    Man, thank for this the work you put in on this YT. I had the same issues on my 2013. Personally, I am not really sold on AWD for this reason. One more issue to address if you keep your cars long term. If you can drive......front wheel drive is all you need.

      Yeah it sucked I had to replace this part. I am glad it is helping people figure out if they have the same problem. I can do some DYI myself but this was a lot more involved and needed to get several tools so I just took it to the mechanic.

      @@soundmisen8864 Im the same. I knew there had to be a rely tip switch and was hoping that was all it was. I had a extended warranty soI took to dealer. They put a unit that had 42k on it per terms of the warranty. Read your terms and conditions. This is after the warranty company pushed back asking how it was serviced. Luckily I had receipts from dealer on AWD fluid purchases otherwise they would have denied claim.

      @@toddhebel6048 Yeah, I don't trust on extended warranties, they are usually from third party companies and they don't wanna pay up. I actually purchased one through the dealer when buying this card. After carefully reading the fineprint at home, I went next day to cancel it. They add a lot of BS so you can't use it.

      You are welcome! There are two possibilities depending on the DTC error code one fairly cheap (detailed in this vid) another one more involved and expensive (this was my case and had a mechanic do it). I tried to read the DTC codes with a couple of OBD readers from Amazon, neither worked. So don't waste your time and money on these readers. Just take it to a mechanic to diagnose it, remember, the AWD light has to be on for them to diagnose it, do not turn the ignition off when you arrive to the mechanic, just tell them to bring their reader and diagnose it on the spot. The EDP solenoid replacement + labor was about 560 bucks for me, I've read online people paying between 500 and 700. If they wanna charge you more than that, take it somewhere else. Changing the solenoid did solve my problem, at least it has not come back since the replacement about a month ago. Good Luck!

    Looked up part # 39794-SDA-A02. It came back as not the required part. It listed now as39794-SDA-A03. This is on a 2014 HONDA CRV.

    Part made in China, that's explains a lot. Top note for not breaking mounts.

    • @soundmisen8864
      @soundmisen8864  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The relay was made in China but that was not the problem in this case. The part that failed, the EDPS solenoid, is actually made in Japan.

    I have a 2016 CRV and this relay is in the front driver side behind the bumper, the relay AND the socket got pulled off in an incident, do you know whether the socket can be purchased and soldered onto the wires? Only option I see is to buy a whole new engine harness since it's attached to the engine harness.

    • @mz_ppp
      @mz_ppp 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      My 2016 crv has the same issue. The AWD stay solid on. Replace a few different parts and then dealer told me to just replace the entire rear differential-with no guarantee that it can absolutely fix the problem. Now I am driving with the lights on and fwd only. Did you fix yours? If so, how?

    • @nautical1078
      @nautical1078 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mz_ppp Yes, I just bought a $15 relay and socket from Amazon and connected the wires myself, the light went away instantly. I didn't even have to get the same exact OEM relay as Honda.
      For your case, which parts did you replace? First thing to check is if the relay is working, if it's a relay issue then it's an easy fix like mine, but even after relay replacement if it doesn't go away then it could be more to it.

      DAM ! Thanks for letting us know that the 2016 Relay is Not in that rear panel. Lots of work just to find it was not there.
      I am having the same issue with the light staying on. I did have repairs done a year ago on front end from a Deer and maybe that got me where the relay is having an issue now.
      Gonna go and look for it now. Thanks again.

    Would adding dielectric grease to the relay socket make it last longer?

    • @justj2729
      @justj2729 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That is a good idea and worth a try. I would try it as the dielectric grease would act as a barrier to moisture.

    Hi! Just came across this video while trying to find out why my AWD light went on about 2 days ago on my 2013 crv. The light goes off after turning the car off then it will come back about 15mins while driving... if i bring this to my local mechanic while the warning light is on will they be able to read whether what kind of repair needs to be done? Ex. Relay replacement or selenoid...etc. thanks!

    • @soundmisen8864
      @soundmisen8864  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, but make sure you don't turn off the car before the mechanic diagnoses it. Warning light must be on when he checks for the error code.

  • @toddhebel6048

    how did you know it was the relay and not the selinoid?

    • @soundmisen8864

      I didn't, the relay was the easiest one the replace. Turned out it was the solenoid, so I took it to the shop to get it replaced. Hadn't had a problem since.

    • @soundmisen8864
      @soundmisen8864  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, from my experience it is a mechanical part that fails, the solenoid. Mine occurred at around 50k. Although, I have not had any issues since I got it fixed.

    • @soundmisen8864
      @soundmisen8864  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry to hear that. Take it to the dealer or a mechanic while the AWD light is on. Do not turn off the car. They will need to use the OBD to read the faulty code while the light is on. According to bulletin 15-016 cars affected are CRV from 2012 to 2014. Yours might be the relay, which is a way cheaper fix. www.tsbsearch.com/Honda/15-016
