What Exactly is: Coevolution and the Case of Durant vs Heatmor

  • On paper, Durant - Heatmor relation might be confusing, but the logic is quite sound and simple. It’s a phenomenon called coevolution. In fact, many occurrences of it had happened in the real world. Kudos to the pokemon designer for applying the concept nicely.

I did not expect you to be such a small channel! With this quality I expected you to be much bigger! As a student of biology I absolutely love this video, and I can't wait for more! Super entertaining.
Don't mind me as I press this big black button underneath the video.... Oops! I seem to have made it grey. Oh well, I guess that's just how it has to be then!

I still have a long way to go in terms of production and quality since i basically started with 0 experience of editing and all that, but glad you like it. I'll keep improving.
And good luck in your study too, hope you enjoy it.

I suspected that durant may have evolved the steel armour before heatmor evolved the fire tongue to exploit it. Though that does raise the question of the wording of the dex, which implies that the armour still functions as an anti-predatory defence by being worded in present tense, and mentioning heatmor directly (it seems arguable that the non-fire-type ancestor wouldn't count as heatmor; can you really call something a heatmor if it can't, y'know, produce heat?).
In any case, didn't know that about cuckoos, pretty neat to learn!

One way to look at it is that yes the armor does indeed still provide anti-predatory defense. Logically, heatmor would still need to use the fire to melt through it, and that consumes energy (or pp if we're strictly talking pokemon logic). As long as it's not free, it's still a deterrence.
Another way to look at it is simply: it's pokemon, the logic doesn't need to be 100% sound lol

Can you do a video on glass sponges?
I find them really interesting since they use silica as their skeleton material.

I could, but probably not soon though.
Already got several videos to be uploaded.
I might be able to make one next month (or whenever i finished Dragon's Dogma 2 to be honest)
