Thank You Mike. He said something important. I love Malcolm X. One of the Legends. But, people’s misunderstanding of his House vs Field allegory has done much damage to our understanding of history. From the South, we know the truth. House slaves took out more slave owners that Field slaves or revolts. Smothering them in their sleep, putting poison or glass in their food, starting fires, etc. Not only were they the source of information, but, the small daily rebellions were far frequent and numerous than the big revolts like Nat Turner. Malcolm was just making a point. It didn’t need to be taken as gospel. Khalid Muhammad made it even worse, by turning it into like a moving character reenactment. Now you have people making up Stupid memes and slogans like, “I Am Not My Ancestors.” The disrespect is so Crazy. They know nothing about what they’re talking about. They don’t know the stories.
Same for people who think MLK was soft - when in reality his family was constantly at literal war with the Klan. Molotovs and Drivebys at his Granny’s house. His whole crew was strapped. Bayard Rustin taught him the technique he used as a strategy. One that worked to get people organized who couldn’t goto war. Children, students, young and old women. Of course, some did… like the old lady who shot the klan grand dragon through his bedroom wall to end lynching, she was ready to take on the entire town. But, The “carpool” was created by them. The “free lunch” in schools was created by them. “Layaway” was created by them. Anything to strengthen the economic boycott and make sure everyone can eat. Ppl just don’t understand the strength or resilience.

Art like that needs to be pushed out into the mainstream everyday but instead we're getting nothing but trash in my opinion.....not all but the majority of artists....male and female...are all talking about the same exact thing!!! If you take away money, drugs, sex, jewelry and cars.....we would easily see and hear the TRUTH of what hip hop really is!!!! Take those aspects away you wouldn't have none of those particular rappers around period!!

Bro it's 2023 and we have options. I've been an Independent rap fan for years. Big fan of Tech9ne, K-rino and Killer Mike for years nothing is stopping great Artists from putting out music. Jcole established Dreamville years ago and now they might have the strongest team in terms of Artists (Cole, JID, Earthgang, Lute, Bas, Arie Lennox, Cozz etc. ). Always remember who runs these labels and networks but they can't stop greatness from being heard.
Don’t forget about clothes and shoes! They love to rap about $2500 sneakers and red bottoms. Some like purses!🤦🏾♂️!
