Hey Steve, yeah that maple really adds weight to a guitar. That's why I have come to appreciate veneers since they look great and really don't add to the weight overall.
With the rolled edges does the high E string sometimes slip off the fret board? Also how was the guitar playability wise? Action , dead notes , rough frets...really important stuff that people watching want to know. Anyways really glad I found your channel , Subbed ,great review and personality!
@@justice100forwin2 Thank ya for the sub mate 😃🙏 and welcome to the channel 👋. And yeah Soz, I should have mentioned more about the playability etc. I took it for granted as all the Jet's have the same neck profile, and I've reviewed a lot of them. My bad. Also the vid was already over 20mins. It could have been shorter if i removed the daft jokes tho 😂🙈 But anyway... It comes stock with 10's and around 1.8mm action/relief at the 12th fret. A bit high and tough for me, but I've resolved this on all my other Jets with a set of 9-42's and tweaking the action. Fretwork is solid, zero dead spots. Re the rolled fretBOARD edges, it's very slight, and not to be confused with the actual frets, like the "ball end" frets on the EART's, or Harley Benton ST Modern. I've also never experienced slippage on any of those, but I suppose it maybe depends on your playing style, like if you have a very wide agressive vibrato etc? 🤷♂
That model is about the same specs a s a Michael Kelly Mod shop 50 or Custom Collection T style. But since Sam Ash is GOOB thennI don't know how much longer you will see them. They are cheap on the second hand market though. The MK Custom Tstyle in burst with gold hardware is going for about 440$ US. Cheers mate!
I've never tried out a Michael Kelly -Never even seen one in the flesh. Just had a look online now though - I can definitely see the resemblence - Good shout mate 😎👌
I have a Jet JT-300, overall not a bad guitar, it's a Rosewood neck which is my thing, it does have a horrible string buzz somewhere that I just can't get rid of, although that's not enough to sell it, especially as I'd get peanuts for it. Plus it was a present from my wife, so I wouldn't anyway lol. The neck is the best bit about it. Jet didn't really want to know about the issue, they did say send it back, but it was bought from Bax music who just distribute them, they don't repair/replace them, so it would've had to go back to Holland, and for a £159 guitar it wasn't worth it. Will I spend £500 on another Jet, maybe, bit not yet, got my eye on a Player 2 Tele.
@@MrMatrix2808 Nice one mate 👍 I've had the JT300 too. Incredible for the price, but mine didn't have any issues 😬 I'd have a tech look at your neck, might just be a case of a wee hammer tap of a couple of high frets and not too expensive. Worth a go I'd say 😃👍. I just unboxed the player 2 strat the other day. Night manage to get a hold of the Tele in future 🤞
Well spotted mate 🤓👍 Soz - It's a bit of a running joke on the channel, where I pretend there are ludicrous celebrity signature model guitars (Usually people who don't even play guitar), then I purposely use the wrong names/pics... for fun 🙈 I know it's really stupid, but it kinda makes the "Specs" portion of the vid a bit more fun - for me! 😂🙈 Apologies again - Here's another example: th-cam.com/video/ihd-k_8NLX0/w-d-xo.html I got a lot of comments telling me that's not JCVD! 😂 Now you're in on the joke 😜👍 Admitedly a really terrible joke - but there we go 😁
I love the fretboard too mate! That parstcaster only exists because I spotted that neck on eBay 🤩 I was supposed to be building a Strat 🙈 I'm not a big fan of LP's and SG's but there's some Epi models I do really like - Like the Semi hollows, 335, 339 etc and the Wildkat is cool too 😎👍
I love the design of it and it sounds great but maybe not for £500. If it was around £350 I would be all over it. That mahogany body looks tasty though.
Yeah I'd like it at around £350 too, but maybe just with a poplar or Basswood body body. I'm not fussed about the Mahogany. It's the Mahongany and Flame Maple top that's driving up the price, and it's those specs I'm personally the least concerned with #TonewoodDenier 😜
If this had been a JS600 i would agree with you Steve. Now that you have your foot in the door, what else will Jet send you to review ? Can you stretch your fame and persuade other brands to send you review samples, a great way to try before you buy.
