there's no "debate". There's idiots who think they can shove their bullshit religion down everyone's throat and the rest of us are saying, "Bugger off"
whydoucare evolution is based entirely of facts and evidence. It, therefore is the exact opposite of religion - which is nothing but bullshit fairy tales.
ceciliaFX How did nothing create something? Why is there something and not nothing? It took billions of years for life to randomly form, why is the universe fine tuned for life? Now remember all your answers must fit scientific testing. It must be testable, repeatable, and the result must come out the same. This is the scientific method. We'll start with these questions. There are much more.
If it's wrong to teach evolution in schools because it's "just a theory" then it must also be wrong to teach the Theory of Gravity, the Germ Theory of Disease, the Heliocentric Theory, the Atomic Theory, et cetera. These are *EQUAL* in supporting evidence, acceptance, and ALL of them are derived from fact. Some also go along with _laws_ which are usually thought of as the highest level in science even though theories and facts are also substantially supported. We teach _science_ in schools for *REASONS*
While we are at it schools need to stop teaching history; Columbus discovered america, Washington was the first president. That shit has obviously been proven to be false.
But most of evolution is just a Theory, yes we see variations in it's kind but we have never seen one kind switch to another. That is theory and no matter how much evidence you can provide unless it is tested in a lab it is still theory.
@@jonldavis Scientific theory has a different definition and purpose than the casual way people say 'in theory' in conversation. Scientific theory is a collection of tested and proven facts. Look up a few of the other ones I mentioned. Do you believe 'the earth revolves around the sun' is fact? Do you believe 'microorganisms cause disease' is fact? What about gravity?
@@jonldavis Also, here is one example of a species evolving that was closely documented. Most domestic species were. th-cam.com/video/HsIibD-TLcM/w-d-xo.htmlsi=3cBHRD2ORjKIwQ9E
2:32 "Evolution should be mentioned", what does that mean? On the last day of school, "alright bye everyone, have a great summer, by the way, evolution is also a thing, kay bye"

TheAwkwardCantaloupe Dear rest of the world, Us Americans are truly sorry for the dumb half of the country. But your welcome for the Human Genome Project Motherfuckers. Sincerely, some hick
+Sharon Newman why? Because she said she's a Catholic? This just comes across as more of a "Lol I don't like Christians" as opposed to highlighting peoples ignorance.
+Barnaby Weatherall it's still a bad answer because she endorses evolution BECAUSE her church endorses it, not because she's educated enough to know it's based on scientific evidence.
@@Dunger974 You should be taught all the different ways of thinking, in addition to critical thinking, then you should allow the students to work out the rest for themselves.
As a whole, people are more educated and knowledgeable than ever before, atleast for what we can see into the past. I’m sick of stereo types, that all these women are ditzy and dumb, when it’s just not true.
Also, why is it that kids are allowed to "make up their own minds" when it comes to evolution? We don't talk that way about anything else in school. "Billy, what's 5 times 9? "12." "Wrong, the correct answer is 45." "Hold on, teacher. You have to let me make up MY OWN mind on what 5 times 9 is. If I say 5 times 9 is 12, then it's 12. Give me my A+. My dad's a lawyer."
There are many different concepts or theories of evolution, not just natural selection, since these are all theories they would really be asked to make up their own mind.
Evolution however is very very different to mathematics, if you are religious believing in god then you may be insulted and feel constrained. In class we had a discussion where one side was for evolution and the other wasn't (horrible idea), the side believing in it basically said believing in a higher being is stupid and continued to bag out Christians and Muslims, see this is the main thing judges were looking at. Whether teaching this may lead to such things
Aurea Gallardo Sorry, but that's retarded. Kids should be taught facts. That's why it's called science. "Making up your own mind" has no relation to scientific method whatsoever.
divatashi "Evolution makes my feelings hurt, so it must not be real, just like cancer must not be real for the same reason." And this is why christians are not taken seriously on matters of science.
felt sorry for Miss Hawaii at 3:15. She is clearly trying to answer the question as safely as possible without offending the religious viewers, but not saying anything too stupid by her own standards...
Forget theory of evolution - simply teaching what a SCIENTIFIC THEORY is would be a great first step. I'm 30 and still encounter people who have problems understanding the term.
I'm in my last year of undergrad studying BIOLOGICAL SCIENCE and the school first explained the scientific theory LAST YEAR. That's 14 years of education before it was explained to the class. I understood before hand but many people would not, especially if they did not go further than the required grade 10 in science.
Alec B That may be true and I have no doubt many, many others learned late in their education if at all the differences in their meanings. I would like to suggest that those who use the word in defense or support for their thinking realize the difference. I have not heavily criticized the misuse of the term because I too learned late in life the actual difference. Thank you for posting your timeline learning event. It may help allow more civil discussion. If several people read your reply then they too could understand that misuse of the word is often not from the lack of intelligence, but merely a lack of exposure to the difference in it's meaning.
Alec B That's pretty bad. At University of Michigan, in the first day of the first class of undergrad biology, there were about three slides devoted to the differences between theories of common dialect and theories of science. That's all it takes is a slide or two, so long as the people in the class take that important foundation with them.
1st one doesnt answer the question at all. 2nd one thinks theory means hypothesis. 3rd one thinks there are 'so many different views' about evolution. 4th one says she doesnt 'believe' in evolution, its nothing to believe in though, since its a fact. 5th one just says no, cause she doenst believe in it, like nr.4 If you want to convince dumb american people, this might work, but I myself couldnt help but facepalming while watching this video
+Nito Raki it shouldn't be a good thing it should be normal just as not raping or not killing killing somebody shouldn't be a reason to go and say that that person did something good it should be the norm absolutely normal
I almost feel sorry for the contestants. If contestant would answer; -"Evolution should be taught in schools, as it is one of the most well substantiated scientific theories ever", I assume that this contestant would have little chance to win. Welcome to the land of the free!
physics does not change. gravity is gravity. hot air rises. However evolution changes every day. pilt down today no piltdown tomorrow. big bang yesterday the big expansion today. Zero Comparison !!!!!
@@TKO67 The theories of physics you learn in school are literally more contested than the theories of evolution. A lot of what we learn in school about physics is literally wrong but we learn it because it's easier than understanding the true way things work, which we're not really sure of even now.
What's Interesting is, they think: Views, Opinions, Hypothesis, Theories and Facts... are all equal constructs and they do not know the difference between them.
I think it's important to start teaching epistemology in schools, not just as a part of philosophy course at university. How can one really have an effective democracy if people are unable to determine the likelihood of something being true?
