I find it funny that about half the emblem characters in this you would have no way to play their games thanks to Nintendo’s poor job of making them accessible.
For anyone who doesn’t know, this Fire Emblem was developed by the same team who made Atlier Ryza, not the Dynasty Warriors team that made Three Houses and Three Hopes.
Okay, barring having to bear with the worst team members and clunky exposition for the opening chapters, and a lack of variety for the main chapter BGM (besides Chapters 10, 11, 17, 25 and the Final Boss Theme, the latter of which is among the best in the series), I think it's safe to say that Fate/Engage is a brilliant love letter to everything that came before it. Just don't take this seriously, since I think that Star Wars: The Phantom Menace is peak cinema.

You mean that game where you got to use the teenage versions of support branches you had, not because they came from the future, but because they have some magical realm where time flows differently? Get a grip mate, they stopped being as serious after Radiant. Engage is the closest FE has been to Awakening's quality. Has Fates and Houses hubworld issues but they're not as awful, and are more streamlined.

My husband and I bought the game and then after a week or so sold it. We had no connection to many emblems cause the games aren’t in the states and it felt like we where just fighting with no story that was worth it since we guessed it within the first gameplay

There are too many open world games right now that it’s sickening. Though, I am curious what the devs would come up for an open world Fire Emblem game. Best one for me so far is 3Houses, not a fan of turn-based RPG but the story, emotional attachment to characters, char development, being able to change endings with your choices are what make it really enjoyable and superior to any FE game so far IMO also, Byleth is just top-tier MC

Well if u only play on Switch then u wouldn’t notice it but I play in different platforms and open world is getting overly used with games copying some mechanisms from one open world game to another. If they decide to go for open world game, they have to offer something very different. Me, writing this comment is already a proof that it’s risky to change the style of the game as they might lose players that actually like the game how it is at status quo. I am not a fan of turn based RPG as well but FE is one of those turn based RPG I do enjoy a lot just like Divinity Original Sin 2. I am not so keen to demand an open world version of FE but I am curious as well what the devs can come up with if that should happen. At this point, it’s just too risky to make an open world version especially with BOTW on Switch. I guess for a long time we’ll just be seeing BOTW as Nintendo’s offer for an open world game and FE for a linear or non-open world experience.