Ha! Well... I'm hoping I might be sent one of the new models/series when they come out 😃🤞 Might make some more brand connections at 42gear street this year 😃🤞
Good shout 😎👍 that was the first model that came to my mind for comparison, but other than body shape, roasted maple neck, it doesn't have enough in common for... comparison 😜 imo 🤷♂️
I hear ya mate 👍I "think" the only variant of the 350 with a roasted maple fretboard (I "need" that) Is the blonde SS one. But then I'd want to sand in the body carves and refinish it and change the pups and hardware. Actually... I think I'll just leave it 😅👍
Those curves are honestly beautiful. while i prefer "vintage" looking guitars I think that's one of the things on modern guitars that can really help keep old designs looking fresh
69th like 😆 crackin vid. thanks for showing this jet off Steve C. Outstanding value, still tempted by the 350. I tried a js400 in a local store and thought that was also fab!
Very, very tempted. I love the curves on the Jet, and this would save serious ££ over a Fender Ultra Tele. Would prefer chrome and rather than gold though.
Planned on getting one of these this week but got the new prs se nf3 instead. Blame it on the infamous Dundee brain fart. I definitely will get one though.
Sorry to disappoint 🤷♂️ I've did about 10 Jet vids before this one, all positive because I love the guitars. That's no secret. I did forget to mention about the string tree tho 🙈
Honestly add a trem(sacrilege for a tele I know) and I'm there, never expected a rails pickup to work so well in a tele. agree with the pickguard and gold being a bit too fancy too. a black pickguard would really bring it all together i think
Check out the Vega Trem system for Teles. That said I think you might have some screw holes showing (the ones right near the pickguard) if you added that Trem system.🤔
Body and neck look fab! Not keen on the headstock shape or logo of course 😂. Great specs but £500 is a no. Too many used guitars is rather have. Great review as always a Steve
Hi Steve, you said you changed the pickguards on all your Jet guitars, but where did you find them? I have a JS400 that I'm happy with, but its pickguard is absolutely not compatible with Fenders and I'm not talking about the screw holes, but just the shape; how did you do it? Thanks
Hullo mate! Loooong story... grab a cuppa ☕😜👍 So basically, I had a few Jet JS400's and a few Fazley Phynica fsst 720's. (Those are the exact same guitars with different branding) And... I also have friends who had the same. So I did a lot of swapping pickguards between them and a few with friends, I also bought a used HSS loaded Jet pickguard off eBay. I also covered a JS300 pickguard in "Fablon" but that didn't work out too great. and I even bought another used JS400 (sunburst) I didn't need just for the tort pickguard! 😂 - I know - I have problems 🙈 But... I have heard of people using aftermarket/3rd party Fender pickguards and getting them to fit via some filling/redrilling and possibly some trimming - but I've never tried this myself. There's a guy on eBay with a store called "Earlpilanz" who is based in Glasgow (I don't know him personally) and he offers a service where you can send in your pickguard to get traced and copied with other pickguard material he has avilable. I've used his services before for an Eart and a Fender (original guard had p90's and I was changing to WRHB's) and that was a good experience. A tad pricey though at near £40 now 😬. I've never tried this with a Jet, but I am going to order another one from him as I'm after a black one for my recently refinished Fazley. I hope that helps mate 😁👍 Sorry all options are a bit complicated.
Hey Steve, whwn I was watching this video and you were explaining your Tele, all I could think was yhat a Vega Trem VT2 would be ideal for you. It's not cheap but you are definitely tge kind of player it was meant for. 👍✨ Me, I'm going to stick with vintage trem systems like a Bigsby.😉👍✨
Great shout mate! I was literally just talking about that last night on the Livestream 😀 I'd love to check one out - very interesting design/idea. But yeah... Pricey though 😬
@@stevecassidyguitar True on the price however once you make a big upgrade on a guitar you love, after all is said and done, you are happy. Essentially at that point you have a Steve Cassidy signature Tele that is pretty unique.😉👍✨
I think my favourite tele is this www.andertons.co.uk/soloking-ms-1-custom-flame-maple-top-in-fire-wakesurf/ I am not sponsored by Andertons and have no arrangements with them at all
@@Vincentbrennan1301 😂🤣👍 I know - it's getting too predictable now innit? I should just start a 2nd channel all about string tree rants, and keep this channel string tree rant free 😜
Cheers Mate! Much appreciated sir 😀🙏 Is it the forearm contour or the flamey top that's not for you? You're already sorted with your souped up JT350 anyway 💪😎
Great video thanks Steve, that neck is the business, I do like a Tele that's well hung ... Such a shame it's heavy. When they make your signature guitar that's chambered and weighs 6.5 to 7 lbs, my order will be in - will you sign it for me ?
