    • @rudymurillo9334
      @rudymurillo9334 ปีที่แล้ว +22

@@bytesizedbible 1 Corinthians 8 is not about buying food in the market. It’s about partaking in worldly things. Not that the meat is sinful, but that there are people in the family of God that are susceptible to such worldly things and can cause them to stumble or backslide. A lot of times in our modern society we read scripture from an individualist perspective. Paul is calling for the Church to abstain from things like eating meat offered to idols because it could harm your brother or sister in Christ’s’ walk.
We shouldn’t be thinking “is this worldly practice sinful to me” we should be thinking “could make actions lead another to sin”.
Christian liberty is not about being able to do whatever pleases you, it’s knowing you don’t have to do whatever pleases you and sometimes it’s better for everyone to do so.
Halloween doesn’t profit the church or a Christians spiritual walk so we can easily stop celebrating for the benefit of the whole body of Christ.
Instead of mocking a guy like John Ramirez for his “kooky views”. You can think, there are a lot of Christians that have also come out of a satanic background. What is most loving or beneficial for them? The Bible has a harsh warning for causing a sibling in Christ to stumble.
But when you thus sin against the brethren, and wound their weak conscience, you sin against Christ.

    • @CLDJ227
      @CLDJ227 ปีที่แล้ว +31

@@rudymurillo9334 Causing someone to stumble does seem to come up as a concern for people when disscusing this topic. It's understandable that if someone has a bad experience associated with Halloween (whether they are an ex santanist or new ager, who participated in disturbing spiritual stuff). However, I think that's why most christians bring up the point about conviction or that scripture concerning meat.
If someone does have a bad back background with Halloween or has convictions about the holiday. Then I will not encourage them to celebrate or participate in anything. However, the christians who don't have much conviction about the day, and use it as a way to reach people by giving out gospel tracks to kids, inviting their neighbors to come to a church harvest night where their kids can play games and get candy as long as they dress in appropriate costumes, and perhaps this can play a part in reaching people and help lead them to christ.
Furthermore, usually when a person does have something that stumbles them that is a block they have to work on personally. For example, if someone who's recovering from a porn/sex addiction can't look at a Coke bottle as that may somehow stumble them, then they have to work on not staring or looking at one all the time. If I know that's their struggle then I won't put a Coke bottle in front of them, but that person shouldn't expect a store or even a church to not sell Coke just because that's a struggle for them.
All in all, the main thing is that too many christians may get too legalistic and reactionary when it comes to topics like this. So much so that they end up enforcing rules, forbiddening everything, and say that the Bible says something that it doesn't (like the idea that our salvation is in trouble for participating in this holiday and it isn't). Hope all of this makes sense, have a blessed day.

However, it’s even worse; you’re using words that SOUND SIMILAR to other words and equating them. It’s akin to saying “I” = “eye” or “hare” = “hair.” It’s hogwash.
If you look up the actual etymology of the word, which is the history behind it, you will see that “hallow” means “to make holy, sanctify; to honor as holy, consecrate, ordain.” All-Saints Day is thusly called All-Hallows Day. Besides from the arguments addressed on the video, should Christians celebrate Halloween? No they should not, is it wrong to celebrate Halloween? Yes it is, is it a sin to celebrate Hollween? More than likely yes.
      Why?
We know that there are things that are part of Halloween to which people Would acknowledge that if you say they aren’t it would be ridiculous or silly of you to say so, for example giving out candy, wearing costumes, eating candy, going house to house knocking on doors asking for candy, punkin designs, And we can all agree that there is nothing wrong with these things in it if itself.
But you know what? There are some parts of Halloween that are wrong and sinful and we as Christians should not partake in these things and neither in celebrations which promote an endorse anti biblical values and teachings. You can not separate these things from Halloween and say they are completely independent, we need to acknowledge what Halloween is today and has been for many years.
So to answer the question part of Halloween is that you can dress as any character you want and there is nothing wrong with that, it doesn’t matter if those characters promote or endorse anti biblical values like sexual immorality, fornication, profanity, taking Gods name in vain, witchcraft, enchantment, gossip, idolatry, violence for entertainments ect ect, for example dressing up your kids like marvel superheroes like iron man, or spider man from Toby, or from Andrew Garfield we all know those movies and characters practice sexual immorality and fornication and why did they included those things in there well simple for pleasure/entertainment and because they them selves don’t think there is nothing wrong with that.
Part of Halloween is also that you can dress as demonic characters or serial killers like Jason, Freddy cougher, chucky ect ect, and why? Well just for FUN. And for those of us who once saw those movies lets not fool our selves, we all know how how perverted those movies and characters are.
The 3 primary themes of Halloween are darkness, death and terror, this is what it is so why should we Christians or anybody sincerely celebrate it?
What doe sit mean to say trick or treat? It that appropriate according to the bible?
So should we celebrate Halloween? NO
Now just because on the day of Halloween you decide to give candy or eat candy or wear a custom it doesn’t necessarily mean you are celebrating Halloween but one easy way to know if you are celebrating Halloween is to ask your selves why are you doing those things?
      2 Corinthians 6:14-18 KJV
Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Wherefore Come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, And touch not the unclean thing; And I will receive you, And will be a Father unto you, And ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.
      1 John 2:15-16 KJV
Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