They're not. A theory is a hypothesis that has been put through the rigours of the scientific method and peer review and come out unscathed. A theory consists of numerous supporting facts.
your missing the point. It is about where did we come from? There are different views. It is up to the individual to believe what they want. This is not china or russia This is the America. Freedom to choose
The answer to this question is "Yes." That's it, nothing else, that's all that needs to be said. What's sad is that quite a few contestants said yes and still messed up the question in one way or another. The only girl I liked was the last one.
I don't know man. To me saying "I don't believe it because it goes against my faith", seems no worse to me than "I'm allowed to believe it because the pope said I could". Not one of them mentioned the word "evidence", which is really the only thing that matters.
Good point. In all honesty, I have the feeling that not one of these women truly understands evolution. But I'll give the last one the benefit of the doubt for at least noting that one Pope did actually accept evolution. She seems to be (at least socially) informed. It's something; not much, but something.
Tommo L Not all evidences can be explained by science though. There are numerous phenomena that contemporary science have not developed enough to support. :)
Aurea Gallardo Of course that's true, and will always be the case, but evolution isn't some elusive, mysterious, unsolved phenomena, it's one of the most elucidated, useful, evidence based theories in use today. People shouldn't accept it simply because some authority figure told you it was compatible with your faith, they should look at the evidence themselves. That was my point.
I thought this was a joke. Wow, we're in bad shape. There only ONE answer and that's absolutely, positively yes. It's like asking if math be taught in school and getting answers other than of course.
***** Isn't that exciting? So many new things to discover, so much more to learn! This doesn't mean theory of evolution is wrong, only that details are not 100% clear yet. What it doesn't mean is that god did it, that's sure.
FidelisRaven Actually, the details are 100% clear. There's more to learn about it but evolution by natural selection is pretty darn clear. God isn't a theory and barely rises to the level of hypothesis.
The goal of the question is to see if she has diplomatic discourse with poise, that can convince, without offending people, at the international relations level. It is useful and should be tested for. Too bad men don't care.
I'm from Europe and I was very close to fainting when I saw this video. I was not aware that America is still on the cavemen stage. We do not have to invent the time travel machine to go back in history. It is enough to go to the USA.
wieslawl59 Evolution is a pretty simple concept (adapt or die) and the core principles were gone over when I was in school. We didn't learn about Creationism in school, though. The only schools that are usually that backward are private schools that can basically make up their own curricula. Also keep in mind you're talking about BEAUTY PAGEANT CONTESTANTS. You don't really think that's a representative sample of the US population, do you? Maybe you're the one stuck with primitive thinking. To say the United States is "behind the times" is a pretty sophomoric assertion, as well. It's not a Third World country by any means.
encycl07pedia They are people you choose to represent your state. Besides, they are not the only people from USA with such views. There are millions of comments of that type here on youtube.
wieslawl59 Obviously they aren't the only people with the same views. But to act like they're even elected officials is just a stupid assumption. These contestants are chosen by a very small group of judges to represent their state, and they're chosen to represent the most BEAUTIFUL people in the state, not the most educated or the most qualified to discuss/explain evolutionary theory or education reform.
encycl07pedia Dude, being beautiful does not make you free from the obligation to think about important things and things which are important for society, and to educate yourself. Thinking about which nail polish is the best is not enough anymore. If the judges do not require at least minumum level of basic knowledge and showing some thinking activity, it tells also something about the society. Real beauty is supposed to come from inside. If the inside is empty, then there is no beauty in it.
The answer you're looking for is "yes, evolution should be taught in schools because it is a scientific fact." The end. God bless 'merica. How embarrassing.
scientific fact??????????? !!!!!!!!!!! lol not all the scientists agree with this theory ...idiot... try to google whats wrong with the evolution theory then you won't make a stupid comment like this.
Evolution is accepted as scientific fact, just because all scientists do not agree with it means nothing. Thanks for the name calling though, it added to your excellent reply. A scientific theory is a hypothesis which has withstood rigorous testing and is well-supported by the facts. There is overwhelming evidence for biological evolution, just as there is overwhelming evidence for gravity. According to Newsweek magazine, 99.85% of American earth and life scientists accept biological evolution as a fact. Gallup polls also show that 95% of all scientists accept evolution, though it should be noted that this figure includes scientists who study in unrelated fields, like Computer Science, Engineering, etc. The vast majority of scientists accept evolution as fact.
yeowart ***** Why is it a FACT (according to you) if some scientists believe it is..but NOTHING (according to you) if some scientists don't agree with it ?? that's what you say, am I correct? 90% of Americans also believed that Iraq had WMD what turned out to be lies. All lies, yet you guys believed it ;) ... Evolution theory is something you BELIEVE it's a fact ... that means you believe in something because that makes more sense to you than any other religion, right ? So you believe in evolution theory, like someone else believe in Christianity or Islam for example and based on what you said you are a STRONG believer. A scientific method is based on: The collection of data through observation and experimentation. This means that in order something to be seen as a scientific fact it MUST be observable. you agree so far? But if you BELIEVE in evolution theory then you should also know that sir Charles Darwin is talking about generations to millions of years of evolution (The Origin of species)...uhhh but wait... IT's NOT OBSERVABLE..ah!...therefore it can't be 100% a FACT and not even a SCIENTIFIC FACT!! ;) .. you would probably say we can trace the evolution by fossil records.. from thousands of years a ago? but again IT IS NOT OBSERVABLE. This is what Richard Dawkins said: "we are condemned to live for only a few decades and that's too slow, too small a time scale to see evolution going on" so if you don't accept a believe (some religion, no observable facts) how can you accept to believe in something that is not 100% a scientific fact (Evolution theory, no observable facts) ???!!! There is no experimentation or observable data of change of KINDS...NEVER.. there is no solid proof of change of apes to humans (different kinds)...if you find ANY observable change of kinds let me know..then I will say I AM AN IDIOT... but I already know you won't find anything, zero, nada...you can't come with data like birds evolving to another birds or dogs evolving to another dogs...that's NOT change of KINDS but ADAPTASION to it's surroundings. damnnn I cant believe I'm writing a book for this dude....lol I wonder if someone gonna read this lol...but now you guys know a little bit of the very very long story and yeah sorry for my English.
You can have your own beliefs, but you cannot have your own facts. Words mean things. Earth goes round the sun - scientific fact. Evolution - scientific fact.
Watching this just made me realize something that I never really thought of before: What the fuck is the point of beauty pageants, anyway? More specifically, what is the point of the Q&A portion? Are these girls being interviewed for positions in government? No, so who cares about their opinions on anything? We let one former beauty pageant contestant try to become vice-president and she was a train wreck. People watch beauty pageants to look at hot chicks. I don't know why people want to pretend that it's about anything more noble than that.