Haha! 100% mate! 😂👍 I'm actually gigging my Squier Starcaster tonight (semi hollow) nice n light. Sound wise it's really surprised me - vid in the works 😎👌
@SlisterRose Be honest you guys at Guitar companies must put in a bit of effort to make sure the best examples of your work can be seen and reviewed ? I always find it odd when companies deny they do this , I would , it's just good for your business. Looks like a stunning guitar to me , I'm very tempted.
I totally get ya mate 😎👍 different strokes for different folks n'all that jazz... but not quite all the same features. 😁 The 350 with HB neck, doesn't have a variation with a roasted maple fretboard - I "need" that 😜 Mahogany Vs Basswood bodies - This doesn't really mean much to me. But... Them contours on the 600 - Oooft! 😃👌
I'd definitelty recommend trying one out - especially if you like Fender style guitars. For me... Harley Benton, Eart, and SoloKing have a really high end modern feel to them, whereas the Jets are just way more comfortable and have more "vibe". You really have to try, to see if it's for you or not. I love em tho😁👍
That's a smart move mate! 😁👌 I did the same thing with my Jet JS400 here: th-cam.com/video/ihd-k_8NLX0/w-d-xo.html It's now my number 1 guitar. Absolutely love it 😃👍
I like the Jet, but your parts-caster T style, is not only beautiful, but sounds great (from the couple of strums you gave it here). Nice review, Mr. Cassidy!
Soz mate - It's still in my posession, but technically already sold 😬 Great Guitars though - I prefer the coil split switch to the push/pull know they have on the Fusion 3
@@stevecassidyguitar that's fine mate. I prefer the switch too, it's much easier to use. Mine is the blue one they did with the gloss maple fingerboard, really wish they'd bring back the gloss fingerboards. Maybe on future fusions!
Apologies sir 😬. I do have 4 good reasons why it's not done yet tho 😜 1. I had to wait until I got some gig footage with it - Got that on wed 👍 2. I rushed out the unboxing one because it was hot topic, but I've been taking a bit more time getting to know the guitar to hopefully provide a better review. 3. I've been totally swamped with life! 😂 and have a massive backlog of vids to get through 😅 (I've got more time now though) 4. I'm trying to mix up the vids so that it's not some kind of HSS S type every week 😂🙈 (Even though that's MY favourite 😁) It IS coming though mate - apologies for the wait, please stick with me 😃🙏
Telecasters are the most pretentious, least cool, and least versatile type of guitars. I will never own one cause I would want to be viewed as a pretentious insufferable douche in a flat cap like the guys on that pedal show.
Interesting.... 🤔 I'm not really a Tele guy myself. And I can see how this particular one with good hardware and a flashy flame maple top could be seen as pretentious. But.... Blanket Teles are pretentious, I'd have to disagree. What's pretentious about a Squier affinity Tele?
Nah - No SS frets. It's funny how we've all come to expect that from the lesser known brands for around this price (and even less) these days now eh? 😂👍
Great point mate! I'd have to agree with you - I'd say the more affordable Jets are way underpriced! But don't tell anyone. 🤫 The last thing we want is a Jet price hike 😂🙈
@@stevecassidyguitar When I heard the buzz about Jet S types, I didn't need one, (in lurve with my relatively vintage Highway One) but at that price I couldn't resist it. Had it been a more realistic price, I probably wouldn't have taken the chance. Something the marketing folk at Jet would find valuable info I imagine.
Steve, would you say all the necks on the jets are the same? Do they all feel the same? Or would you say some feel bigger, wider, thicker etc? Rock on dude 👍
With the ones I've tried, they all feel the same to me. At least, I can't tell the difference 😂 and I've learned I'm quite picky with necks, but that's the main reason I Iove the Jet stuff, they've totally nailed the Fender neck profile 👍
@@boneysworld it's the same neck profile yes. But they're not interchangeable with a strat neck at the heel/neck pocket. The Tele has a square heel and the strat has a rounded heel. I found that out first hand the hard way. Despite asking Jet that specific question and they told me they were the same 😡 But in terms of feel in the hand - it's the same experience 😃👍
Bought this guitar, in part because of your video. Not fussed about the appearance and probably having to pay more for the gold that is unnecessary, but the guitar itself plays and sounds great. The neck pickup is wonderful, especially “clean” through a Marshall amp. Also have JT350 and JS1000 and they are all terrific guitars, with remarkably similar neck feel yet distinctly voiced pickups. Be nice if Jet provided more information about their specs.
