Cheap Camp Awning on the Jeep Is it Garbage???

Time to add some accessories to the Jeep Cherokee roof rack starting with the side awning. Chose to run the Yescom 6.5x8.5 awning. It's half the price of larger name brand units but seems to be just as good. Super easy to install and so far so good. Very strong unit I hit my garage door frame and it broke the frame awning is fine...

I just ordered and received that awning that I paid on Amazon 160 bucks, I noticed that around the Velcro and I used sail tape. We’ll see how that works.

I wanted to see if the awning would fit my xj not knowing about the one in the video. Now I definitely know it'll fit. Oh yeah and cool xj by the way!

Thanks!! I don't use my awning as much as I would like to, but when I do I really enjoy it. I've seen longer ones but I try and keep things proportional to size of jeep. The huge wrap arounds wont work cause the rear hatch goes up to high. This and most awnings have basic mounting hardware so you might need to be creative on how it attaches.

do you think using ubolts to secure the brackets to the crossbars would work.. I really dont want to drill holes into my crossbars.

It might work but I'd be worried the brackets might slip out from under the ubolts.

Honestly it appears to be made very similar to other brands with a few minor differences. I can't say for certain it would fit but it would surprise me if it didn't fit it. I carry light weight rain flys, clamps and tent steaks if I need to close mine in. Multi purpose items.

So far it's been a great deal. Strong unit holds up well. I've hit my garage door twice not paying attention. Bent the door but awning is fine.

Uh so we are just supposed to have a roof rack with two holes drilled in the perfect spot? 😂

He mentioned in the video before painting and installation of awning he lined up the brackets and drilled them before painting it. Yuh Good thing you watched the video right?
