I'm a retired joiner now, due to ill health, but I have used that method since 1979 when i began serving my time. An old school joiner Bob Wright, showed me it, and i think only you me and Bob knew about it. Works every time. Great video.
Thank you so much! I can’t lean my drop saw side to side as it’s jammed (was salvaged out of a skip bin). Was able to adapt your technique to upright 45 degree angle cuts - got me out of a pickle! Thanks again
Can't get onto a site these days without 3 grands worth of kit. I have often wondered how all the skirtings fit so well in victorian houses. Tape, saw, pencil 30 quid. Knowledge- priceless. Great video.
My first reaction was "that'll never work" but I tried it today and it worked perfectly on ogee skirting around the base of a radiator cover. Many thanks for a great tip!
FINALLY! A video that shows such simple steps. I’ve been putting off skirting for a couple of weeks now because the other videos have confused me. This is absolutely perfect and I’m going to skirting on Monday now. Thanks again :)
You just use a spacer, and follow the floor, pressing pencil against the spacer as you move along the floor, leaving the pencil line on the skirting board.
i tried this started off ok but when i came to the line i drawed after cutting the top ..as u shoiwed us , my cut wavered inwards lol tried numerous times

How did it go?
Yep... How did it go?
Amazing, I only watched the video up till the point you showed the reflection of the skirting in the saw. Amazing, I wish I had a sensai like you.
I've watched 12 videos regarding this, what a method this is, class mate fair play
You videos are great, no bull shit, and good enough! I think people forget about decorating calk, filler and the bits no one actually sees.
Brilliant helpful video, thank you so much.
Some great tips there but I'm just wondering how it works if your corner isn't exactly 90 degrees
That's a good question.. perhaps it would have been tuned up with a hand plane
Amazing work, saved me a lot of time and headaches!!
Fantastic. Never heard of this method using the reflection
Nice I need this I’m a plaster but starting to do skirting board don’t wanna pay for loads of tools il prob barley use ha
Outstanding tutorial , every day is a school day . I've always struggled doing them . Not anymore hopefully 🤞👍👍
What about a 22.5? And did all old carpenters have shiny saws capable of reflecting images? Great video
Thats an external corner, ( i think!)....I'm trying to work out if you can do internal corners by this method
Amazing thank you for sharing this video I appreciate your time 🙏🏻
What saw would you recommend please?
10/10 bro. That’s the way, thanking you kindly
Hi mate could you do a video on a room which has uneven floors.. I’ve heard scribing skirts can be a bit awkward when it comes to lining up the mitres
You just use a spacer, and follow the floor, pressing pencil against the spacer as you move along the floor, leaving the pencil line on the skirting board.
This just blew my mind. Awesome!!
Amazing simple .... thankyou sooooo much❤
please clarify what the back of the saw blade is
The bit closest to the handle.
If this works, it will be life changing for the DIY!
Thank you great advice 👍🏼
Thanks for this 👍

Thank you very much 👍👍👍

why did nt i think of this years ago, easy job
Excellent.
Cheers pal!
Thankyou
Genius!
You've got a 90 and a 45 degree on your saw. No need to use ancient Greek sun dial techniques.
