Hey Noah! I'm the "old guy" (Ty's dad) who fished w/you in Oct, '21, in Lake Monona, all day in the rain/cold, BUT caught the 43" Muskie on YOUR rig. So MY favorite lure is whatever Noah has rigged up! LOL Seriously, I would have to have a whopper plopper w/me as a favorite. Smaller size, but very versitile. Thanks for the memory that day, and for your GREAT videos!
Totally agree. The jig and twister is the best all-around fish catching artificial bait ever. Caught just about every species available to me on that thing!
I'd go with a grub, but a very close second would be a 4"ringworm on a mushroom head jig. Ringworm was a staple of my guiding for 15 years. Throw it out, count it down, reel it back in. Caught everything we ever fished for and anybody can fish it.
I assumed some form of jig. My close 2nd would be an inline spinner such as rooster tails or Mepps. In upper Michigan, we used to catch everything on a Johnson's Beetle Spin (black w/ yellow stripes). It's really a jig with a spinner or a mini spinner bait.
size 1 7/8 swedish pimple dressed with a gulp 1" minnow. ice or not, you can target anything, any time. you can cast it and jig it. you can dead stick it or you can rip it. you can cane pole it in brush or shallow streams. you can target the super deep lake bottoms. you can troll it as well. my second pick would be a mepps #1 but for ice fishing and targeting deeper fish the pimple hedges it out for me
I usually use only one lure every year except when I fish panfish.. last year was a rubber worm. I started out dropshot then when I lose the weight I would hook the worm in the middle and fish it that way.. my arm is screwed up this year so I am just carp and catfishing to avoid reeling in a lot.
Awesome insight. I’m curious about hooks bending out on bigger/heavier fish. Any experience with that? Like a musky bending out the hook on that 1/8oz jig? Or how does that go in your experience? Just play ‘em light?

I shore fish for musky mostly and have never caught a musky on a musky lure. I have caught them on rubber worms and even on corn with a circle hook.
KOOL VID- mine would be 1/4 oz. blue-chrome Rattletrap!
love the beetlespin (mini-spinnerbait?) setup - very versatile. can change blade, change grub, have caught many different species with it

That's my go to bait, jig & 3" grub tail! I've caught more fish on that bait, then any other bait!! #1 bait!!!
That's always been my answer. In my eyes, I don't think there's even much of an argument! A hair jig would be my #2.

I make my own soft plastics. I have a 2” paddle tail rigged on a jig that I have caught 9 different species of fish on. So that would be my pick!!
NED Rig. Ive caught everything on that presentation.

I started just using ice jigs all year for panfish myself.

Appreciate you Noah!!!!
3" keitech easy shiner, same thought process as others, that just my confidence bait.
The grub my all time go to

Excellent choice I'd have to agree (but il probably be thinking about it all day now thanx! Lol
Would love to see how your presentation changes for the fish you’re going after.
I always seem to be working the lure wrong.