This is a Biblical response. Romans 14:13-21 (ESV):
“13 Therefore let us not pass judgment on one another any longer, but rather decide never to put a stumbling block or hindrance in the way of a brother. 14 I know and am persuaded in the Lord Jesus that nothing is unclean in itself, but it is unclean for anyone who thinks it unclean. 15 For if your brother is grieved by what you eat, you are no longer walking in love. By what you eat, do not destroy the one for whom Christ died. 16 So do not let what you regard as good be spoken of as evil. 17 For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking but of righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. 18 Whoever thus serves Christ is acceptable to God and approved by men. 19 So then let us pursue what makes for peace and for mutual upbuilding.
20 Do not, for the sake of food, destroy the work of God. Everything is indeed clean, but it is wrong for anyone to make another stumble by what he eats. 21 It is good not to eat meat or drink wine or do anything that causes your brother to stumble.”
You need peace with them in order to proselytize successfully. There are greater hills to die on than hobbies you enjoy.

Gotta disagree a little bit. The origins of Halloween are pretty clearly from the pagan Samhain festival, which isn't suitable for Christians. However in the eighth century, Pope Gregory III established All Saint's Day at roughly the same time (this is not an uncommon thing; a lot of Christian celebrations happen near other religions' celebrations on the calendar). All that said, our modern American celebration of Halloween is entirely secular and silly. I wouldn't sweat it.

Fun fact: many decorations sold during Halloween are actually people who have been possessed by the demons who live in the costumes they were wearing. When the costume bought in the store goes on, the person becomes possessed and turns into an inflatable or animatronic monster of the costume they were wearing which can then be sold for profit. It's how Spirit Halloween is able to stay in business and remain profitable while only being open a few weeks a year. It's also why you should never wear a Halloween costume, they are the devil's clothes!

Not _all_ Christian rock bands are _truly_ Christian...but most of the ones that I have known the past 40 years...and I have worked with some of them...as a matter of fact, many years ago back in 89 I even had one band spend the night at my house ( WHITECROSS ) and I can tell you that some of them are *_the best of us!_*

To avoid confusion and misunderstanding one another...allow me to clarify.
I _absolutely_ disagree with the pablum being foisted upon the masses by certain _"churches"_ who have adopted the *ABSOLUTELY UNBIBLICAL* _so-called _*_Seeker Friendly_* format for their Sunday "church" meetings...wherein...they do RIDICULOUS THINGS such as *_putting on a rock concert during Sunday morning "worship"_*
( _notice I put _*_"worship"_*_ in quotation marks_ ).
Rock concerts that many _successful _*_secular_*_ rock and pop musicians only _*_DREAM_*_ of being able to do!_ With state-of-the-art light shows, video, lasers, dry ice fog and fog machines etc...When the _"service"_ begins, the house lights dim, the fog rolls, the stage lights light up and the music explodes! Welcome to Sunday morning worship! ( *NOT!* )
If you have no idea what I am referring to, one of the better known ones for example, would include *Church by the Glades* Pastored by *David Hughes.*
Sunday morning worship should be about *ONE THING* and _one thing ALONE!_ *Exalting the name of Jesus!* But these Sunday morning rock concerts do _exactly_ what Saturday night rock concerts do...
      *1)* Exalt the performers
*2)* Appeal to the flesh through the overwhelming all of our fleshly senses
Many years ago, I supported this idea as I saw it being birthed in the first ten years of the 2,000s...and as a church elder, I sought to make it happen. My pastor disagreed with me and after much reflection and ( _I believe_ ) the leading of the Holy Spirit in me, I was shown the error of this concept.
I think that Christian rock concerts - _generally speaking_ - are a fine form of entertainment for believers and non-believers alike. But it _is not,_ and *should not* replace Sunday morning worship wherein, Jesus is the center, and the congregation and the musicians stand on equal, humble ground together. Exalting Jesus' name in song, allowing the congregation to join in and *Be Heard* rather than compete with the volume levels of the worship team.

