmitter you don’t need to connect power and ground to the switches, you can just use the internal pull-up or pulldown internal resistors.

    • @onebreh
      @onebreh ปีที่แล้ว +5

      it changes the behaviour of the pot. For linear input you need to connect power and grund too.

    • @conorstewart2214
      @conorstewart2214 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@onebreh I know how a pot works, I am on about the toggle switches which they connected to both power and ground, they are connected directly to a digital pin, they have nothing to do with the pots and for switches you only need to connect it to either power or ground, not both, and use either pull up or pull down resistors which are present in the arduinos digital pins.
      Also pots don’t need to be linear, you get logarithmic pots too.
      Edit: see how they did the buttons, they can do the switches like that too with only 2 wires.

    You sir, are a GENIUS ! I've still got my old, non working vintage 'fleet' UK brand Tx from when I was 12 (i'm now 58).I'm also studying arduino and coding and now have a 3d printer, so this will be a fabulous project but using the old Tx & joysticks as the housing.It will be a real nostalgia trip. Question: Is there any difference in latency with the DIY system compared to shop bought systems ? And are there any interference issues ? or any other disadvantages with the DIY system i should know about ? Thank you for your excellent content. Amazing resource !! uk.

    • @Kendin-Yap
      @Kendin-Yap  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks. Latency is higher than commercially produced RCs. Especially at long ranges. But a typical model airplane is flown within a radius of 150-250 meters. Therefore, the delay remains within reasonable limits. Signal link stability is also not as good as commercial production RCs. This type of Diy remote control systems is sufficient for models with small electric motors. But I don't recommend it for big and fuel engine models. But I should also point out that; I do not recommend very cheap (under 40-45 usd) commercial production RC systems for fuel models. Because they also have signal stability problems.

    • @Kendin-Yap
      @Kendin-Yap  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      There can be 9 channels. The switches have 2 positions, that is, on/off. The number of digital and analog input and output pins of the Arduino you will use for the circuit determines the limit.
      Multiple recipients possible.

      @@Kendin-Yap do you have in plan a project with more than 9channel? There is a working way to expand the number of digital and analog input and output pins of the Arduino nano (fpr example)?

    How to ensure that two such transmitters do not interfere with each other. Of course, "const uint64_t pipeOut = 000322" for both transmitter/receiver sets is different. Is it possible to set a different range of channels for one set and a different range for the other set - supposedly 125 of them.

      Yes, the "pipe out" command is for that.

      @@Kendin-Yap I built two jetboat sets, I have different "pipe outs" set up in them and the problem is that I can't control two jetboats at the same time because they interfere with each other. Can this be eliminated somehow?

      You must specify two different "pipe out" addresses for two different remote controls. If one of them is "000322", the other one might be like "000220". There is no other method.@@dobo1980

      @@Kendin-Yap In one "pipe out" set I have 001234 and in the other 004321. When I have both sets turned on, they interfere and I cannot sail jet boats. Thanks for the quick replies.