"I think facts not theory's should be taught." Lmao. Evolution is not a religion or belief! This is why everyone thinks Americans are all idiots. On the plus side, Alaska was gorgeous.
+tforeignguy l true. But it's still upsetting, or rather annoying, when you're in a debate or discussion and the country you live in becomes a symbol of your intellectual level. "You're from the USA, what do you know. Y'all are all idiots." Obviously it's not true, but if watch street IQ questions or even Watters world where he is asking university students elementary questions, you can kind of see where they're coming from. I guess I'm just cocky and wish we were looked at for our intelligence rather than our movie stars and music.
Logical godz You would be called a nuthead anywhere in my country for believing in that... yet many communities in USA actually believe in it... I did not know US had such a problem ;-;
George Rosager You know its a problem when they ask anyone that's running for position in government "what are your thoughts on evolution" that's the stupidest shit i ever heard. Why would that even be a question, asking a question of opinion about a fact? -_-
It's pretty horrific but I think we can rest easy, Miss America contestants fortunately do not represent a healthy cross section of society! And it's not like a beauty contestant could end up running for Vice President or something...oh wait a minute
This is Miss USA not Miss America, they are very different programs and very different people participate in each. Miss USA, the girls in this video, are not judged on any speaking skills aside from the onstage questions. This pageant is generally for women who want to be models, actresses, and the like.
0gracefulgirl0 Let's be honest though, Miss America, Miss USA, Miss World, they are all pretty outdated, archaic, gaudy affairs, rooted in misogynism and pretty insulting to women in general.
Jamie Noel I would say there are aspects of all three that are misogynistic. I don't know much about the Miss USA or Miss World pageants, so I can't speak for them. But from a Miss America standpoint I can say that the pageant has changed dramatically since in first started in the 1920's. What most people don't know is that roughly 75% of your score is composed of the talent and interview portions. The most misogynistic portion, the swiw suit, is one of the smallest total areas and is getting slowly fazed out completely. Really people want to keep it in more out of nostalgia and tradition than actually liking it. Yes they are gaudy and sometimes outdated, but the woman who compete in them want to be gaudy as well as talented and intelligent, not just be praised for prancing around a stage.
Britanny Lichel How in the hell are they not stupid arguments? Most of them think evolution is "just a theory" and some of them believe in fairy tales about creationism. I think it's stupid to fill the minds of children with such nonsense.
R20set I'm not saying that I'm agreeing with them but I thought that they would be saying actual retarded things but they were just voicing their opinion on evolution.
R20set They are trying to answer these questions to win a beauty pageant. Which means they have to be politically correct and look confident in what they are saying. They aren't at a job interview.
I'm an atheist, so to be these answers seems shockingly ignorant as to what evolution really is. Apparently, they either believe it's an opinion of someone or "just a theory", without actually knowing what a scientific theory is. This is a clear failure of the educational system and answers the question perfectly. Should evolution be taught in school? Well, duh! A lot of people don't even know what evolution is, so of course it should be taught in schools. What puzzles me is why are these women asked any questions. This is a beauty contest. Their looks are what matters.
+7dayspking I read that some schools still don't have to teach it? Or that they can only teach it as a theory along with creationism? I don't know, I'm not from America. In fact, I went to Catholic school and we were taught both theories in RE and evolution in science lessons. But they didn't make you believe in creationism, in fact even religious people there said they believe God caused evolution and the Big Bang, and didn't take the Bible literally.
J I live in Australia and also went through the catholic school system.....I learned about Religion in RE/Mass/sometimes religious events in the hall. There were also several highly religious teachers who were very opinionated....but none that I've come across who are actually opposed to evolution...nor any that actually taught creationism.....
7dayspking Yeah, we were taught it as 'oh this is what the Bible says, here's what some Christians believe, what do you guys think?' It was like that for pretty much everything:abortion, euthanasia, gay marriage etc. Overall, pretty relaxed about stuff and we never had any religious teaching during science.
Many of those answers were actually pretty good. Keep in mind they have to think of something on the spot, and try to please everybody, while sounding confident and concise, and smiling the whole time. Some of them totally blew it, but a lot of those were pretty good answers.
Scienceitworks I don't want to argue about semantics. You are right, and I believe it is more important to stress that Evolution is a FACT. "Nearly all biologists acknowledge that evolution is a fact. The term theory is no longer appropriate except when referring to the various models that attempt to explain how life evolves... it is important to understand that the current questions about how life evolves in no way implies any disagreement over the fact of evolution." Neil Campbell. "It is time for students of the evolutionary process, especially those who have been misquoted and used by the creationists, to state clearly that evolution is a fact, not theory." RC Lewontin.
Yes, but nobody questions that gravity also is a fact. Newton's theory of gravity is different than Einstein's theory of gravity, but both acknowledged that there is such a thing as gravity. They just found out different mechanism as how it works. Same for evolution. The point should not be if evolution happened or not. It happened/happens, this we should all know by now. The 'theory' is all about HOW it works. Even here in this 'theory' all the aspects that describe 'evolution' are solid.
Should the theory of Evolution be taught in schools? - Absolutely, in science classes. It's one of, if not the most important theories in Science. Should Creationism be taught in schools? - Absolutely, in religious education classes. It's one of, if not the most important myths of the Abrahamic religions. Should beauty queens be asked such questions? - Absolutely, it shows you can succeed on looks alone. These girls work real hard, & their Momas pay a lot of money to get them looking they way they do. Let them have the 15 minutes, they've earned it. Personally I find them very entertaining. Miss Hawaii is my favourite. "Creatatism" :-)
2:41 "You should be KNOWLEDGED about it." Wow so articulate, I'm shaking under the power of your words. Did you, by any chance, attend a school ever in your life?
Personally I do not believe in math. I think it should be mentioned in schools though. I believe 1+1=5. Everyone should decide for themselves what they believe.
Sadly, this isn't a question for beauty pageant participants. They aren't there because of their intelligence. They're there because of their genetic predisposition for being beautiful, and their ability to use fashion and cosmetology skills to look good.
Amanda Anguish I dont know that what you say is true, or relevant to this post, but ok. Are you attempting to claim that this is the end, as in the rapture or something? Some revelations biblical thing?