Beautiful, love the contoured neck heel, belly cut and arm rest cut, features that make the guitar comfortable to play, eliminating the squareness on the edges.
Wow I'm impressed. Lots of goodies for a decent price. Sounds really good. I think the neck pickup is darker than a normal tele, but that JET ain't no normal tele. I like the neck pickup tone though, it may be darker because of the mahogany body to some extent. The split h/b sounded awesome and creamy awesome w the neck just wish it had a blend tone mode. I don't care for gold hardware but it does look ok on this one. I agree w you on the pickguard, maybe a 3ply creme perloid/blk/ creme. Overall I think its a great buy especially for the price. BTW "ADRIAN " Sylvester Stallone- Rocky "HEY YOU GUYS" Sesame Street. Your lensless glasses crack me up if you zoom in on them they almost look like they are cardboard cutout. 😂
Thank ya for your comment mate 🤓👍. My favourite tone out of this was the middle position with the HB split too - Love it 😃👍 If your new here, I'll fill you in... The movie quotes and fake actor signature models is just a daft running joke I have on the channel - It's mainly for my own amusement 😂🙈 So I said Woody Harrelson, but used a pic of Owen Wilson etc 🙈 "Hey You Guys!" Is from the Goonies - If you already knew all of that apologies for over explaining mate 😂👍 Here's another example: (It's in the first 2 mins) th-cam.com/video/ihd-k_8NLX0/w-d-xo.html I got a lot of "That's not JCVD" comments 😂
Yes please do a vid on your Tele partscaster. Now to the Jet. Is it worth it ? Definitely. Will it sell ? Nope! It's a Jet and for 500 Smackeroons you can buy a PRS new! Would the PRS be better? Probably not but it's a PRS not a Jet. I'm not a snob Steve but simply from the angle of resale value it's a no go. Gold hardware looks great but ages horribly and you don't need locking tuners on a Tele. Split posts do the job , are just as quick to change strings and cost much less. I love the look of that Jet and the appointments are excellent but in today's market it just won't attract enough buyers because there are too many good guitars for less money. The less you pay, the less you stand to lose when you sell. Fact of life I'm afraid, still it was great to see and hear it and I'm sure this guitar will act as an impulse for modders everywhere.
This was how I seen it too mate. I've been sold on Jet guitars for a while now so I definitely see the value in this guitar and I think it's worth it. But... I agree, for a young brand it's always gonna be a hard road to step up in price range. Like you say... There's a lot of big brand names people can grab at this price. Probably not as well specced tho 😜
Agree on the re-sale. These guitars are fantastic value for money and if you keep it then its worth it but they will only ever decrease in value as for some reason the cheaper branded guitars have zero re-sale value - even if modded. So if you are someone who keeps every guitar and isnt going to sell it then its great. But if you ever do sell it just be aware youll be making a loss and wont even break even. I had a Harley Benton Les Paul and modded it with locking tuners, better nut and the Slash AFD pick ups. It took ages to sell and when it did i just about got my money back but after ebay fees and postage was probably on a slight loss.
@@steel_horse7570 It's the name of the game and unfortunately the game is actually in the name. The advantage for buyers is that they can get really good, hardly played, no name used guitars at throwaway prices. I have 3 Aria STG's which I bought for about 20 quid each. As good as any Bullet or Affinity. All three now severely modded just for fun. Also have a vintage Vox Standard24 with the original DiMarzio SD's in it which I would never mod. Modding is a personal thing that rarely works for resale. Even if it's exactly what the buyer wants he'll try to talk you down with "I wanted everything original." I'm almost 70 now and can remember when extremely bad guitars were sold for extremely high prices. Believe me when I say that today's market is an eldorado for cheap guitars. Named brands are just the opposite, especially Gibson but each to their own.
