Real glad I watched this one. I'm JUST getting into decoupage and image transfers and I had just watched another person use liquitex matte medium and thought "wtf is matte medium??? can I use the mod podge I just bought???" and apparently the answer is yes! This is so cool.
This is a great demo of how to do the same technique using what you have. I'm always trying to get the "perfect" supply and this video gives me confidence to use what I have. I have Gessos, Mod Podge and Acrylic already yet I had Matte Medium in my Amazon cart...now I want to try this before I buy.
your puppy agrees! thanks! what a lovely unpretentious approach!
Loved his video because 1. you're a great presenter 2. the techniques are easy (with practice) and 3. the supplies don't cost a fortune. Yo're right, we mostly don't have to run out and buy new supplies--need to just look to see what we already have. Thank-you!
Love this idea, and the info. I have so many unfinished creations and drawings. This is the finishing touch.
Omg what a dif this will make to me not only using napkins. So easily explained and illustrated. Thank u 💕
Thank you for this video. I love learning from TH-cam. And I do have all those tools.
Thanks for watching Betty, I hope you use the transfer techniques in your artwork. Happy creating, Shelley
Thank you! This is exactly the information I was looking for. So clear and easy to follow.
Thanks for watching! It really just takes a little practice to find which product you like using the best. Good luck! Happy creating, Shelley
I have been wondering if is works 🤔 Perfect timing 👍So happy thank you so very much. Have a blessed 🙌 day
Thank you so much! This is brilliant! I was just about to go out and buy special printing supplies and you solved my problem. Your results are just what I want for multi media images.
I had no idea you could use paint for image transfer ... how cool and neat! I love the mat medium and mod podge too. Best demo out there for this method. How simple you make it. THanks.
This was wonderful. Thank you sooo much for doing this technique
Thank you so much for sharing your experience!!! Appreciate it!
Thanks for sharing this. I make cards for my church & this is a great new idea. Thanks so much!! Love your videos!!
HI Nanci, Hope you try it. Have fun experimenting Aloha, Shelley
@@CraftingMamas thank you for the tutorial. So my question is this. I have wood circles that I’d like to paint I’m with acrylic paint and transfer color laser images to. Will transfer gel medium work, and if so, do I seal the acrylic painted surface first? With what? You might have answered some of this, but I’m a horrible learner if I can’t stop the teacher and ask questions 😂.
@@joyelleforjesus IT should work fine using gel Medium. A clear varnish should work to seal it. You might chose a spray varnish to finish it this way you aren't brushing over your image. Test one that you aren't using as a final project. That is my beat suggestion. Happy creating!
@@CraftingMamas thank you so much. 😊
Loved the bark of approval at the end. 🤓
Thanks Shelley - this is a great comparison - not done this technique before so great to see how it’s done x
Oh Deb, Everything you do is awesome. I can't wait to see what you make. xo Shelley
Crafting Mamas You are too kind xxx
Cool Thank you very much. I did not really even know much about transfer technique. Thanks again. Maybe the Gesso did the best job but I am not sure as it was not all the same image.
They look great. The watch was my favorite but they all came out great. Thanks so much my friend. Stay safe. 🌈🙏🏼🦋🌺❤️
Aloha Kathie, TFW and I hope you are staying safe. love and hugs, Shelley
Thanks for sharing that with the different mediums. Very helpful.
Thanks For watching hope you try it for yourself, Aloha Shelley
I was looking for exactly this! Thank you very much!
Thanks for sharing...I’m very new with mix media. I have been a bit afraid to start because I don’t a lot of products. All craft supplies are very expensive in my country so it have been holding me back. 😟
This technic have helped me to try. I could so easily make some beautiful backgrounds. 👍
I hope you will show more on how beginners starts to make something 😀👏👏👏
Blessings from Denmark 🇩🇰

Just start w whatever you have as those are true junk journals. Shelley has other videos you can refer to and you can subscribe to her channel. Her techniques are so cool but simple. Welcome to junk journaling and just have fun!!! 😃
Aloha Korsgaard, I make most of my art from recycled materials. I bet this would work with a good PVA glue as well. Just have fun and go for it! Happy Creating xo Shelley
@@lyndamurray4811 THank you for your kind words. hugs from Hawaii xo Shelley
Love u ❤ loved the way u demonstrate all
Thanks for watching happy creating!
GREAT video. Good morning from Olympia, WA. 👋🌺
Aloha, Thanks for watching. Wishing you a creative & crafty day! xo Shelley
Aloha Shelley!! Thank you for sharing the different ways we can put pictures down on another substrate. I keep making these recipe books and the pocket one from magazines lol!! That’s where I’ll be using these applications.
Aloha Lynda, I think we are cut from the same cloth.... lol. It works well with inexpensive Apple Barrel acrylic paint too. Xo Shelley
Crafting Mamas We are lol!! 🌺❤️👍🏼
excellent, simple and to the point thanks
❤ the sharing of comparisons! Thank You! Love the "ruff, ruff!" at the end!!! (Ah-na-lee)
Aloha Annalee, TFW, never dull in my house. Even the dog has to get in on it. LOL. Hope you have a creative & crafty week. xo Shelley
So wholesome and helpful!
Wow I am impressed so good to learn
Thanks
I’ve never seen this before- it’s great! I’ve been Googling for more info, but “image transfer” is bringing up tons of decoupage-image-transfer results. Can you suggest any key words that would clear those out and find more of your type of transfer? Thanks! Your video is really inspiring!
Thank you, that was very educational!
I never knew you could do it w plain acrylic paint! Have you ever tried it using a color other than white?