Amanda Anguish OK, here is why people think religious people are retarded. You come on MY post and make an extraordinary claim. Then you tell me to go find proof for YOUR assertion. You post proof, I will look at it, determine if it is legitimate proof or not, and then we can go from there. If you have posted proof, please tag me in it. Since you post a bunch of magical fairy shit, I have you set to not see most of your shit. That said: I believe the disaster I think you are referring to might be a bigger deal than we are being told, but at the moment there is probably not much that can be done and starting people panicking will not make the situation better.
We dumped way more radiation into the atmosphere with Chernobyl and all the thousands of above ground nuclear tests that went on for decades. The Earth has always fought back and always won against it. Yes there will be long-lasting effects, Amanda Anguish but fear mongering will never go away. And I know what I said is true because I won my church's Miss Piggy Pageant in 1978.
OMG, I just realized that these are Adults! This is the Miss USA pageant, I thought it was the Miss Teen USA pageant! This makes it even worse, that only one, Miss Minnesota, gave an intelligent answer.
I'm from Germany and all my friends dyed laughing when they heard evolution is not thaught in school. The actually think it's ridiculous that people think evolution doesn't exist.
To be fair though, we get thaught bothe sides in Germany. Evolution in the science classes but we also have a subjects called religion, where they teach you about (well) religions.
QuiteTheBadWulf Yes, I forgot that... But they say it's what the religion says, not that there's a single proof. In the end, nobody believes in the creation, but everybody trusts sciences, ergo the evolution.
ARE YOU KIDDING ME IT IS ACTUALLY NOT THOUGHT IN SCHOOLS?! XDDDD I thought this was just a question made so we could laugh at these girl, (it's an actually question? wow such amaze wow) LMFAO
Saying "fact, not theory should be taught" is pretty stupid. I mean things like the theory of plate tectonics are taught in school because it explains a lot and is more than likely to be true, even though it can't be proven with 100% certainty. Theories are, and should be taught in school depending on the amount of evidence present. Evolution has a lot of evidence and should be taught.
This video is exactly why evolution should be taught in school. It is not an opinion, it is not "just" a theory. It is a fact and the only framework in which modern biology makes sense.
i think their answers are kind of shit, but at the same time i understand because when you think about it, its the miss usa pageant and a large percentage of the people who watch these pageants are christian americans (or just american citizens who believe in creationism over evolution) and these contestants (if they hope to win) should be providing the answers that will appeal to their mainstream audience the most
Yeah. You can't take these answers seriously, they're in a competition based (at least in part) on popularity and likability, hence why so many don't really take a stand on the issue and give answers that are just designed to please everybody.
I find it weird that you touch the subject. Here in Mexico, a third world country. Evolution is taught in schools. Religions in general do not have a say on what kids should be exposed to at school. Our education system is completely secular. People are religious, but all Politicians cannot say the word God, or talk about any religion at all. We think we should be practical. Funny that in the US, a country that has so many good universities where hard science is taught, cannot define what kids should learn at school. As I understand, in most of the countries of the world, Evolution is taught.
I was taught in a religious school, but I was also taught about evolution and the biblical creation theory equally and respectively. Neither class mocked the other or claimed their theories were right, but simply gave the information to the children (10-12 yr olds) and allowed them the opportunity discover their own beliefs. I still have a lot of respect for my primary school. _(Just to be clear, I believe in evolution 100%)_
What I find most IDIOTIC about these answers is that the question doesn't say, "Should kids HAVE to learn about evolution." It says that evolution be taught IN GENERAL. In other words, should we give the CHOICE to learn it. These women basically say science should be BANNED from school. This goes against every principle of learning.
These are the same people who said that maths should not be taught, yet when evolution comes in the question they suddenly got a lot more support. Religion is a hindrance. Wake up.
The 1:30 girl doesn't know how science works... Science is proven and agreed on by the scientific community. There are many different interpretations on religion, not science.
tacomanfan344 People are still allowed to have their own opinions. There were a few girls that said it should be taught in schools, they just don't believe in it. Yes, we can consider them uneducated but that doesn't make them bad answers. You can't call a response bad just because we feel they are misinformed. As other's have mentioned there is now doubt to specific mechanisms about evolution that we blindly accepted before. Don't be rude.
It's a mystery to me why someone came up the idea to even pose these kinds of questions to potential Miss Americas. It strikes me as being as idiotic as asking: "What do you think, is Rome the best capital city in the world? Now let's hear from a bunch of people who've never been there".
i don t get the meaning of your post... EVERYONE knows what evolution is so EVERYONEcan have an opinion (stupid or not) about if its ok to teach it at school
grey hound Actually in my experience a lot of people don't know what evolution is, and if you want examples of that you are free to rewatch the video above. By the answers given you'd think that evolution was simply a belief and not a scientific fact, and the first girl even starts talking about the evolution of communities, which means she didn't even understand that the question was about biological evolution.
damillionmalania i don t get your point... so because there some idiots that don t know shit it s unfair to ask an opinion about a subject that everyone is supposed to know?
grey hound Well, no. I suppose I might have been a bit unclear about what I meant. What I mean is this: why would you care what Miss America thinks about the topic of evolution? By contrast, at a school I used to work some of the teachers walked out during a presentation on evolution by a biologist because it interfered with their faith. When teachers walk out in front of their students, I get that it matters. If the future president of the United States says he believes mexicans are rapists, I get that it matters. If a priest says the church needs to incorporate a shrine facing Mekka out of respect for the muslim faith (which actually happened in my country of birth, by the way) I get that it matters. But why should I care about the deluded opinion of anyone simply because they're competing to become Miss America? Or indeed, why should anyone listen to people who hold baseless, uneducated opinions and who are completely unqualified to discuss the questions they are given? Would you not rather pose this question to the presidential candidates, the education board of Texas or the National Academy of Sciences, because what opinion they have on the subject at least matters?
I'm an atheist and I'd have to agree on most of their answers. Kids should decide for themselves what they believe. I wouldn't have had a problem being in a bible class just the same as a science class. But the end result would make me atheist. And probably most people as well.
There is no believing in Evolution or natural selection. You can believe in Creationism if you so desire, although every logically thinking being would laugh at you for it, but you simply do not believe in Evolution: You know it.
BoarhideGaming I do believe in the theory of evolution. It makes a lot more logical sense than creationism. With all the evidence of bones and fossils, the bible looks pretty dumb.
Lets look at the facts here. These young ladies are beauty queens who's main focus is on their artificial appearances, not their intellectual capacity. Instead of wasting countless hours of their day preening themselves at the beauty salon, they should be reading more books other than the bible at a library.
Actually, it is much like getting votes in politics, and being an atheist, or evolutionist isn't getting you elected these days. Not yet anyway. It is much like when JFK was considered unelectable for being Catholic at the time, now considered absurd. Their is a status quo in society that even the most ardent libertarians and free thinkers feel compelled to keep just from our upbringing. Until we can shed all prejudice and bias in ourselves we will always be slaves to these shallow beliefs.