@@steel_horse7570 100% 👍 modding, unfortunately, almost always decreases the value. Even if you "upgrade" something, It's to the original owners taste and probably not the new buyer. Unless it's something almost universally accepted as an upgrade like locking tuners etc. For example, If i was looking to buy a used, Squier and someone put a £120 Seymour Duncan Invader in the bridge, that's not an upgrade to me - that's further from my tastes, than whatever was in there stock. Reversible mods is the way to go imo
Had a Jet £150.00 job loved it but when playing live it was heavy so moved it on!.. this JT600 is priced too high imo.. I Agree if you can find a lighter version of a Jet very tempting🤔.. anyway great vid thanks for sharing!🙂
The magic TH-cam algorithm sent me your way. Fantastic video. I love the fact that you’re not showing off. Just showing the Guitar off and it’s nice to see some hilarity throwing in there as well. So I hit the light button and I subscribed best of luck in your TH-cam adventures.
Thank ya so much for your kind words and sub mate! Welcome to the channel 😃🙏 If you mean showing off in terms of guitar playing.. If I could play better, I'd totally be trying to show off 😜😂
It’s the best guitar i’ve ever bought and i’ve had USA fenders and gibsons. The fretboard is absolutely stunning. i’m tempted to put a black pick guard on it though 😀
Very nice guitar and well done my man…I have an FGN almost identical to that, I put a tone zone rail tele p/u in it and it’s my daily player…best 600 bucks I ever spent 👍
It's a really nice looking guitar with a very interesting spec. But at £500 that's just another example of Jet trying to up the price point it's dealing in. Not sure I would buy one without actually playing it. Whereas with the 3 I've bought already the price made it a no brainer risk wise.
I hear ya mate 😎👍 I think if people value the body wood construction then this is well worth it. For me I'm "mainly" wood agnostic, happy to play poplar, basswood whatever. The spec sheet is awesome - even better if it's the specs people are after
Woah, man - finally a dude who reviews stuff and takes the trouble to compare with other stuff (both totally and feature-wise), and who even gives us a sideways glance at other models by the same maker. This has got to be one of the most helpful reviews I‘ve seen, since it doesn‘t just drool about a product or engage in endless sound orgies. Made an instant sub outa me! As for the guitar: Loving it, except for the gol and the weight. But for this sound, this comfort and this overall beauty, I might be willing… That said, I checked out the JT350 a bit and wonder how it might compare tonally and in terms of weight (and contours). It seems its made of basswood, so is presumably a bit lighter? but perhaps it seems to lack the contours. And the sound is obviously going to be a wee bit different due to the different wood. But otherwise, are they comparable?
Thank you so much for taking the time to comment mate! and thanks for the sub - welcome to the channel 😃🙏 The frustrating thing with Jet Guitars is the inconsistency with the weights. I've had about a dozen, and they can vary a bit - even with the same model. I've never tried the JT350, but you're right - Logic would suggest the baswood might be lighter, but the solid maple top on the 600 will also be adding a lot to the weight. The 350 doesn't have that. Contour-wise it just seems to be missing the forearm contour - it looks like the tummy cut, heel carve and scoop are all still there (from the pics). The JT350 is still a great choice imo. For me, I'd have to go with the Blonde S/S version as that's the only one that comes with a roasted maple freboard (Real rosewood on the alternative model 😃) , but I don't like the blonde colour - even though apparently... they have more fun 🤷♂️
Very cool, Thankyou Steve. WOW, what a stunning looking and sounding guitar and awesome playing as always. My Favorite Tele's are my Tokai Vintage White with Rosewood fretboard and my Artist Guitars TC59 with Maple Neck/Fretboard. Both are amazing instruments with completely individual personalities. All the Best. Cheers
Ordered this guitar yesterday and it arrived today. What can i say, it’s absolutely stunning, the finish, the neck/fretboard, everything on this guitar is stunning and then when i plugged it in to my katana air ex, well wow. The rails humbucker sounds amazing and the neck pickup is a lot more warmer and darker than a traditional tele neck pick up which i prefer. for me the middle position with the coil split gives a nice tele twangy tone as well so this guitar will cover everything. i know the £500 price tag is quite high but trust me, i don’t think you’ll get anything better at that price or even more. This is my new gigging guitar without question 👍
Hi Steve, back in my younger days I was a proper Tele man. My first decent guitar was a no frills white Fender Tele that I got brand new back in 1977. It seemed a fortune at the time, I paid all of £290 for it. I had that guitar for 20 years and then got an offer I couldn't refuse and let it go. (bad move) If I could have just one of my old guitars back it would be that one. I've never tried a Jet guitar. I love everything about this one but it seems to me they might have been better off cutting back on the spec just a little bit (I did say might!) and keeping the price down a little and maybe selling a few more. Once you get to that kind of price point you can be looking at a second hand something with a designer badge on the headstock albeit something with a few dings here and there. There's also the re-sale value to consider if you decide to move it on, Jet are pretty much known as a budget brand so you won't want to pay a big price for a used one. For all those negative thoughts I do think it's a nice guitar though.
