'He changed my life, him and Big Boi changed my life, so no matter what I do I want them to be proud of me". -- Thats such a profound quote by Killer Mike.....it shows how humble he really is, something that's lost in today's hip hop scence
Michael is a classic. It's not many albums that can make me cry and halfway through the album, I shed a tear. If your music can move me to be express emotions, that's how I will rate a album and this album so far (on my 2nd listen) is the best rap album of the year
The entire album is extraordinary. The sequence is perfection, the weird pockets he and the features flowed in, the lyrics, and the production are flawless. It has been a while since I have heard a hip-hop album with no skips and I mean years.
This album is what we needed. I cried on that mother song, losing my grandmother at 35 "I'm 37 now" I didn't even know that single was out before this interview. I called my mom's. It's 7:38pm eastern standard time 6/16/2023 I'm going to my mom's house with my twin brother, little brother and little sister for Father's day
Never really was a fan this is why it’s always good to see these type of interviews to get a better view of someone’s mindset, I feel like he is a good motivational guy with a load of wisdom.
As a grown man to open up about his whole life through music and then give the footnotes through this interview.. Gives this album a whole nother appreciation... True Brilliance!
Can’t be in my top 5 of all time without a classic album. Congrats mike for making my top 5 with this one. You can hear the quality and hard work. Grammy worthy for sure. I’ll be watching! It was worth the long wait!
This man never disappoints. Motivating AF. The passion he has and the emotions that come up when he speaks of this project makes me excited to listen. Fabo, sleepy brown, Andre 3k yea this gon be a good one. I’m bout to study this one.
I Like Killer Mike. He wants to be on top of the Rap Game. He’s Cutting Ass & Taking Names in 2023. I got Tickets last month for his concert in Charleston SC next month. BOYYEEE!!! I. CAN’T. WAIT.
Mike has represented our generation and culture so masterfully. He may not get his credit but the important ones have benefitted from his GOOD DEEDS. Yall dont even know he stopped ATL from burning. Real super hero.

Killer Mike is nothing short of amazing. I’ve been a fan ever since The Whole World . This album is phenomenal and amazing. No skips throughout this project. Thank you.
My mother died when I was 7. Her mother raised me and passed away when I was 27. You don't ever get over the passing of your mother, you just learn to cope. Listening to MOTHERLESS, "Like a hole in my heart (Pray for me), and I wanna call the Lord But I don't know where to start..."
Man, Motherless had me missing my mama like she passed yesterday. I suppressed a lot of those emotions, not actually dealing with them. That song sounded like I felt word for word. And like you said we never get over it, just learn to deal with it. Respect, bro!!!🫡
My grandma raised, she passed away 2010 from blood infection during dialysis. I saw here health deteriorate in front of my eyes. Here physician but her on life support for 2day days. They gave our family time to see her before she transitioned. But they day I got the call she was life support it was raining. I remember when I was younger, she would open the front door of our house and we would sit and look at the rain. I would ask her why it’s raining she would say”somebody just went home.” But the day grandma left it rained for 3days. It’s been almost 14 years since grandma transitioned and I’m still hurting. I still can’t say the words he had courage to say in “Motherless.”
No cap. The new album just played randomly after some UK Afrobeats while I was lifting weights. NO WORD OF LIE!! I gave up on US hip hop for the most part but this album speaks to my life and journey like it was written for me about me!! Inspired me to keep moving for more! It’s taught me that where I am in life now is normal and there’s prolly a million other men like me feeling the way I feel about life and going through the same motions! Paired with this in depth insight into the album and his process? It makes so much sense! Thank you Killer Mike! Made me feel like a kid falling in love with rap again! But spoke to me like a man would council another man through trials and tribulations! Much love from New Zealand AOTEAROA
Me and my husband listened to this album together and immediately felt uplifted. I felt like it was speaking to my inner self. I hope he wins.the awards that he wants. I hope it changes people for the better.
Michael is a legend. Atlanta has truly produced some gems. My goodness. And the part about his momma and grand momma! Sheesh! I had to hold back tears at the job.
Morning! Thanks for sharing this conversation with Killer Mike, his-story is inspirational and proves what hard work, believing in yourself will pay off big time. Killer Mike's reference to King Solomon who wrote most of Proverbs is spot on.
Just wanna say this man’s smile is infectious and kept me wanting to watch this interview. I could have had this on mute and still enjoyed watching his joy. Makes me realize I’m not used to seeing black men smile. Much love to our black men 🖤
I’m happy for whatever I can get from 3 stacks, and it’s a blessing when he steps outside. It seems like this verse, and the one he did for Goodie Mobb’s last project was a bit more just poetry and flow, and he didn’t really go ham like we all wish he would. Just gotta manage our expectations and remember that he doesn’t work for us. He shares his art when he wants to, and I feel grateful to have it.
Always been a fan!!!! Even more of one, hearing the story of his mom and grandma!! Losing both of mine in the last year and a half has been the hardest thing to deal with in life
Thank you for this one. This is one of the best projects of this genre. If you love Hip Hop it’s required listening. Take some time. Ride out. Listen front to back.
So many amazing songs on this new album Slummer, Motherless, Run, Don’t Let the Devil and so many others. Killer Mike makes music for thinking, pondering and to make you analyzing yourself
Lost my mom and grandmother and Great grandmother when I was a teenager around 14 that song motherless is one of my favorite songs of all times next to dear momma idk how many times yesterday I played that song and the video is sooo powerful but the whole album is 🔥
Around real people, vulnerability is very appreciated. The redemptive story and growth as a human being is happening in our community as Black men. Salute for this interview, to peel back layers. Shared in service for today’s and future generations impacted by tumultuous backgrounds: by default due to the circumstances of our upbringing, shaped by world conditions pre-existing before our birth (sadly systematic reinforced for a specific end to the detriment of many Black men and women, to include many community segments held by poverty, not engaged/supported to elevate upward in life and society).
Amazing interview. Always been hip to Killer Mike and Run the Jewels but I never really dived into his work. After this interview tho I'm definitely listening to the album! Much love and respect

Listening to the album now, I’m on ‘Shed Tears’, and God, whatever you are doing in Michael’s life to at least have him sampling gospel songs for the vain reason of making a hot album bring forward the greater good you have for him in his life, and in the lives of his listeners. 🙏🏾
Did you even listen to the words of the song before you decided he used it for a vain purpose? This reads as if you're passing judgment,in the form of a prayer, when really the msg of the songs definitely speaks to real issues that are perpetuating generational curses, and he ties it up by referring you back to God for the answer.