I think it all comes down to that passage where Paul is talking about weaker Christians. “Do not eat meat in front of your brother if it causes him to stumble,” in the context of the passage Paul is talking about mature Christians and weaker-in-the-faith Christians. If a fellow family member like say a brother or mother, has a problem with Halloween and doesn’t feel comfortable, then as the more mature Christian, we should humble ourselves and not grieve our neighbours. Now, with that being said I also totally agree with what you’re saying in the video especially about how we can’t worship the devil unintentionally. As individual Christians, we need to listen to our own convictions from the Holy Spirit, not grieve our neighbours, and not demonize those that feel comfortable with Halloween.

It's not about donning a costume! Just pay attention what is being celebrated: decorations symbolizing death are put out. It's darkness that is being celebrated. You might as well apply it to just about anything as long as "The One Who is in you , is greater than" ...and off they go clubbing , acdc concerts , taking part in things which God detests! You are being told clearly in the Bible to set yourselves apart from anything that doesn't glorify God! Remember, be holy for I AM holy!? What does the light have anything to do with the darkness?

@@alfredomaldonado6614 With enough rationalization and a lack of proper engagement and understanding, you can make anything sinful.
Also the Bible has many stories that has God telling people to kill entire countries, including the children. By your logic, we shouldn’t be celebrating the Bible either because it promotes violence against children. But because of the context provided in the Bible, we understand why that happened, right?
It’s interesting that you bring up Iron Man in particular, because his story was one of redemption. A rich man who indulged in sin and didn’t think about others suddenly realizes the suffering he indirectly has caused thanks to the weapons he built, and he builds a suit of armor to fight against those who are causing others to suffer. His last act is also a noble and selfless one, where he sacrifices his own life to save literally the entire universe at the cost of his own.
Spider-Man on the other hand is a character who often tries to help his villains be better people and teach them right from wrong, and lives by the teaching that with great power comes great responsibility. He may not always be perfect, but his heart is in the right place, and he does what he does for selfless reasons. And as a result of his constant selflessness, he often suffers in his social and work circles because his moral obligation to help others often pulls him away from his job and his friends. He makes sacrifices for the greater good.
What makes these fictional characters so appealing is that they are not perfect, and often they have to own up to their own mistakes and then lead by example. We see ourselves in them, and recognize the lessons that the stories are trying to convey. And in the end, what is good always overcomes what is evil (though there are cases where it doesn’t, which I do take issue with because it sets a morally bankrupt precedent).
But all you’re focusing on is the “sinful” parts, as if David never committed adultery with Bathsheba, as if Simon Peter never denied knowing Jesus, as if Matthew was never a tax collector, as if Paul never persecuted and executed Christians, as if Moses never worked for Pharaoh and oppressed the Israelites. You aren’t engaging with the context of the stories being told, you’re just watching them with the intent of saying “that’s a sin, that’s a sin, why do people like this stuff?!? It’s so sinful!”
Context matters. It comes down to your own discernment on whether the message being conveyed by the end is right or wrong.
Same applies to Halloween, are people celebrating it with the intent of celebrating the occult, fear, darkness, and terror? Some are, sure. But most are just looking to dress up as a character, hang out with others, and give candy to kids. Most of the time, they aren’t celebrating the occult, they are mocking it.
I watch horror movies, but I don’t let them change my lifestyle. How can I call something right or wrong if I’m not engaging with it to correctly discern if I am right or wrong about it? I have to understand it first before I judge it.
I’m not going to judge you for your opinions, you are entitled to them. You are welcome to watch whatever you are comfortable with watching and celebrating whatever you are comfortable with celebrating. You’re also welcome to disagree with how other people live their lives, express that you disagree with it, and explain why you disagree with it. But I would refrain from assuming who people are or their intentions for something without knowing the full context of the situation. Judge on a case by case basis with as much understanding as possible, because that is how God is going to judge us in the last days.

I don't about this one, In some places holidays are celebrated that, although named differently, share similar themes: contact with the spirit world involving the spirits of the dead, fairies, witches, and even the devil and demon angels. The Bible warns: “There must never be anyone among you who . . . practices divination, who is soothsayer, augur or sorcerer, who uses charms, consults ghosts or spirits, or calls up the dead.” Idk You might be entertaining demons playing with those Ouija boards..🤗 I'm glad IP starts with scripture tho/ 1 Corinthians 8 references the meat sacrifices to idols, but i think it's sufficient enough to say that were stumbling our brothers to honor darkness here. I know he's not intending to be critical, but a brother in the lord should be gained by other means. With that said, it didn't fair well with The story of Saul consulting a medium to bring up the spirit of the dead Samuel resulted in his death “because he was unfaithful to the LORD; he did not keep the word of the LORD and even consulted a medium for guidance...

Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

Fact is that us NON-christians think about Halloween is that mostly we say “No one cares if a holiday is about the devil or any evilness”.