Aww mate - Literally the one that got away. Bummer. Sorry to bring up painful memories for you 😬 But yeah, I completely understand. I've already been sold on Jet guitars, so I do see the value in this one, but like you, I can also see how this might be a hard sell for the younger brand trying to go up a weight class.
Hi Steve! Its definately wrong that you dont get to keep this amazing guitar that would cost many times the £500 price tag. Im happy with my fender player tele but this definately seems to be a lot more guitar for the money. I had a js400 but returned it as it should have been labelled as a B grade but wasnt. Great revue as always Steve! Cheers!
Hullo mate! And thank ya kindly 😃🙏 Sorry to hear about your experience with the JS400 mate - Bummer ☹️👎 At these prices, they can't all be great, some bad un's are bound to slip through. Shame it was yours
These guitars in the upto 500 hundred quid mark are what everyone is interested in. Not fender this, les paul that..... Where alllllll skint man, we get them on finance 😅😅😅😅
Yes I agree about that pick guard, I wonder if the routing under it is hidden, because that Beautiful QMT is too good to hide. Maybe a clear plastic pick guard would be the go. And maybe a string tree that goes over the G string as well. Stabilise that sucker.
I think i'd change the pickups on this one either way. But for the 350 I'd have to get the blonde SS one as I "think" that's the only one with the roasted maple fretboard (I "need" that 😜). But then I'd want to sand in all those contours, then refinish it, then change the picku... Actually - I'll just leave it 😅👍
Great to see your review of the JT600. I fully agree with all your conz. Though I honestly do not fancy the laquered body. I was also wondering if upgrading a 'lesser' with the rail pickup would not come just as close, sound wise. Yes, I would love to see a video on the partscaster.
Thank you mate 😃🙏 Soundwise, yeah I think if you put the same rail pickup in with the same pots/electronics etc, it would sound almost identical. 😎👍 Although you could change the pickups to anything more to your taste and get a sound you love. It wouldn't have to cost too much either. Depends on your preferences 👍
The kotzen guitar got me into telecasters! I wanted it brown like Fender site shows, but it's actually yellow IRL I wish this guitar was available when I bought mine. It's beautiful. The only thing i wish it had was stainless steel frets.
Yeah mate - good shout on the stainless steel frets 👍 If Harley Benton, Eart, and Soloking can all do them for around £300, It would be great to see it on a Jet at this price (As long as they maintain the 9.5" radius 😁)
It's not one that's appealed to me too much as I'm not a big fan of rosewood fretboards, but other than that they dolook pretty impressive 😎👍 But I've got a note of that now, in case I ever come across one - cheers mate! 😀👍
@@stevecassidyguitar Great channel keep up the good work. Keep reviewing and being honest about what you review. I have seen lots of gear reviewers. Who just basically turn into simps. I bought a Tele style from Firefly, and it out Teles a Fender Tele. It's $189. It's got rounded SS Frets, roasted maple neck and fingerboard, alnico 5 pickups, Korean parts, mahogany body, and bone nut. It comes string through with brass saddles. It was in perfect playing condition. I know it's not a hit or miss thing, because I got a Charvel style from them, and it's got the same specs, except it's got a licensed FR and the fretboard is Rosewood. Same thing. Perfect condition. I'm not being hyperbolic, but they could actually actually be mistaken for guitars that costs 4 x as much. I rarely talk anything up. I just wanted to spread the word. I'm not affiliated with them either.
