I don't understand why you'd compare a KAC to match rifles. The KAC is meant for combat, not punching holes in paper. It's also not even remotely close to being overgassed, especially when compared to every other fighting rifle on the market (i.e. the HK416 or DDm4). It's like trying to compare an M1 Abrams to a Ferrari.
I’d love to have one but for what people are asking for them I’ll just buy 2 bcm’s or lwrc’s. Awesome rifle but scalpers have ruined getting one. Even the gun shops near me can’t get one.
It's gunbroker that's the problem... dealers are buying up all the stock (4 5 6 rifles at a time) and tossing them on the auction page and letting the out of stock drive up crazy bids from folks who have been looking. The b*tch is dealers aren't posting as the itmes available at their shop either. Just keeping it as funbroker sales only... its almost criminal imo
Don’t know if you are aware but you have to remove the stock to remove the tubes and twist inward to pull the tubes clockwise on the left and counter on the right they are tight but after a couple times they are a little easier to remove

KACs are like Glocks. They will save your life lol some guys have ran 20,000 rounds through the SR-15 without cleaning it. Garand Thumb has a great video on it.
Kac are traditionally under gassed for most non mil-spec ammo. It's made to shoot M193, M855, Black Hills, etc. Which are all hotter than most commercial ammo. If it's shooting 5 o'clock, then that means that it is way undergassed for what you were shooting. I'd try some real 556 and see how it shoots. Kac rifles are known to like that stuff the best
They shoot MUCH better suppressed. You can swap the muzzle device for a surefire one and use an RC2. Or a lot of folks like the HUXWRX flow suppressor. Also make sure you’re using good ammo. The SR-15 is meant to run milspec full power ammo. With that said, it’s not an Gucci match rifle. It’ll shoot sub MOA with good ammo but mainly it’s meant to be ridiculously tough and reliable.

They are known to have slop between the upper and the lower. The Q Honeybadger also. I have wanted a KAC SR 25 .308 for a long time. Luckily SIG has the Rattlers and the SPEAR.
I think both of you have good points. Good Competition and fighting rifles share many of the same qualities but once you start veering towards either end of the spectrum there are deviations. You can’t have one that’s excellent at both
Id definitely say you've got to look a bit deeper than some other competition type ar platforms. An inexperienced shooter probably wouldn't notice much of a difference. But you've gotta pay for the "bulletproof" reliability and toughness...

I own a KAC mod2 you stated over gassed. Hmmm thats a first, 3-5oc position is gassed properly. What was the ejection pattern.

Lol you have to take the stock off the receiver extension to access the storage tube, the cams on the cap hit the tube when it’s installed.
