- Devils Hole pupfish had always been on the brink of extinction. Its population is unstable, at some point even plummeted into only 35 individuals. Conservation efforts had been done to keep their existence. It is one of the first animal to be protected by the US government. Even so, there are some controversies surrounding their conservation.

Lol I just found out the existence of this fish last month thanks to a minecraft mod (Alex's mobs), its very interesting how they live
A minecraft mod have them? That's oddly specific, but cool to hear
Me too man, i had only heard of them through alex mobs
I first learned about them on Octonauts 😅
But I remember reading about the controversy surrounding their conservation on Wikipedia and thinking , “Well I suppose it makes sense that some people feel we shouldn’t waste time and resources on a species that seems destined to go extinct *cough*pandas*cough* and wont have much of an environmental impact if it did, but actively advocating for wiping them out seems pretty messed up”
You should make a video on dungeon meshi, that series is really unique with how it deals with monsters
I do love dungeon meshi.
Maybe i'll make a "zoologist reviews dungeon meshi" video someday if no one does by then
@@OutofPlaceZoologistSounds like it’ll be an interesting watch!
thanks for making a video on this, I love Devils Hole pupfish and the history behind them
i've seen these guys at the ash meadows wildlife preserve. super cool.
as an American I like weird species but some times extinction happens but the trilobites and pterosaurs deserve a second chance
10:08 I believe it's "cap-E-art"