Nice one mate! i've heard great things about the Firefly's 😃👍. I'd love to try one out, but they're not easy to get a hold of in the UK. But specwise they seem very similar to the EART's and SoloKings, So I "think" I have a pretty good idea what to expect 👍
Nice to hear! Have a Firefly 338, myself, in spalted maple, and she‘s great! But I had to import her all the way from the U.S. to Germany, and that ended up being rather costly and bothersome, so sadly I‘m unable to get a Firefly tele. I totally get it mate 👍 It doesn't bother me at all, but I have had a lot of comments saying the same as you, so it's definitely a marmite kind of thing. If it's putting too many people off, then they defintely should consider an alternative
They should have put a 3 ply black pick guard on it. Black with the sunburst finish looks epic. I'd say it's worth the price especially with the maple cap and not a veneer. Jet should start selling pick guards in various colours for all their guitars, get them told Steve. Beautiful looking guitar. They should do a deal with Tonerider pickups and use them as there stock pups.

How do you find playing your player series neck after playing the jet neck on your js 400?. I’ve been waiting for a revue of this guitar for months, until today I don’t think there’s a been single revue on TH-cam. I shall look forward to watching this later and subsequently putting a kidney on eBay.
It's a cool guitar! I had a Squire 70's Classic Vibe Deluxe Telecaster, and I thought I would keep it forever or thereabout, but after I bought the Jet JT-350 and upgraded the electronics, it just grew on me more and more, and having played both guitars back to back, I decided to sell the Squier. Jet JT-350 has a better neck, the Squire has a glossy neck and fretboard, and it's not as easy to play when your hands get a bit sweaty. Also, the Tonerider pickups I put in the Jet sound great! The single coil in the neck is just perfect for me, beautiful cleans and a great rocker with distortion.
I have the same issue with Glossy necks and fretboards. My other Tele and Starcaster, both have the glossy fretboards, they had glossy necks too, but i got rid of it with steel wool 😬 I need to do the fretboards too. I always fancied the Sq CV 70's Dlx Tele too - Especially in white - right up my street looks wise 😎. Which Tone rider set did you go with?
@@stevecassidyguitar I think it's the Vintage Vlassic single coil in the bridge position and the humbucker in the neck position is... probably Rocksong. I don't remember, but I've got the boxes still, so I can check it out.
It's actually Hot Classics bridge pickup and the Generator humbucker in the neck position. At least I remember the colour of the guitar and that the pickup configuration is HS. 😆
I've always thought that part of what "Makes a Tele" is the Telecaster pickups. To me, neither of this lovely looking guitar's pickups seem be traditional Tele pickups.
Having recently swapped out the traditional Tele pickups on one of my old Telecasters (and even those single coils I removed were some I'd already upgraded it with a few years ago), for some wide range humbuckers, it has now become one of my favourite guitars and it sounds great. So much so in fact that I'm currently making another partscaster Tele which is also going to have wide range humbuckers on it. But with regard to the 'Tele sound', the truth is, when people talk about that 'Telecaster twang', most of it is down to the fact that when the Tele first came out in the 1950s, it was mainly country music it was used for - we didn't really get mainstream rock and roll music until the mid-1950s and to be honest, much of that is really what you'd call boogie-woogie rather than what most people would call rock and roll these days - so that kind of country chicken-picking sound became associated with the Telecaster very early on and the Tele remains a favourite among those kinds of players, even though you can get that kind of sound out of any guitar really, since it is more about fast picking up near the bridge. I think the best proof of this, is the commonly held belief that the James Bond Theme was played on a Telecaster, since that sound is what people would call the 'Telecaster Twang', even though it was actually played on a big jazzer guitar (a 1939 model Cifford Essex Paragon Deluxe with some De Armond pick ups added to it); again it's the picking close to the bridge by Vic Flick on that recording which gives it that twangy sound. So it's not really the pickups which make that 'Tele sound' and it's one of the reasons why, with the exception of one of my Fender Teles, the rest of them have had the neck pickup swapped out for various types of humbucker (usually a PAF of some kind), as it makes the Telecaster a much more versatile guitar in terms of the sounds you can get from it, but retains the big bridge plate which also has a bearing on some of the sounds you can get from one. Another interesting one with regard to this kind of 'that guitar sounds like this' belief, is the fact that quite a few of Jimi Hendrix' classic rock records, were not done on a Strat, but rather on a Telecaster, yet people think it's a Strat on those records because it is the guitar Jimi was frequently seen with, so again, not the pickups creating the sound, but the playing style and the amplification and effects.