I also loved the look of the 3rd one you peeled off when it was only partially removed!
Can't wait to try this!
Hi Tammy, Yes you can use any color paint. The contrast would be different. Give it a try and be patient. It can definitely make some cool back ground to any art journal page or mixed media piece. Happy creating, Shelley
Thanks!
Too Cool😎!!! Thanks for sharing!!! Subscribed!!!
Thank you
So awesome!! Thanks for sharing!
Hope you try it. Tfw, Aloha Shelley
great and useful video!
Thank you!
Thanks a lot for this information and inspiration.
May i ask if i can do this in fabrics?
Thanks in advance for your attention.❤❤❤
HI Maria, I have done it with matte medium on muslin/ cotton fabric. But I would test it out on the fabric you are thinking of using. It works but you may need to put a sealer on top of the image after the transfer if you want it to be washable. Happy creating, Aloha, Shelley
@@blakegoode9416 thank you. For your advice. Thanks so much.🥰❤
fantastic video, thanks so much!
Informative video, I had no idea gesso and acrylic paint could be used as well. Thanks for sharing!
One question: I tried a magazine image on watercolor paper using gel medium. But after wetting it, and rubbing away the top layer, the bottom layer that we want on the paper keeps fading as it dries. Doesn't stay vibrant. Any idea how to fix that?
Hi Truckart -Some images stay bright and others don't.( no idea why)The only way I have found to keep them more vibrant is using either a spray acrylic sealer or a gloss medium. You might want to experiment and see what works best for the result you are seeking. Thanks for watching.
Thank you so much!
Excellent info!! Thank you for sharing!
TFW Arlene, hugs to you & yours. Hope you give it a try. xo Shelley
The dog agrees with your theory 😂🤣😂. Thanks for sharing I've waited to do this process for so long as I feared I didn't have the correct supplies. I'm definitely interested in doing this process. So from what I understood you to say, you can do this process with photocopies? Instead of the magizine images. I'm really interested in using this video and idea as a challenge that I do daily in a couple of groups. You're so inspirational!! I appreciate all you do. Namesta 🕉️🐌💙🐞💛🦋💚🌻💜🦚
Hugs & love Lala. Photocopies work really well. Hope you give it a try. xo Shelley
hello i have a quick question. im trying to use this technique for my painting and was wondering if the transferred image could still be wet? i ask this because as much as i want the details of a photograph or an image transferred perfectly but also want to deface it afterwards while its still wet? if that makes sense? sorry for the bizarre question but really could use some help! anyways thank you for your video!
Hi Doug, The image and medium need to be dry before you can remove the paper. I am sure you can rewet the image after the transfer. I suggest you do some experiments and see if you can get the desired effect. Wishing you success ! Aloha, Shelley
Amazing Thank you❤
This is great. Thank you 🖤🖤🖤
Could I use a canvas for Matt media like this
Yes you can do the process on canvas, wood, paper.... have fun experiment. Happy creating!
Can you use polyurethane clear varnish
HI Denna, I would use it as it is toxic. Regular elmers glue would work. Hope that helps. Happy creating, Shelley
Can you use Elmers glue? Thanks
Hi Bonnie, I have not tried Elmers. If you try it let me know how it comes out, Happy creating! hugs, Shelley
If transferring a photograph , is the photograph printed on printer paper first? And if so , will an ink jet printer work or should image be printed on ink jet printer ?
Hi Jane, I have used this technique with book page images, photographs, magazine pages & printed imaged. The printer I have is a laser jet printer. I would suggest you experiment with what you have readily on hand. I am not a rule follower. So just go for it and have fun. Happy creating. Hugs & Aloha, Shelley
This is amazing.
Thank you for this video. Trying a photo transfer, first time, onto wood using clear Gesso. After letting it dry for about 20 hrs, I was unable to get all the paper off. Once dry it still was blotchy with white. If I used a bit more water then the photo was coming off in areas. Any suggestions? Thank you.
You can definitely keep removing the paper pulp with a spray bottle and water. You may want to use a clear acrylic sealer afterwards that will help with the cloudy residue. Happy Creating Shelley
It is possible transfer to Bible?
HI Magna, I have never tried. The only thing I would worry about is how thin most bible pages are thin. . They may not be able to handle it. . Experiment with dictionary pages. Or pages that are similar in thickness to the paper in your bible. Hope that helps. Happy creating.
Amazing!
Aloha Mary Ellen, Thanks for watching. Hope you have a crafty week. xo Shelley
Aloha !? are you from Hawai'i ? Nice
Quick question. Are you just putting the transfer medium on the bottom page? The Mod Podge looks like you just added it to the bottom page but the next one you added it to both the front of the image and the bottom page. It didn’t seem to make a difference to the finished product but then again.... you are great at this. LOL
You can just put it in the bottom page. I put it on bot for the mat medium because I poured out to much and didn't want to waste it. Hope that helps. Stay safe & have a crafty weekend. xo Shelley
Crafting Mamas LOL Yes. That helped. Love you!
I never saw a transfer of paper onto paper. Great
Why is my video just a green screen?
Refresh I guess. The video is here and no green screen. Hope it fixes itself. HAppy creating! Shelley
Why are you transferring image in to a busy paper full of text, lines? What a mess, not a solution for me, and all the images are just confusing, unclear, a Mess.
It's not about the image but what you can use to transfer any image of your choice. Try the image you want to transfer and use any of the things you have to do it. Glue, Mod Podge, Acrylic Paint, Gesso all work. I am Wishing you a creative and crafty day xo Shelley
Bad presentation!
Disagree, thought it was great
Thank you!