I have always seen halloween as unnecessary really.. I don't mind people having the all saints day over the spooky dooky stuff..
I definetly agree that dressing as an evil caracter is not inherently sinful.. I just think of the intention.. You know if you play the Gospel you have to have someone play Judas iscariot.. It is still little proplematic to ask candy in the threat of a prank.. Or atleast I don't see how it brings Christ visible.. It depends how Gospel centric life you want I guess..

I feel like the only reason folks oppose Halloween is because it takes place on the 31st. If we moved it some other day no one would be opposed to it.
The best defenses I've seen for not dressing an getting candy is
    1. Wearing costumes invites demons
    2. Eating demon possessed candy
    3. Why do we need a holiday for people to dress up and allow strangers give us candy.

Makes no difference the date. Christmas is not on the right date either but Christians still use it to showcase the Saviour's Earthly birth.

Christmas absolutely is on the right date.
While nowhere in the Bible does it say "Christ was born on [Dec 25]," it does however describe the timing of Christ's birth. We can calculate this from context clues given in the Bible.
As we know from basic human biology, the average child is born about 9 months after they are conceived. Christ's conception is something announced in the Bible, in the Gospel according to Luke 1:26-38. In these verses we see only one timestamp given: 6 months into the pregnancy of St Elizabeth, the mother of St John the Baptist. The Theotokos is informed that she will bear the Son of God. Mary gives her consent to this, and then she conceives. So far we have two timestamps: 9 months after the Annunciation, and 6 months after the conception of St John the Baptist. However, we don't yet have an exact date. In the scriptures, though, we are told when St John the Baptist was conceived. The Gospel of Luke 1:5-22 describes the conception of Saint John the Baptist as happening "of the course of Abia". This is a critically important point because this describes the judean holiday of Yom Kippur, which happened in late September of 1 BC. How does that simple phrase describe Yom Kippur? Well, the Scripture records the Course of Abia as the eighth course among the 24 priestly courses for the Old Covenant Judeans. (Nehemiah 12:17). Each course served one week in the temple for twice each year. The course of Abia served during the 8th week and the 32nd week in the annual cycle. This means that the priestly course of Abia (the course of St Zacharias) was serving during the 2nd week of the Judean month of Tishri - the week of the Day of Atonement on the 10th of Tishri. In the secular calendar, the Day of Atonement on 10th Tishri lands anywhere from September 22 to October 8. In 1BC, Hebrew Calendars have calculated it to be roughly equivalent to be about September 27th. St Zacharias and St Elizabeth conceived John the Baptist immediately after Zacharias served his course. This means that St John the Baptist would have been conceived somewhere around the end of September. This confirms the Orthodox Church’s celebration of the Conception of St John the Baptist on September 23, and places his birth 9 months later at the end of June, confirming the Orthodox Church’s celebration of the Nativity of Saint John the Baptist on June 24. So if St John the Baptist was conceived around September 23rd-27th, then Christ was conceived 6 months later in March (23rd-27th). That means Christ was born 9 months later in December, 23rd - 27th, which just so happens to contain December 25th.

Yes you’re right. Because pagans, wiccans and devil worshippers use the 31st for ritual sacrifices. If it moved to say March on the day of Purim, a Jewish holiday where kids dress up and collect candy, there wouldn’t be any issues. Nail on the coffin. The problem with halloween is exactly that and that people use the day to celebrate fear, death, horror and the occult. You know all the worldly stuff we are supposed to resist.

Its not about asking the devil into your house or anything like it.
Neither is it worshipping him. Or lack of trusting the holy spirit.
But lets not act as if halloween is something christians should participate in. I mean, its literally a festival of the dead. What sign are we giving our children when we celebrate death and creepy stuff?
We ought to celebrate (eternal) life. Not darkness. Good. Not evil. This smells just like not wanting to let go of worldly things.
Halloween is as secular as it gets.
Roman catholocism is a prime example of how a festival of honouring the dead can quickly change in ungodly praying to the dead and all that wrong stuff.
We are called out of the world. So dont live in it. Live in the light, not the darkness.

Yes there is no verse in the Bible that says if you allow your children to dress in innocent costumes and collect candy that you're inviting the devil into your home.
But the question then becomes, if you're dressing up your children as devil with horns, vampires, witches and other horror characters associated with evil, is it really innocent? What are you really celebrating?

Jesus saved me from the new age, witchcraft and suicide...I practiced the occult for over 20 years, and Halloween has its roots in druidism (I am from Ireland, so I know the history)...there are some very misguided people who post articles online saying that Halloween even has Christian roots...I'm not sure if they are purposely trying to lead people astray, but what they are saying is false...I have former friends who are in covens and Halloween is their biggest festival...there is a huge amount of satanic and demonic activity during this time of the year...I know that Halloween is demonic...and unfortunately you are very deceived...Jesus said that in the last days there would be doctrines of demons and doctrines of men...I pray that He exposes all lies of the enemy 🙏