@@ChockHolocaust Loads of knowledge nuggets in here - cheers mate. Didn't know that about the bond theme - I'd didn't think it was a Tele originally, but only because I'd never really thought about it at all 😂 My other Tele has WRHB's in it too 😁👌

It could have been shorter if i removed the daft jokes tho 😂🙈
But anyway...

Incredible for the price, but mine didn't have any issues 😬

Hi Steve, you said you changed the pickguards on all your Jet guitars, but where did you find them? I have a JS400 that I'm happy with, but its pickguard is absolutely not compatible with Fenders and I'm not talking about the screw holes, but just the shape; how did you do it?

Hullo mate! Loooong story... grab a cuppa ☕😜👍
So basically, I had a few Jet JS400's and a few Fazley Phynica fsst 720's. 😂 - I know - I have problems 🙈
But...

Beautiful, love the contoured neck heel, belly cut and arm rest cut, features that make the guitar comfortable to play, eliminating the squareness on the edges.
Me too mate! That's the best part for me. Wel.. that and the neck 😁👌
Is it me or does it sound a bit flat and dull? It doesn't really sound like a tele should.
There's a very good chance it's the player 🙈
I didn't love the neck pickup. My favourite tone out of it is the neck and bridge (split)
@@stevecassidyguitar I'm serious. The JT-300 sounds much more like a telecaster should. This one doesn't have that tele twang. Not even a little.

The Jet is definitely more appealing to me - I love their roasted maple necks 😁👌
... and prices! 😂
It’s the best guitar i’ve ever bought and i’ve had USA fenders and gibsons. The fretboard is absolutely stunning. i’m tempted to put a black pick guard on it though 😀
Oh yeah - black would look super classy imo 😎👌
Very nice guitar and well done my man…I have an FGN almost identical to that, I put a tone zone rail tele p/u in it and it’s my daily player…best 600 bucks I ever spent 👍
Cheers! 🍻Nice one mate 😀👍 The FGN Stuff looks class 😎👌
Thank you so much for taking the time to comment mate! and thanks for the sub - welcome to the channel 😃🙏
The frustrating thing with Jet Guitars is the inconsistency with the weights.
Cheers
Thank ya kindly mate! 😃🙏
I will get round to checking an artist one day! I won't forget your high praise of them 😁👍
Ordered this guitar yesterday and it arrived today.
Fantastic mate! HNGD! 🥳
I'm not surprised ya like it - absolute stunner and awesome specs too 😎👌
The comfort contours, overall elegance and bridge makes it very tempting indeed. I wonder if it comes in left handed? I’ll be checking their website.
I've not checked properly, but one of your fellow lefties has just left a comment that it's not available as lefty - soz mate - bummer ☹️
Bummer. Sorry to bring up painful memories for you 😬
But yeah, I completely understand.
Cheers!
Hullo mate! And thank ya kindly 😃🙏

I agree 100% mate! It's certainly what I'm interested in anyway 😃👍
Yes I agree about that pick guard, I wonder if the routing under it is hidden, because that Beautiful QMT is too good to hide. Maybe a clear plastic pick guard would be the go. And maybe a string tree that goes over the G string as well. Stabilise that sucker.

Great to see your review of the JT600. I fully agree with all your conz. Though I honestly do not fancy the laquered body. I was also wondering if upgrading a 'lesser' with the rail pickup would not come just as close, sound wise.
Yes, I would love to see a video on the partscaster.
Thank you mate 😃🙏
Soundwise, yeah I think if you put the same rail pickup in with the same pots/electronics etc, it would sound almost identical. 😎👍
Although you could change the pickups to anything more to your taste and get a sound you love. It wouldn't have to cost too much either. Depends on your preferences 👍
The kotzen guitar got me into telecasters! I wanted it brown like Fender site shows, but it's actually yellow IRL
I wish this guitar was available when I bought mine.

I get ya mate. If this was mine I'd definitely change the pickups 👍👍
Didn't know that about the bond theme - I'd didn't think it was a Tele originally, but only because I'd never really thought about it at all 😂
