  • Our journey in this video leads us up a winding mountain trail that straddles a cliff with a 500 foot vertical drop to a dry creek bed. This honestly was the most intimidating mountain pass I have driven through yet. The trails are seldomly traveled, as it is quite a rough ride and they are NARROW- allowing for only Jeeps and other mid-sized off road vehicles to navigate them. The views are amazing as the mountain pass takes you from the east side of the mountains to the west, leading up to several abandoned silver, lead, gold, copper, vanadium, and fluorite mines at an elevation of a mile high. We explore a few of the larger underground mines in this two-part series outlining this desert mountain mining area.
Joining us again are Kenny and Todd from the ‪@ZiaMountainAdventures‬ TH-cam channel! They're a lot of fun to join up with, and their videos are great as they are artistically edited, along with music that they created themselves! You were absolutely right - that shelf road looked quite precarious! I think I only saw one or two places in some of the hairpin turns where you would be able to turn around or move out of the way for an oncoming vehicle. That was pretty exciting footage to watch! Glad you got a drone, too! That should help you out in your explorations and might save you some legwork. That second mine was interesting with all of its parallel drifts and various junctions. I don’t think I would’ve been able to cross by that deep pit on that narrow ledge that you guys did. Glad there was an alternative way to get past that by using the other parallel tunnel. The classical musician in me appreciated hearing Grieg’s “In the Hall of the Mountain King” during the opening couple of minutes. I like how you coordinated the picture changes with the chords at the end of the musical selection. Another great, A+ video!

Hey Frank! That trail was probably the most terrific one I've ever driven on! Driving off-camber with a death drop feet away really was an experience. There's no room for vehicles traveling in opposing directions to safely pass. I'm glad you liked the footage! I was thinking about posting the unedited clip as another video, what do you think? That drone is an amazing machine. It will be able to get great shots from the air and cut down surface exploring time. The "Woo!" Mine was interesting with parallel drifts and cross cuts. Now we know we don't need to do any ledge walking in there, lol! The second face had some really cool folds in the rock. It appeared that the miners contacted some sort of intrusive rock 1000 feet in. I really like some of Grieg's pieces. I actually used "Morning Moods" at the beginning of the "Shattered Stopes" video! I appreciate you noticing the video syncing with the music and the kind words! Thank you, Frank!

@@ABANDONED_UNDERGROUND I saw that folded section of rock that you pointed out. I find stuff like that really fascinating because I think it usually means there was some kind of seismic activity going on. Or, at the very least, a lot of pressure exerted over eons. Yeah, I remember hearing the “Morning“ music in your other video. That piece of music is used all the time in movies, commercials, and cartoons whenever somebody is waking up or it really is morning time. I think Grieg would be proud! If you ever get a chance, listen to the one and only piano concerto that he composed. It’s his Piano Concerto in A Minor. My high school student just learned an abbreviated and simplified solo arrangement of the first movement of that concerto. Guess where a snippet of the first movement of that piano Concerto was used recently? It was used in a Jack-in-the-Box TV commercial last year for their new spicy, tiny tacos that they were selling at the time. Classical music is everywhere!

    Are you click baiting now?

Why would you consider this click bait? Every element in the thumbnail is in the video. That trail in was quite terrifying, and there are sound bytes from both wrestlers depicted.

I guess I watch you regularly for I don't know a couple years and never seen a intro like that I thought we were going to see a ghost or some shit..... 👻 👻😝

Ah, I see. Thank you for watching, I really appreciate it! I know Macho Man is dead, but it's highly unlikely that his ghost will be hanging out in an abandoned mine, lol! That narrow trail along that cliff edge was terrifying at times! Thank you for letting me know on your perspective!