A much more complex and mind opening theory , than evolution. God is something that is more free and honestly more complicated than any of the simple theories of thinking inside the box. There is a whole universe out there
Lauren Rodriguez science and common sense proves god doesn't exist for example who created god,and if he does exist why has no one ever see heaven in a telescope, and why doesn't heaven fall from the sky
I am Christian. I believe God created me with a purpose but I do NOT think science conflicts with that. I do think evolution is an important FACTUAL topic to be taught in schools. Why is this a tough question? It's just stupid. And biblical stuff should not be taught in schools (unless they are private and religiously affiliated) because THE US SEPARATES CHURCH AND STATE. Public schools should not tech creationism because it is a belief of some christians based on how they interpret the Bible so it has no standing in a governmental system (aka public schools).
That is actually a very stupid question to ask contestants in a beauty contest. But, not surprising, since a very large percentage of Americans appear think the earth is only 6,000 years old, that people lived with dinosaurs, and global warming is a lie. In fact I would not be surprised to find that many Americans also think the Earth is flat and that the Sun revolves around the Earth.
Better than the idiots who agree with Evolution and want to establish Communism as the system of government in America. The media is why people agree with Evolution. Promoting a one sided slant ever since the 1930s. If we keep going the same direction with Communism then 80 years from now, people will start calling Capitalism crazy.
+IceBlueBeard How is the last one not a good answer? It would be bad if you were in a job interview, but she's actually just trying to win the public. Direct answers like "I believe in evolution" or "I don't believe in it" just divides the public, so answers like "It should be taught and It's not against religion" wins most votes. It just pisses off the extremes that either think people are not entitled to have opinions (even though that's exactly what made us evolve as a community), or people who believes in the bible literally.
The fact that some of these girls were saying it shouldn't be taught because it would offend somebody made me nauseated. It also frightened me how many of these women proudly claimed they, "didn't believe in evolution". Evolution isn't even something you believe in; it is something that you understand, and agree with because there is evidence to back it up.
Maybe we should all choose our own opinions about chemical and mathematical formulas as well. If you think 2+2=7, then that's just great! We should encourage all opinions and beliefs even if they are whack-a-doodle!
+Jo ha How is it a good answer? She says that there are so many definitions of it, when there aren't. She's ignorant. As biology is taught in schools, evolution must be taught in schools, as it is the BASIS for ALL biology. You don't need to teach anything technical away from Universities etc, just the basics.
She's confusing different definitions of creationism among different cultures/religions with different definitions of the basic idea behind evolution. In the first case (creationism), you are debating whether a creation story or a certain of God or Gods is the correct one. Usually, people are basing which is correct based either on how they were raised or which religion aligns with the philosophical and political views. In other words, it's un-proveable and subjective, unless the deity or deities choose to openly reveal itself/themselves, which oddly it/they never seem to do. One thing every deity seems to have in common is an unwillingness or inability to prove they exist. In the second case (evolution), you have differing interpretations of observable date which are based on scientifically measurable factors using scientific methods. These factors and methods are based on previous discoveries that are agreed upon the world over which the theory of evolution is building and expanding upon. Science and math should be the same the world over, and presumably for all intelligent life anywhere in the universe.
Its amazing {and revealing) how many of them talk about evolution that is something has not been taught in schools. Either they skipped a lot of classes or the education system in the US is failing and is far worse than I imagined.
Evolution is a theory. A very well studied, well proven theory that most highly educated people should and do agree with. Gravity is a theory, you don't see anyone saying it doesn't exist.
You can call these the top worst answers if you wish, but there are many scientist, including evolutionist themselves who are now refuting the same "modern evolutionary synthesis" (also referred to as the neo Darwinian synthesis) which unfortunately is still being taught in schools as an unquestionable axiom. Again I repeat, the modern synthesis is the accepted theory of evolution, and again, it is now being soundly refuted by 21st century science. And these findings have been made explicit in the current science literature. Will we someday have a real and cohesive theory? Who knows? Some believe so, while others are not so optimistic. But one thing is certain. In spite of all the grandstanding, as of yet, we still do not have a cohesive or valid theoretical framework for evolutionary biology at the present.
"Soundly refuted"? By whom? The Discovery Institute? BWAHAHA! By "many scientist" do you mean Michael Behe and other DI cronies? Behe is the only scientist-proponent of ID and he's an embarrassment to the scientists who didn't sell out to big money. By "we do not have a cohesive or valid theoretical framework for evolutionary biology," I'm assuming you mean people who did not go to school and learn, but instead get their (mis)information from their clergy and people of faith. Read Barbara Forrest's in-depth analysis of this whole debacle and see if you still feel the same way. Read from ANY scientist in the field of molecular biology (or biology in general) and you will see that intelligent design is a fraud...Behe is an exception, not the norm. Better yet, take a course on biology and day one, class one will debunk the entire belief that ID is real science.
Make-Make Yes, there are Intelligent Design scientist who refute the "modern evolutionary synthesis" as well, and Behe is just one of many. But I never even mentioned any of them, nor did I ever mention the Discovery Institute. You should have taken the time to read a little more carefully to what I actually said. The scientific refutation I speak of is coming from non ID, non religious experts in the field of "evolutionary development biology" But since you did bring up the subject of Intelligent Design. Keep in mind, it was ID theorist who accurately predicted (not just the demise of the junk DNA paradigm which as also been thoroughly refuted by modern science) but of the same modern evolutionary synthesis I speak of. And I can back up everything I said concerning my first post, without even citing one paper from ID theorist.
Arvind Raj My second point was about the demise of the junk DNA paradigm, as accurately prediction by ID theorist. And I'll be happy to oblige you. But first, let me back up what I said about the the demise of the "modern evolutionary synthesis" based on current 21st century data. The new biology: beyond the Modern Synthesis Michael R Rose1* and Todd H Oakley2 The last third of the 20th Century featured an accumulation of research findings that severely challenged the assumptions of the "Modern Synthesis" which provided the foundations for most biological research during that century. The foundations of that "Modernist" biology had thus largely crumbled by the start of the 21st Century. This in turn raises the question of foundations for biology in the 21st Century. Beyond neo-Darwinism-an epigenetic approach to evolution M.W. Ho "We argue that the basic neo-Darwinian framework-the natural selection of random mutations-is insufficient to account for evolution. The role of natural selection is itself limited: it cannot adequately explain the diversity of populations or of species; nor can it account for the origin of new species or for major evolutionary change....." The Origin at 150: is a new evolutionary synthesis in sight? Eugene V. Koonin Abstract The 200th anniversary of Darwin and the 150th jubilee of the Origin of Species prompt a new look at evolutionary biology. The 1959 Origin centennial was marked by the consolidation of the Modern Synthesis. The edifice of the Modern Synthesis has crumbled, apparently, beyond repair" Soft inheritance: challenging the modern synthesis Eva JablonkaI; Marion J. LambII ….In view of the data that support soft inheritance, as well as other challenges to the Modern Synthesis, it is concluded that that synthesis no longer offers a satisfactory theoretical framework for evolutionary biology.
