  • Finding vibrant, colorful crystals and minerals underground is always a special treat! We discover a rich deposit of azurite, malachite, a highly-sought aqua blue mineral*, tons of gold... fools gold, and galena. We also find a very bizarre and spectacular underground marvel- tunnel walls, floors, and wood stained bright blue from copper deposits.
This series catalogues miles of underground workings that connect with many adjacent mines in the area, along with endless historical graffiti, the most elaborately timbered hoist room, ore cars, drills, windlasses, spectacular minerals, and even miner's garments. We get to explore many of the 14 levels in this mine, all of them extensive! The amount of ladder-climbing and underground hiking in this place has been the most extensive exploration to date! If you haven't seen parts 1 through 5, you're missing out. This abandoned mine is truly an amazing place!
Joining us once again on this adventure is Zia Mountain Adventures, Exploring Abandoned Mines and Unusual Places, and On the Next Episode. Together, we take our underground abandoned mine exploring experiences to another level. We have hiked several miles underground, documenting this historic place, each one of us with a different perspective. I hope you enjoy our videos, and I encourage you to check out and subscribe to ‪@ZiaMountainAdventures‬, ‪@AbandonedMines11‬, and ‪@ExtremeFieldTripEntertainment‬ channels as well!
Inside of this mountain holds many unexpected finds and surprises! We are doing an episode for every level that we visit, each with its own unique items of interest!
WARNING: Abandoned Underground's videos are intended for entertainment purposes. No intention of training, education or desire to duplicate actions performed in these videos are suggested, implied, or inferred. Performing actions that expose one to risk without proper training, education, or experience are inherently dangerous and should not be done.
*The aqua blue mineral is not named (I call it Specialite in the videos) due to potentially divulging this area's location.
This abandoned mine exploring video is shot and presented in 4K and HDR. I recommend for your viewing experience to watch this video with a TV, monitor, or mobile device with a 4K/HDR compatible display. It really does make a difference!

That was a cool map graphic at the beginning with the little icons/avatars representing the four explorers (1:27). You even had the avatars moving down to the map in time with the beat of the music! Loved it! That Schilling coffee can and Armour lard can were unique finds! Never have seen those brands before. That drawing of a house at 10:01 was a first! Never have seen a house drawn in a mine. The colors near the end were fantastic! I watched this in 4K on my mobile phone, and it looked absolutely top-notch and of a professional grade. Well done! 👍

Hey, Frank! I'm really glad that you noticed the little details in the info graphics! I like syncing movements to music. I think every video with a score that I've made has some elements of cohesiveness with audio and visual details. The Schilling was a brand I don't think I've seen until then. Armour Lard, I've seen before in the "Shattered Stopes" copper mine. That mine is a true time capsule with all of the historical graffiti in there! There are many drawings that were a first for me! Did you see Porty's explanation of how the blue sludge got there? It's really interesting!
Thanks for the kind compliment, Frank! I just wanted to get this video out there. I've been working on it for 3 weeks here and there and just wanted to publish it! The funny thing is, the video that you watched yesterday isn't even the completed version! It takes TH-cam about 3 days to process the videos in HDR for some reason!!! I usually upload the video and let it sit in purgatory until it's fully processed by TH-cam, then publish it. The completed version should be ready sometime tomorrow. Your phone should have an HLG display, so it is HDR compatible. Watch some parts with vibrant colors when the video quality says "HDR" on the gear icon. Let me know if you notice a difference or not!

It’s Tuesday evening, and the highest video quality I see available for selection under the gear icon is 2160p. I believe that’s the same it was the day the video went live. Still looks great, though!@@ABANDONED_UNDERGROUND

@AbandonedMines11 wow! I just checked, too, and it's STILL NOT FINISHED processing! This is got to be a record.

Yeah, the colors in this section were par for the course on this mine. Unreal stuff. Great job capturing all of those nice pockets! Great edit as always! Digging the music plugs as well. Almost time for some southbound shenanigans!

Pyrite and water react to form sulfuric acid. Sulfuric acid and copper sulfides react to form copper sulfate (the "blue Smurf sludge") and, sometimes, H2S gas depending on the mineral. Chalcocite is notorious for producing H2S when leached.

I always love your input, Porty! The knowledge you possess is amazing! Luckily, Todd does carry an H2S monitor. I hope you will be able to join us in a few weeks!

I think I saw a tab for an Opening Key on that Folger's Can, like those on older Spam cans, never saw that on a coffee can.

From what I was able to Google, that Folger's Can is Circa 1930.

You are absolutely right! I believe that a lot of cans from that era had a tool included to open them! Thanks for the comment and watching!

That time frame would be on-point for when that mine was still operating!
