The hardest part of areview is to put aside your preferences and speak in a general way about it.I only have 1 maple fretboard and it's on my bass. (mInd you, I will Tease you again about an incoming guitar that happens to have aa maple fretboard...)
Regarding Soloking MS1 love it to bits. Not perfect but lovable But what really wowed me is the guitar has an incredible voice. You know like when you pick up, say, a nylon strung acoustic and you both hear and feel the beauty in its sound. Yup - the Soloking MS1 is that good - it has soulfulness And the coil split ahhhh the coil split .... well you will just have to get one and see for yourself Is it perfect: not quite Could it be: relatively speaking yes! Any other considerations: if the big F did it there would be another grande on the price and probably a reduction in quality control In summary: put the specification list on a shelf behind you. This is not a product for millimetres and centimetres. Yes, they are important but not as important as result they hope to give. A musical instrument. One to be loved by ears and hearts. On one hand specifications can be loved on other hand it is easier to love a musical instrument At this price everyone can make their own decision no?
Great unboxing video Steve. I would definitely consider buying one of the JS-480’s, and probably would have bought one already had I not recently got a great deal on a Jet JS-600 which is a fantastic guitar. I like maple fretboards too but prefer the warmer tone of rosewood, so this is right up my street. Really impressed with your initial look at the tuning stability using the trem. I usually fit my 2 point trem guitars with staggered locking tuners and remove the string trees which are an added and uneccessary source of string friction and tuning issues. Looking forward to hearing those alnico 5 pickups in your full review.
Nice axe. Jet is really upping the game - it sounds like they are listening to what guitar players want in a guitar. Alnico does have a different sound than ceramic.
I never have tried a Jet but I am really digging this one. That said if I had this I would swap out the pickup covers and switch tip to black and get black witch hat knobs for the controls. I would also do a Tusq string trees and black (the gold rubs off too much) Dunlop strap locks. Since I play 11s I would swap out the Trem springs to four soft springs and float the Trem (for a half step back when decked). Cool guitar!
Cheers mate! I wish I took more time to get the audio right. I'm gonna try to improve this for future unboxing vids. The problem was mainly stupidity and laziness on my part 😂🙈
I currently have some more roller string trees on the way , they're working out £2.41 per pair post paid. It's even worse than complaining that you're going to have to change the strings. I mean don't get me wrong, I don't like these string trees, but if it can be solved by even the lowest budget beginner AND it's cheaper than consumables, like new strings, I'm pretty sure we could be a little more casual about it. What else can you buy for £2.41 that significantly improves your quality of life? c'monnn guys!