This is referred to as "quote mining" or "fallacy of quoting out of context." Simply because one aspect of the modern synthesis needs revision does not mean evolution is a theory in crisis, just as Einstein's theory of relativity did not mean Newton's theory of gravitation was wrong. Refining a theory just makes it clearer--it doesn't break the theory apart and mean it is wrong. At all. Creationists love to use revisions to theories as proof that evolution as a theory is bunk. That gets on my nerves. For example, I read Koonin's paper and saw nothing about evolution as a theory in crisis; rather, he wrote of a new vision for post-modern synthesis and made it sound as though the theory of evolution is being strengthened. Were you relying on people to not read the papers? And going back to your original comment: "will we someday have a real and cohesive theory?" The question itself implies that there are debatable choices, but the answer remains: evolution is a real and cohesive theory. At least you didn't quote Behe...for that, props.
hey calm down this is only one country we haven't asked the rest of the country's yet we might still have a chance LOL probably not though humans are mentally challenged by logic and are extremely flawed LOL
Actually these all mostly great answers. Evolution is not an exact science, and the whole subject is too controversial to be taught in middle or high school. It should be available in college for those who are specifically interested in it. Young children and teens should not be dragged into the debate.
Okay boys and girls let's continue with our Earth science studies wherein we've already discussed the ultra-modern and still controversial theory that the planet is approximately spherical, moves through space at tremendous speed completely unsupported, and is a staggering number of years old. However today we'll begin exploring the divinely revealed traditional and therefore vastly more plausible notion that it is a flat circle with four corners, is motionless in space, either rests on a supported foundation or just hangs there, is covered by a solid water-filled canopy wherein are many windows, and is merely several thousand years old. In this way as you get older you can decide which to believe.
Did you believe EVERYTHING they told you in school? Sure seems like it. Think for yourself man!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Don't believe every word that comes out of a pointy headed professors mouth. They have been proven wrong on many things.
muggymug That pointy headed professor, assuming his/her field of study is one of the natural sciences, has at the very least earned my respect for achievement in learning. Assuming this respect is shared by his peers then because I haven't yet achieved the same level of learning, then it behooves me to tread cautiously before I grandiloquently dismiss his expert opinions out of hand. In short, I better have the evidence firmly on my side before I speak out of turn and reveal my ignorance. I find your comment to be a bit too cocksure.
kotosqopos -Alaska: evolution is a fact thats why it's dumb to not believe in it. -Washington: she doesnt know what a scientific theory is. It's starts as a theory but its backed up with an overwhelming amount of evidence/proof to the point where it is crazy to deny it. There is no higher title than theory in science. -Tennessee: again, evolution isnt just an idea. It's proven.
all treat the theory of evolution as if it was even debatable science. it isn't. would you debate the theory of flight? the theory of gravity? the simple answer her is that there is a lack of understanding what constitutes scientific theory from another definition of 'theory'. they just do not 'get it'. very shameful.
It was so painful to watch. These contestants were struggling to be PC and stick to their own narrowed viewpoint of the world. What you get is a messed up hardcore Biblical interpretation of the theory of everything is relative, and there's no truth except your own (which is their personal belief in that such as evolution does not exist, and even if it did, it would be too much to think about).
So there is actually a debate in the Usa about evolution being taught in schools??way to go america..
I know, right? Oh my dog...
there's no "debate". There's idiots who think they can shove their bullshit religion down everyone's throat and the rest of us are saying, "Bugger off"
ceciliaFX I agree. I can't believe people shove the religion of evolution down people's throats.
whydoucare evolution is based entirely of facts and evidence.
I agree. It's almost like asking them if division should be taught in schools. Well of course it should. Same with evolution.

+Barnaby Weatherall WHAT!!!!!!!!!!
+Sharon Newman why? Because she said she's a Catholic? This just comes across as more of a "Lol I don't like Christians" as opposed to highlighting peoples ignorance.
bloodmercs thank you, that's exactly what I was thinking
+Barnaby Weatherall it's still a bad answer because she endorses evolution BECAUSE her church endorses it, not because she's educated enough to know it's based on scientific evidence.
Odysseus that's not what she is saying. She is just justifying it by saying that catholicism agrees with evolution

Also, why is it that kids are allowed to "make up their own minds" when it comes to evolution? We don't talk that way about anything else in school.
"Billy, what's 5 times 9?
"12."
"Wrong, the correct answer is 45."
"Hold on, teacher.

Forget theory of evolution - simply teaching what a SCIENTIFIC THEORY is would be a great first step. I'm 30 and still encounter people who have problems understanding the term.
I am 26 and I haven't met many people who were aware of difference between terms "theory" as used in common language and "scientific theory".
Thumbs up to you. There is a word that helps explain why Americans are falling behind is the science fields. Religion
The first few weren't bad, they were just considering how people have a choice bc of religion
1st one doesnt answer the question at all.
2nd one thinks theory means hypothesis.
3rd one thinks there are 'so many different views' about evolution.
4th one says she doesnt 'believe' in evolution, its nothing to believe in though, since its a fact.
5th one just says no, cause she doenst believe in it, like nr.4

Yeah. Absolutely. There were a couple of them who outright said it should be taught. I don't think either of them won.

Not all evidences can be explained by science though.
That was my point.
i think they wouldn't have a chance of winning but yes is the right answer

They are people you choose to represent your state. Besides, they are not the only people from USA with such views. There are millions of comments of that type here on youtube.
It's because this country is so religious. Particularly the Southern region known as the Bible belt. It's insane.
wieslawl59 Obviously they aren't the only people with the same views. But to act like they're even elected officials is just a stupid assumption. These contestants are chosen by a very small group of judges to represent their state, and they're chosen to represent the most BEAUTIFUL people in the state, not the most educated or the most qualified to discuss/explain evolutionary theory or education reform.
encycl07pedia
Dude, being beautiful does not make you free from the obligation to think about important things and things which are important for society, and to educate yourself. Thinking about which nail polish is the best is not enough anymore. If the judges do not require at least minumum level of basic knowledge and showing some thinking activity, it tells also something about the society. Real beauty is supposed to come from inside. If the inside is empty, then there is no beauty in it.
"we're smarter than ever these days" ..well this video just disproved that statement.

The vast majority of scientists accept evolution as fact.
yeowart *****
Why is it a FACT (according to you) if some scientists believe it is..but NOTHING (according to you) if some scientists don't agree with it ?? that's what you say, am I correct?
This is what Richard Dawkins said:
"we are condemned to live for only a few decades and that's too slow, too small a time scale to see evolution going on"
so if you don't accept a believe (some religion, no observable facts) how can you accept to believe in something that is not 100% a scientific fact (Evolution theory, no observable facts) ???!!!

These aren't that bad. They're not stupid arguments.
Totally agree
Britanny Lichel How in the hell are they not stupid arguments? Most of them think evolution is "just a theory" and some of them believe in fairy tales about creationism. I think it's stupid to fill the minds of children with such nonsense.
R20set I'm not saying that I'm agreeing with them but I thought that they would be saying actual retarded things but they were just voicing their opinion on evolution.
R20set
They are trying to answer these questions to win a beauty pageant. Which means they have to be politically correct and look confident in what they are saying.
They aren't at a job interview.
+Britanny Lichel What most of them said is actually retarded, but hey, what do you expect from a miss USA contest.
This is hilarious! I love it. 'You should be knowledged about it...' lol
All of the people here who didn't even realize it's already taught.....
J Fair enough and similar experience here. Are you Australian?
7dayspking No, English.
Many of those answers were actually pretty good.
Keep in mind they have to think of something on the spot, and try to please everybody, while sounding confident and concise, and smiling the whole time.
Some of them totally blew it, but a lot of those were pretty good answers.
Evolution is not just a theory.
Evolution is a fact.
Evolution IS a theory, the issue comes when the person saying that doesn't realize that a "scientific theory" is also FACT
Scienceitworks
I don't want to argue about semantics.
Cinqmil
Well Gravity is also "just" a theory.
Cinqmil
I have no problem with evolution. I was just showing that there are a few things out there which are "just" theories but are undeniably true.
The word "theory" has a different meaning in a scientific context.
Understanding this is one of their stumbling blocks...
I love how all these girls effectively took as many large words as they could and strung them together to try and make a cognitive argument.
We're doomed. We're fucking doomed.
Sadly, this isn't a question for beauty pageant participants. They aren't there because of their intelligence. They're there because of their genetic predisposition for being beautiful, and their ability to use fashion and cosmetology skills to look good.
There is a special place in hell for men like you.
Dear Miss Missouri, I totally agree, let's spend time in Math class teaching Algebra and Number Divination as we need to "be open to all ideas."
Truly a sad moment for humanity.
Amanda Anguish Could you elaborate, I dont understand what you are trying to say???
Amanda Anguish I dont know that what you say is true, or relevant to this post, but ok.
Are you attempting to claim that this is the end, as in the rapture or something? Some revelations biblical thing?
What does this have to do with my post?
Amanda Anguish
OK, here is why people think religious people are retarded.
The first few weren't bad, but some were just uh, no
Abigail Barrera Yep.
Some of them were okay
I think Ms. Washington is the most hilarious, talking about how she wants religion to be taught but says "People's theories shouldn't be taught"
*died
To be fair though, we get thaught bothe sides in Germany. Evolution in the science classes but we also have a subjects called religion, where they teach you about (well) religions.
to true
QuiteTheBadWulf Yes, I forgot that... But they say it's what the religion says, not that there's a single proof. In the end, nobody believes in the creation, but everybody trusts sciences, ergo the evolution.
ARE YOU KIDDING ME IT IS ACTUALLY NOT THOUGHT IN SCHOOLS?! XDDDD I thought this was just a question made so we could laugh at these girl, (it's an actually question? wow such amaze wow) LMFAO
I wish most people knew the difference between evolution and natural selection. Though, some of these answers weren't THAT bad.
Rebecca Wolf I think it goes both ways.
Evolution has a lot of evidence and should be taught.
can you give one evidence of evolution?
TheNosdivad Yes
TheNosdivad idiot
Hartcore11 well? you want me to tell you to go a head? hmm!
Actually, I was gonna say for you to provide evidence for creation first. That means I'd never hear from you again.
Please stop the cussing.
The best bit is their constant reference to "belief systems".
Yeah they have no idea why biologists think we evolved from a common ancestor or even what a theory is
Title doesn't even make sense. Some of them just acknowledged it as a tough question and the last one said that she accepts it and is religious.
This actually wasn't as bad as i thought it was going to be..
Dragonaut111 Could it be even worse?
Daniel Manzano look for the "Should math be tought at schools" :S
Daniel Manzano Taught*
Arturo García That's a parody, it's meant to be worse on purpose.
Wake up.
"Creation-a-tism"... Never heard of that one before.
At least the one from Minnesota has some brains. The others are lost causes.
Well at least they're pretty, right?
Who would not want to propagate the species with one of them?
The 1:30 girl doesn't know how science works... Science is proven and agreed on by the scientific community. There are many different interpretations on religion, not science.
Is that profile picture Homestuck?
BillDoesStuffSometimes It's in homestuck yes, but its just the zodiac sign for cancer. All the trolls have one of the 12 zodiac signs on there shirts.
My brain is slowly rotting as I continue to watch this video
2:40 "It shouldn't be pushed on you, but you should be 'knowledged' about it" 😂😂
mira taylor what is funny there ?
a lot of these were good answers
Wow... Case closed.
you just completely embarrassed yourself
tacomanfan344 People are still allowed to have their own opinions. Don't be rude.
diplomatsdaughter If I say 2 + 2 = 8, would you consider that a bad answer or that I'm allowed to have my own opinion?
Stay in school
It's a mystery to me why someone came up the idea to even pose these kinds of questions to potential Miss Americas. It strikes me as being as idiotic as asking: "What do you think, is Rome the best capital city in the world? Now let's hear from a bunch of people who've never been there".
i don t get the meaning of your post...
EVERYONE knows what evolution is
so EVERYONEcan have an opinion (stupid or not) about if its ok to teach it at school
grey hound Actually in my experience a lot of people don't know what evolution is, and if you want examples of that you are free to rewatch the video above. By the answers given you'd think that evolution was simply a belief and not a scientific fact, and the first girl even starts talking about the evolution of communities, which means she didn't even understand that the question was about biological evolution.
damillionmalania
i don t get your point...
so because there some idiots that don t know shit it s unfair to ask an opinion about a subject that everyone is supposed to know?
grey hound Well, no.