Yeah probably no longer budget - but... I'll bet it's a killer than can hold iot's own against almost anything 😎👍
Steve, great video as always, i don't comment much on these channels but i love the way you champion budget guitars as opposed to ridiculously priced name instruments, being a weegie i also admire you Dundee accent. I myself have been playing 60 years now and still rubbish but no bad on bass, since retiring i have taken up buying cheap end instruments and doing upgrades for a hobby and really ennoying that. So i want to leave you with some words of wisdom, NEVER BUY A ROLEX FROM A BREATHLESS STRANGER. Keep up the good work pal and take care.
Aww mate! Thank ya kindly for taking the time to write - much appreciated sir 😃🙏
Hope you're enjoying your retirement modding guitars - sounds like the way forward mate 😎👌
The hardest part of areview is to put aside your preferences and speak in a general way about it.I only have 1 maple fretboard and it's on my bass. (mInd you, I will Tease you again about an incoming guitar that happens to have aa maple fretboard...)
Loving these cryptic teasers! 😁👍
That's a beautiful hunk of Strat. Also I'm like you re buzz. It's a;mpost irrelavent when you plug a guitar in.
Yeah mate - I'll gladly take the buzz for an easier playing experience 😁👍
Great review 👍Steve!😊
Thank ya kindly mate! 😃🙏
Regarding Soloking MS1 love it to bits. Not perfect but lovable But what really wowed me is the guitar has an incredible voice.
You know like when you pick up, say, a nylon strung acoustic and you both hear and feel the beauty in its sound. Yup - the Soloking MS1 is that good - it has soulfulness
And the coil split ahhhh the coil split .... well you will just have to get one and see for yourself
Is it perfect: not quite
Could it be: relatively speaking yes!
Any other considerations: if the big F did it there would be another grande on the price and probably a reduction in quality control
In summary: put the specification list on a shelf behind you. This is not a product for millimetres and centimetres. Yes, they are important but not as important as result they hope to give. A musical instrument.
One to be loved by ears and hearts. On one hand specifications can be loved on other hand it is easier to love a musical instrument
At this price everyone can make their own decision no?
Well said sir. Sounds like you got a nice resonant Soloking 😃👍
Thank ya kindly mate! 😃🙏 I'm forever hunting for a cheap Staggered set of locking tuners. A staggered JIN HO set for about £45 would be ideal 😁👌
That's a beautiful guitar that sounded great, looking forward to the full review, I wish they would do one with a maple fret board though ! 👍🎸😄
Cheers mate! Me too Re the Maple board. Heading off to a gig shortly. Gonna see if I can get some clips with this Guitar for the full review vid 😃🤞
+1 for the maple fretboard.
Nice axe. Jet is really upping the game - it sounds like they are listening to what guitar players want in a guitar. Alnico does have a different sound than ceramic.
Agreed and after spending some more time with this one - The pickups are pretty impressive imo - Even the humbucker 🤯
Sounds like a tasty selection of mods sir 😎👌

How's the gig going?🤔👍✨
Despite the sound problem the guitar has a nice ring and chime to it.
Cheers mate! I wish I took more time to get the audio right. I'm gonna try to improve this for future unboxing vids. The problem was mainly stupidity and laziness on my part 😂🙈
keep growing bud, appreciate your content. hope the gig went good
Thank you so much mate! Hugely appreciated 😃🙏
It was a great gig! No footage unfortunately ☹️
The red Valiant you were playing at Gear Street looked awesome!! The green one the Studio Rats guy was playin was even nicer though.....G.A.S...
That's the one that's potentially changed my mind on Red Guitars. The Valiant's are incredible tho! WAAANNNTT!!! 😃 You deserve one mate 👹👍
@@stevecassidyguitar Haha shame my bank account doesn't agree about deserving one...😢
@@Chris_Mckean 😂 100% same here!
Food & shelter is overrated tho 😜
Love the guitar, the colour is debatable🤣. Bloody string trees though!!
I'll forever complain about them 😂 Even if they do work well 😂
I currently have some more roller string trees on the way , they're working out £2.41 per pair post paid.
Ooh that's a cheeky little thang, colour me interested
Well.... I've always said you deserve another HSS strat 👹👍
@@stevecassidyguitar 🤣🤣🤣 you are a bad influence my good chap
I subscribe just because of your glasses. Brilliant! Lol
Yeaahs! They worked then! 🤓👍
Thank ya kindly mate 😃🙏

The Glasses have a story 👆🤓
Your content is pretty good as well. Keep up the good work. 🤟
Candy apple red is my favorite color for a Strat.
I can see why 😎👍 It's definitely growing on me. Maybe I'm becoming an apple tree 🤔
@@stevecassidyguitar I wonder when I’ll see a Jet on the bench.
Nice hope you can get the audio sorted out!👍🎸
It's an easy fix - I've just been stupid and lazy 🙈 Will do better in future - Promise 😬🤞
Am in 👍🏻
Thank ya for attending sir! 😃🙏
Absolutely fantastic have a wonderful weekend Steve also happy last day of August ❤😊
Thank ya kindly mate! 🙏 September awaits! 😃
And cuttin' nuts is half the battle!
Agreed! It amazes me how many big brands still can't get that right 😂👍