Well, it seems to have sparked a reaction anyway, right? So in some way or form people care.
With all the evidence of bones and fossils, the bible looks pretty dumb.
evolution is a FACT . there is no choosing , do people get the option of believing whether or not
the earth is round ?
WHITEPHOENIX OFTHECROWN unfortunately they do.
BoarhideGaming Evolution is the biggest lie lol
Does anybody realize the idea of god is a theory
It's not a theory. It's a hypothesis. Learn the difference.
***** I know but the people on the video said that you shouldn't believe in a theory, and they probably don't even know what a hypothesis is.
No the god thing is myth
Egocentricity is an American pastime, I think :O
Better than the idiots who agree with Evolution and want to establish Communism as the system of government in America. The media is why people agree with Evolution. Promoting a one sided slant ever since the 1930s. If we keep going the same direction with Communism then 80 years from now, people will start calling Capitalism crazy.
some of them werent that bad, but most of them im pretty sure are oxygeyn deprived
Rosalyn Ewen *oxygen
Lici MS oh lol yeah, that was an accident. thanks for correcting me though.
Some of these are actually really good answers
+SpartaNXGaming Yes if you are a moron.
Regardless of what they're saying, Idaho and Hawaii were the most beautiful for me. Followed by Kentucky and Tenessee.
0:58 is an excellent answer imo. Probably the best argument you can have as a No answer
+Jo ha Do you mean the part before or after she said evolution shouldn't be taught in schools?
+Jo ha *sips coffee*
Too many people still view evolution as "just a theory"
"u shud be knowldgegd about it."
Its amazing {and revealing) how many of them talk about evolution that is something has not been taught in schools.
Either they skipped a lot of classes or the education system in the US is failing and is far worse than I imagined.
its not worst answers at all, they all made their own point.
Evolution is a theory. A very well studied, well proven theory that most highly educated people should and do agree with. Gravity is a theory, you don't see anyone saying it doesn't exist.
Do they know what evolution means?
No
You can call these the top worst answers if you wish, but there are many scientist, including evolutionist themselves who are now refuting the same "modern evolutionary synthesis" (also referred to as the neo Darwinian synthesis) which unfortunately is still being taught in schools as an unquestionable axiom.
And I can back up everything I said concerning my first post, without even citing one paper from ID theorist.
benthemiester Okay then.Back up everything you said. Not just first post, but also the second post as well.
Arvind Raj
My second point was about the demise of the junk DNA paradigm, as accurately prediction by ID theorist. And I'll be happy to oblige you. But first, let me back up what I said about the the demise of the "modern evolutionary synthesis" based on current 21st century data.
The new biology: beyond the Modern Synthesis
Michael R Rose1* and Todd H Oakley2
The last third of the 20th Century featured an accumulation of research findings that severely challenged the assumptions of the "Modern Synthesis" which provided the foundations for most biological research during that century. The foundations of that "Modernist" biology had thus largely crumbled by the start of the 21st Century. This in turn raises the question of foundations for biology in the 21st Century.
Beyond neo-Darwinism-an epigenetic approach to evolution
M.W. Ho
"We argue that the basic neo-Darwinian framework-the natural selection of random mutations-is insufficient to account for evolution. The role of natural selection is itself limited: it cannot adequately explain the diversity of populations or of species; nor can it account for the origin of new species or for major evolutionary change....."
The Origin at 150: is a new evolutionary synthesis in sight?
Eugene V. Koonin
Abstract
The 200th anniversary of Darwin and the 150th jubilee of the Origin of Species prompt a new look at evolutionary biology. The 1959 Origin centennial was marked by the consolidation of the Modern Synthesis. The edifice of the Modern Synthesis has crumbled, apparently, beyond repair"
Soft inheritance: challenging the modern synthesis
Eva JablonkaI; Marion J. LambII
….In view of the data that support soft inheritance, as well as other challenges to the Modern Synthesis, it is concluded that that synthesis no longer offers a satisfactory theoretical framework for evolutionary biology.
At least you didn't quote Behe...for that, props.
almost ended my life watching this. I didn't, but I have lost faith in humanity
hey calm down this is only one country we haven't asked the rest of the country's yet we might still have a chance LOL probably not though humans are mentally challenged by logic and are extremely flawed LOL
David Cameron not everyone denies evolution. I believe there is a God but things do evolve
Actually these all mostly great answers. Evolution is not an exact science, and the whole subject is too controversial to be taught in middle or high school. It should be available in college for those who are specifically interested in it. Young children and teens should not be dragged into the debate.
It's not a debate. Evolution exists, and even then it's not particularly complicated. Evolution is arguably better understood than gravity
I guess we shouldn't teach the Three Laws of Motion in school.
Lol Brilliant!!!
The last answer was not bad.
Washington, Alaska and Tennessee also gave very good answers.
In fact, many of them were surprisingly good with bases.
kotosqopos
-Alaska: evolution is a fact thats why it's dumb to not believe in it.
Meanwhile, in the Holy Islamic Curriculum of Iran, evolution is taught from grade 5.
Kia Hampton (miss Kentucky) perfectly explained why religion shouldn't be taught in school
Yes let's teach them that it is a theory. Definition of theory: a well documented, well observed event.
beauty fades. stupid is forever
Gawd yes
*First sentence of ms. Kentucky*
Me: Wow, I’m surprised. That’s great.
*Second sentence of ms. Kentucky*
Me: Wow, never mind....
What was bad about these answers
Some of them were bad but not all
I agree I am still watching but most are fine
I agree I am still watching but most are fine
Listen to Nevadas answer..again..
all treat the theory of evolution as if it was even debatable science. it isn't. would you debate the theory of flight? the theory of gravity?
the simple answer her is that there is a lack of understanding what constitutes scientific theory from another definition of 'theory'. they just do not 'get it'. very shameful.
Did anyone tell these people that the truth does not give a crap what we think?
Thats what happens when u ask women about evolution when their brain capacity has only evolved to answer questions related to kitchen :D hahaha
Ahaaaaaa

Lol hope you don't procreate and pass on your shitty genetic material!
Wow!! Well your a nice person aren't you?

It was so painful to watch. These contestants were struggling to be PC and stick to their own narrowed viewpoint of the world. What you get is a messed up hardcore Biblical interpretation of the theory of everything is relative, and there's no truth except your own (which is their personal belief in that such as evolution does not exist, and even if it did, it would be too much to think about).
